Liberals Want to Control the Internet by Hook or by Crook

Hook didn't work, so now they're trying crook. Here's the latest assault on the Internet, via Infowars:

Techdirt reports that Senate bill 978 – a bill to amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright, and for other purposes – may be used to prosecute people for embedding YouTube videos.

According to Mark Masnick, if a website embeds a YouTube video that is determined to have infringed on copyright and more than 10 people view it on that website, the owner or others associated with the website could face up to five years in prison.

As readers of Infowars.com know, many videos are removed from YouTube after copyright owners complain about infringement. This happens with thousands of news clips every year. Most people are familiar with the now common black box replacing a video that says the video has been removed for copyright reasons.

If enacted, this law will go one step further and turn people who embed a copyrighted video into criminals. It will also set the stage to criminalize linking to copyrighted information — like corporate media news sources — and shut down the alternative media.

It will also make people think twice about putting up all kinds of videos, from news reports to clips from documentaries and other educational material.

It does not take a vivid imagination to realize the political implications of this legislation.
No it doesn't. Just imagine how hard it will be for bloggers to report news if we can't embed video clips. Not to mention people like me who embed favored songs onto our blogs so others can enjoy them.

What gives, Mr. President? tired of the conservatives passing clips of your speeches around the internet to show you for what you are?

It's All Fun and Games ... Until They Start Picking on You

This was brought to my attention just this morning, and I feel the need to comment on it.

Yesterday, some idiot blogger on the blog Wonkette decided to attack Sarah Palin's son Trig on his birthday. Apparently, an idiot - who was probably dropped on his head as a child - named Jack Stuef thinks it's funny to pick on a disabled child. Here's one of his tamer remarks, courtesy of Gateway Pundit, since I REFUSE to link to Wonkette:
That strange man yelling unintelligibly at Sarah Palin? He’s merely a lowly shepherd proclaiming the birth of our savior. Today is the day we come together to celebrate the snowbilly grifter’s magical journey from Texas to Alaska to deliver to the America the great gentleman scholar Trig Palin. Is Palin his true mother? Or was Bristol? (And why is it that nobody questions who the father is? Because, either way, Todd definitely did it.) It doesn’t matter. What matters is that we are privileged to live in a time when we can witness the greatest prop in world political history.
What in the crap is this? Seriously? Sarah and Todd Palin are the parents of Trig, who was unfortunately born with Down Syndrome, but was born into a kind, loving, family.

Personally, I like Mediaite's response to that quote:
Hey, that’s really funny, calling Trig a gentleman scholar because he has Down Syndrome. And the speculation that Todd Palin may have raped his daughter? Pure comedy gold. You know what will be even funnier? The first time Jack Stuef runs into Todd Palin. That one practically writes its own punchline.

Very true.

Personally, I cannot believe that these idjits and the rest of the libtard gang are still going on about this. Honestly. And they call us Obama Birthers nuts. At least we have a valid reason for what we do. These people are so afraid of Sarah Palin they have to stoop to attacking her disabled child.

Now, I'm sure Whorekette writers and editors are not aware of this, but as far as I, and presumably most other people, are concerned, you don't look very brave picking on a child because you're afraid of his mother. In fact, if this was happening in a school, this would be called bullying. Heck, forget the school part - it is bullying.

Hey losers! Didn't Obama have something to say about bullying? Or did he make an exception for disabled children of people who scare both him and you?

In response to these despicable actions, people went and complained to the advertisers, three of whom have agreed to drop support of Whorekette. Well, good for them. From Life News:
Three large companies have dropped their advertisements on the liberal, pro-abortion Wonkette blog after it ran a post earlier today bashing pro-life former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin

Conservative political activists are up in arms because the post, which Wonkette has defended, calls Palin’s son trig, who has Down syndrome, “retarded,” “somewhat alive,” and includes crass claims that Palin conceived her son as a victim of incest.
At the site, you can see screenshots ot the Twitter messages that Papa John's, Huggies, and Vanguard posted, saying that they were withdrawing support.
Wonkette responded with tweets of its own claiming Papa Johns was engaging in “homophobia.”

“Boycott Papa Johns, spread the word,” the web site tweeted. “Homophobic Papa Johns. Why does every … pizza chain support wingnut extremists?”
This here is more proof that liberal should be kept in grade school forever, since they don't seem to understand the basic concept that WORDS HAVE MEANING. How is punishing bullies homophobic? Come on, Whorekette! I'm on pins and needles waiting for you to explain this one!
Meanwhile, Wonkette Chief Editor Ken Layne defended the post in response to a query from the web site Mediaite as one attacking Palin’s supposed use of her mentally disabled son at political events. He also tweeted: “We beat up on Sarah Palin’s craven use of her son as a political prop. Child protective services should take Trig away.”

Okay, I cannot recall one incident during her run as VP where Mrs. Palin EVER used her child as a political prop. Barack Obama and his media stooges, on the other hand, had no problem at all with using a disabled child to distract from Obama's statements about spreading the wealth around, Obama's missing school records, doctor records, and birth certificate.

So what we have here, Wonkette, is a case where you thought you could attack a disabled child, and then you started acting like a child when it came out that, oh yeah, most average Americans just can't endorse stuff like that.
You went out to hurt the Palin family by attacking their son on his birthday, and blew up in your face. Now you're forced to use the phrase "homophobic" to describe people who decided that you are not worth their time or money. When did we get homosexuals involved in this?

It's all fun and games, picking on other people's kids, until other people start picking on you.

The Tucson Tragedy Blame Game

Well, what can I say about this that you all don't already know?

First, my condolences to the families of those who were killed in this terrible crime. Fourteen people were injured, and six people were killed when lunatic Jared Loughner opened fire.

The deceased are Judge John Roll, 63; Gabriel Zimmerman, 30; Phyllis Sheck, 79; Dorthy Murray, 76; Dorwin Stoddard, 76; and Christina Greene, 9.

Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the target of the attack, is alive but still in critical condition.

And as one Conservative put it, "before the blood had even dried" down there in Arizona, the Left was rushing to assign blame.

To the Tea Party, of course.

Never mind the hate-filled rhetoric of the Left. Never mind all of the statements from President Obama himself inciting violence, which includes, but is by no means limited to
** Obama: “They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun”
** Obama to His Followers: “Get in Their Faces!”
** Obama on ACORN Mobs: “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”
** Obama to His Mercenary Army: “Hit Back Twice As Hard”
** Obama on the private sector: “We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick.“
** Obama to voters: Republican victory would mean “hand to hand combat”
** Obama to lib supporters: “It’s time to Fight for it.”
** Obama to Latino supporters: “Punish your enemies.”
** Obama to democrats: “I’m itching for a fight.”

Extra thanks to Gateway Pundit for this list. GP has worked tirelessly to keeps us informed of breaking developments in this sorry mess.

Now, liberals are running around screaming that this is the fault of the Tea Party and that angry rhetoric cause Loughner to snap and start shooting. Never mind all the stuff Obama has said.

Liberals passing through will say, 'oh, but that was just rhetoric. The president was being metaphorical.' Yeah? Well you've accused me of spouting rhetoric that caused Loughner to snap, and I'm a little out-of-the-way blogger. I don't have a public stage like Obama does. Tell me who's rhetoric Loughner would have been hearing. And yes, I referenced myself, because if you blame the Tea Party, you've blamed me.

But nevertheless, the Dems still planned to blame this on the Tea Party. In fact they planned it almost as soon as they heard about. From Politico via Gateway Pundit (emphasis added):

One veteran Democratic operative, who blames overheated rhetoric for the shooting, said President Barack Obama should carefully but forcefully do what his predecessor did.

“They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers,” said the Democrat. “Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”

I think that speaks for itself.

Besides the Tea party, there was a great liberal rush to blame Sarah Palin for the attacks. The reasoning behind this was a picture that Palin had on her website before the election, which showed Rep. Gifford's district in cross hairs.

Never mind that Brad Ellsworth, who's district was also in cross hairs, is still alive, not to mention the other politicians who were in cross hairs. Help me out here, liberals, what are you trying to prove? After the Fort Hood shooting, we were all told not to rush to judgement, but after Tucson, you all went running to blame Sarah Palin and the Tea Party. Which leave me asking, what gives?

Never mind all the Leftist rhetoric against Sarah Palin, which Michelle Malkin has detailed here.

Never mind the fact that Loughner has been fixated on Rep. Giffords since 2007, long before Sarah Palin became famous nationwide and before the Tea Party even existed.

Today word came that only 32% of America thinks that rhetoric had anything to do with the tragedy in Tuscon. Sorry Democrats.

Jared Lee Loughner is not a Tea Partier. He is insane, and he has had run-ins with the law before. However, far left loon and Tuscon Sheriff Clarence Dupnik did nothing about those threats. Via The Cholla Jumps:

The sheriff has been editorializing and politicizing the event since he took the podium to report on the incident. His blaming of radio personalities and bloggers is a pre-emptive strike because Mr. Dupnik knows this tragedy lays at his feet and his office. Six people died on his watch and he could have prevented it. He needs to step up and start apologizing to the families of the victims instead of spinning this event to serve his own political agenda.

Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation. My sympathies and my heart goes out to her and the rest of Mr. Loughner’s family. This tragedy must be tearing them up inside wondering if they had done the right things in trying to manage Jared’s obvious mental instability.

Every victim of his threats previously must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if they had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully by the Glock 9mm Model 19 that he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more.

This was not an act of politics. This was an act of a mentally disturbed young man hell bent on getting his 15 minutes of infamy. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was aware of his violent nature and they failed to act appropriately. This tragedy leads right back to Sherriff Dupnik and all the spin in the world is not going to change that fact.
Emphasis added.

So a loony liberal sheriff - and most likely a bleeding heart liberal at that - allows an insane man who has been making threats against all types of people walk free, and then six people wind up dead.

I guess this doesn't have anything to do with Palin or the Tea Party, does it?

I'm tired of hearing liberals screech. Enough of this blame game.

Don't Feed The Trolls, and the Potential Healthcare Bill Repeal

Far be it from me to try and infringe on any one's freedom of speech, but why are we arguing with morons?

For those just tuning in, allow me to explain. I am very much a fan of Gateway Pundit, which is a Conservative news blog, and also the Internet moniker of the man who runs the blog. I like Gateway and I like his blog. I also like the reading the comments sections of his posts, because it's amazing what you can learn, both from the regulars, and from the newcomers.

However, recently I have noticed an upswing in the trolls around the place. And it is annoying. For several months there were next to no trolls and now they're everywhere.

Worse, they can't form a coherent argument, and they never seem to realize when they're beaten. So one of the regular Punditeers will try to talk some sense into one of the trolls, only for the trolls to act like, well, liberals, which they most likely are, and lack anything that even remotely resembles an argument.

"If you can somehow force a liberal into a point-counterpoint argument, his retorts will bear no relation to what you've said -- unless you were in fact talking about your looks, your age, your weight, your personal obsessions, or whether you are a fascist. In the famous liberal two-step, they leap from one idiotic point to the next, so you can never nail them. It's like arguing with someone with Attention Deficit Disorder." - Ann Coulter
And that's kind of true. I forget how many time I've seen stupid liberal trolls do just that: we can't make a coherent point with admitting to hating America, so we'll misconstrue your statements and attack you instead. After all, you love America so attacking you is the next best thing.

I try not to argue with trolls, although I have accidentally ended up arguing with a liberal before. I'm not afraid to fight for my country, but on the other hand, I'm not real big on wasting time. You can spend time arguing with the trolls on GP's blog, but when you finally pin them into a corner, they change the argument.

In the interest of fairness, though, there were a pair of commenters who acted like trolls, but gave it up after getting verbally beaten around by the regulars a couple of time. Who knows, maybe arguing with idiots has some advantages. Maybe they do learn after awhile. Which, begs the question though, about why **** ***** and **** * can't actually learn after the fifty thousand times someone's argued with them. (Sorry, I don't want the trolls to know I'm talking about them, so no names.)

Alright, enough about the trolls. Now it's time to move on to the health care bill. I hear tell that the Republicans are going to vote for a repeal on the 12th of January. It was pointed out to me by one of the Punditeers today that this is a win-win for our side, no matter what happens. Either it gets repealed and we win, or the Democrats show their true colors, shoot the bill down, and we have something to hang them with come 2012.

Apparently John Boehner sent a thank-you note to Harry Reid. Check it out:

Senators Reid, Durbin, Schumer, Murray and Stabenow:

Thank you for reminding us – and the American people – of the backroom deal that you struck behind closed doors with ‘Big Pharma,’ resulting in bigger profits for the drug companies, and higher prescription drug costs for 33 million seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D, at a cost to the taxpayers of $42.6 billion.

The House is going to pass legislation to repeal that now. You’re welcome.

- Speaker-Designate John Boehner’s Press Office
Gutsy, but I felt it could have to stood to be a bit more strongly worded, and I think he was a bit wrong by assuming it would be repealed. Personally I think it should have run something along the lines of, "thank you for reminding us about your backroom deal. By all means feel free to block us. We appreciate you showing the public your true colors. (What color represents treason again?)

Okay, the last line might have been a little to far, but I couldn't resist. Good I'm not a politician. I would never be able to resist making fools out of stupid people.

Either way, it will certainly be interesting to see if the Right can pull this off.

Tomorrow's Political Forecast: Partly Tyranical with a 53% Chance of Atlas Shrugging

Is it just me, or have things actually gotten worse since the Dems were voted out? Oh wait, it's not just me - It has.

Alright, so the Democrats are angry that we rejected their tyranny, but I don't understand why they still have the power to ruin our lives like this. It annoys me.

Let's see, what all kind of crud has happened the past few days? Well, tonight I got word that the FCC has decided to start regulating the Internet. (Keep your hands off my computer! Dial R 4 Infinity is a No Net Neutrality zone!!) Also,

- The Senate passed a food safety bill that gives the FDA more power. The Republicans abandoned the Tea Party to jump on board with the Democrats. You can follow this link to see several lies about that bill get debunked. (Even if you don't read that food safety bill, I strongly suggest reading NaturalNews article in the second link.)

- In an utterly stupid move, the Senate decided to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell. The stupidity of this is just mind blowing. It's an army, not a social club, and it's no place to host a social experiment like this. In fact, I can predict how this ends because everytime I hear about a different country that allows fags to serve, the army can't fight worth squat.

- The irony meter went through the roof on Sunday when Wikileaks traitor Julian Assange's lawyers went out and complained that details about their client's sex life were leaked. (We read the documents on Wikileaks.)

And last, and probably worst (maybe...it's hard to tell) is the fact that the Republicans also collapsed on the START nuclear treaty with Russia. Now there is a motion to advance it. (Irritating me even more is the fact that one of my idiot Senators, RINO Dick Lugar, voted yes. Democrat Evan Bayh, who has retired, abstained from voting. I never thought I'd appreciate a Democrat over a Republican, but I do in this case.)(Wait a minute, I just admitted that I prefer Bayh over Lugar. What is this, the apocalypse?)

I digress. Today I was thinking about all this crap and I thought, you know, I'm getting an Atlas Shrugged vibe here. Who knew Ann Rand was qualified to be a prophetess? In Atlas Shrugged, the government is always after more power. And when whatever they're running fails, they demand more power to make sure it doesn't fail again. (even though the collapse was their fault in the first place.) That's what's happened with this new Food Safety bill. The FDA botched up, so of course they want more power now to make sure they can screw up our lives don't screw up again. (See lie #5 on the Natural News link up there.)

DADT qualifies under the 'making life fair' part of the government in Atlas Shrugged. And yes, the government in the book did try and make life fair. (They also used class warfare. I'm telling you: flat tax.)

Ever since Obummer came to power I've heard different people say it was like they went to bed in America and woke up after the election in a Banana Republic or the Twilight Zone or something like that. Well, now that I'd done reading AS, it feels like I went to bed in the real world and woke up in the book.

Which begs the question: WHERE IS JOHN GALT? Where is the person is going to restore sanity to those with the minds to accept it? I'm ready to accept it. Heck, I'm ready to move to Galt's Gulch. (Though I admit it will be hard to ship my books out there.)

All joking aside, no, I really am waiting for the person who's going to save America. And no, Obama is not qualified to do that job. Heck, he's not qualified to a Wal-Mart cashier. So who's going to save us now? (Oh heck, for that matter we may as well ask who is John Galt?)

No, I'm not giving up. Not yet. We still have another shot, as soon as January fifth rolls around. But it's not coming fast enough. This lame duck session should never have happened. Obama knows this is his one last shot to get the things he wants done. He is such an idiot it isn't funny. Washington D.C. is suicidal, and they want America to die with them.

Paging John Galt.

If You Don't Like the American Flag, Move to Iran

I'm mad. And I know what you're thinking: TARNS, we had a great victory not long ago, why are you upset?

I'm mad because even though we've just spayed them, Democrats are still everywhere. I can't stand them, and I can't get away from them either. What really set me off this week was my reading assignment in my English Composition class over at college.

So I was reading this essay by a Democrat who was whining and griping about how white Conservative men are against single moms getting welfare, and how we need to raise minimum wage and make life easier on these welfare moms. (Good thing the idiot who wrote essay was nowhere in the vicinity, or I might have committed an act that the Tea Party would frown upon.)

I'm getting so sick of liberals (and Democrats, but those two terms are interchangeable.) They have this spiel that life should be fair for everyone. If life was fair, then I wouldn't be force-fed liberal bull crap every other time I went to do my homework. If I can't trust you to be fair in a textbook, then give me one good reason I should let you try and legislate my life to make it fair? No answer? Didn't think so. Would it kill anyone out there to put an Ann Coulter column in my textbook so I can have a palate cleanser of after listening to liberals carry on?

Anyway, this dumb prick in the textbook whined that we need to do better at teaching abstinence/safe sex and we need to raise the minimum wage. Ah, the classic stupid liberal arguments.

ABSTINENCE not only prevent unwanted pregnancy, but it also prevents the transmission of STDs. But no one teaches abstinence in public schools, or when they do it's taught right next to 'safe sex.' Heck, there are even fliers in the student lounge at my college about HIV/AIDS, and they tell teens that the best way to not get AIDS is to abstain, but if you don't want to abstain, then use a condom.

I have bad news: condoms are not fail proof. Sorry (except I'm not.)

And the minimum wage argument. This is where liberals truly prove that they have the collective intelligence of a box a rocks. They think it is SO great to up minimum wage. Well, I have more bad news. When minimum wage goes up and businesses are forced to pay workers more, there are two ways the businesses handle this increase. First, they fire people. Then, they pass the cost onto the consumer by raising the cost of their goods. So now your welfare mother is not only unemployed, she can't afford the now more expensive box of cereal to feed her kid. This is where the government comes in to help, and we get to start this miserable cycle all over again.

At this time, I would like to add that the author of the liberal spiel is also SEXIST, because I'm a white Conservative WOMAN who doesn't want to see the minimum wage go up. Just thought I'd toss that out there.

What actually drove me to carp about this over here on my blog is this report from Gateway Pundit that another dumb school is upset a kid had an American flag; this time the kid had it on his bike. You know, if you don't like what the American flag stands for (because believe me, it's not about the flag, it's about what that flag stands for) then you can leave. I'll pay for your plane ticket to France or Iran, take your pick. But it's only gonna be one way.

I know that some people don't like America, but I'm tired of it being the ones who live in America who don't like it. If you don't like it, stop dragging my country down. Just leave.

In fact, I'd really like it if you left. Then I wouldn't have to read anymore stupid liberal spiel in my textbooks.

Surrounded by Kooks and Nuts

I can't get away. Well, there's a bunch a crazy news out there, let's get started.

If Barack Obama gets impeached for nothing else, it ought to be this. He said that the U.S. can absorb another terrorist attack, even if it's like 9/11. Even if it's worse.

Woodward’s book portrays Obama and the White House as barraged by warnings about the threat of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and confronted with the difficulty in preventing them. During an interview with Woodward in July, the president said, “We can absorb a terrorist attack. We’ll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever… we absorbed it and we are stronger.”

I don't care how strong we are, you oaf. I don't want to be a casualty of the next attack. The article continues.

But somehow I can’t escape the feeling that this flippancy comes from Obama’s envy that George W.Bush got a “big event” to make his presidency while all Obama has gotten is a bad economy, massive job loss, and dissatisfaction at every level of society. No big disaster that he could make his nut on. Heck he even wasted the BP Oil spill with weeks of inactivity.

Others agree with me. “This is just another example of the Obama Administration’s flippant attitude towards the War on Terror – a war they refuse to even identify or address. Instead of assuming the United States can just ‘absorb’ another terrorist attack, President Obama should be focused on creating a serious global strategy and fighting the dangerous ideology of Islamic extremism to ensure an act of war like September 11th never happens again,” said David Bossie, executive producer of the film America at Risk.

But Obama doesn't care we get attacked again or not... hmm... maybe he is a closet Muslim.

Let's move on! I don't know how may of my readers follow Gateway Pundit's blog, but there has been a hit piece put out on him by Leftist organization Media Matters. Congratulations, Gateway! You're doing something right!

On a much more serious note, a woman in Virginia is about to be executed for arranging her husband and step-son's murder. I wouldn't mention this, but that nutjob who's running Iran had something to say about it, and I feel that deserves a moment. Here's what he said:

An Iranian news agency reported Tuesday that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the West of launching a "heavy propaganda" campaign against the case of an Iranian woman who had been sentenced to be stoned to death for adultery but failing to react with outrage over the imminent execution of Lewis in Virginia.

Why would we fail to be outraged over Lewis' execution but get worked up over the Iranian woman who's going to be stoned for adultery? Oh, I don't know... how about...

- Lewis had a trial by jury, and I'm sure that the jury actually contained women.

- There was actual evidence of wrongdoing by Lewis.

- We aren't biased based on gender, unlike Islam which believes that a woman's testimony is worth only half of a man's.

Nope. No reason whatever. I don't think that Iranian woman committed adultery. I think she was probably framed, and is going to die for it now, but I don't have all the facts so I shouldn't be making judgements.

The latest post-racial news came in, and it wasn't so post-racial after all. From Gateway Pundit's blog, Two men charged with violent racist attack on white teen:

DNA recently linked Ahmed Mohamed and Jonathan Baquiring to the attack in which a 16-year-old boy was robbed, taunted with racial insults, burned with a lit cigarette and punched repeatedly. Mohamed, 22, and Baquiring, 21, each were charged Monday with first-degree robbery and malicious harassment, the state’s hate-crime statute.

Baquiring was booked into the Seattle Correctional Facility just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the King County Jail Booking Register. His bail is set at $500,000.

Seattle police are still searching for Mohamed.

King County Deputy Prosecutor Samantha Kanner will also seek to have Mohamed held on $500,000 bail once he is arrested, according to charging papers.

The victim, Shane McClellan, said he was walking home around 2 a.m. when two men, whom he described as black and Filipino, asked him for a light.

He said the two men then robbed him and beat him for four hours, whipping him with his own belt while saying things like, “How do you like it, white boy?” and “This is for enslaving our people,” according to the police report.

McClellan, who is white, said the two men also poured Four Loko energy beer on him, burned him with a cigarette and urinated on him, police said.
When are you going to come out and denounce this, President Obama? We're supposed to be beyond race now, aren't we? But you'll hide, again. You make me sick.

If this post-racism, someone needs to hit the reset button.

Whatdaya Know, the Healthcare Bill Kills Jobs, Too.

Why am I not surprised? From Gateway Pundit, who got it from the Washington Post:

The sun hasn’t exactly set on Solar Planet, but anxiety over the fate of the Arlington tanning salon has been running high ever since a “tan tax” took effect Thursday.

One of the less publicized measures in the new health-care law, the tax imposes a 10 percent surcharge on the use of ultraviolet indoor tanning beds.

Supporters — including the Obama administration, congressional Democrats and dermatologists — have argued that the tax will raise an estimated $2.7 billion toward the cost of expanding health coverage to the uninsured, while discouraging a practice that increases the risk of skin cancer by as much as threefold in frequent users, according to scientific research.

But outraged tanning salon owners worry that the levy could deal a death blow to an industry already reeling from the recession.

“In 26 years of business this is the worst I’ve seen it,” said Scott Shortnacy, owner of the Arlington Solar Planet as well as six other branches in the Washington area. “Normally for people who tan, it’s a part of their lifestyle. They keep doing it even in a recession. But everybody has been looking for ways to cut back on those areas. … Our sales are down 20 to 30 percent.”

According to the Indoor Tanning Association, an industry trade group, most of the nation's 19,000 tanning salons are small businesses owned and staffed by women. Shortnacy said all but two of his several dozen employees are women. With business so slow, he opted against hiring the 10 to 15 seasonal workers he normally adds during the spring high season.
This is beyond stupid. This is just so, incredibly, stupid. In the last paragraph, a tanning salon owner points out how he didn't hire additional workers for the spring season. That's fifteen jobs out the door right there. And more jobs will follow; to avoid paying that tax, people will cut back on tanning, and when the patrons go, people who work in tanning salons are going to lose thier jobs.

So thanks, Democrats. Thanks for killing more jobs that people could have used. Thanks for nothing.

News Blurbs & a New Poster

First I have some news blurbs for you guys, then I want to talk about my new sidebar poster. Yep, that's I call my Pro-Israel, Let Freedom R.I.P., Fairness Doctrine, and Project 2,996 posters.

And now I have a new one, but news first.

Apple is a Democrat Organization

Maybe they think that if they kiss up to Obama he won't run them out of the country with tax hikes.

I call that 'delusional.' And I'm so glad I don't have an iPod. From Gateway Pundit:

Republican Ari David ... sent this today. The Republican candidate running against far left socialist Henry Waxman is being denied his free speech by Apple Computer , Inc. Apple officials notified Ari David that they were rejecting his submission for an app. They told his team that they were doing so on the grounds that they deemed the content in the app was defamatory against Henry Waxman.

By 'defamatory' they mean "told the complete unvarnished truth." You can see the list of unvarnished truths at GP's blog; I'm not going to relist everything.

This isn't the first time Apple has done something like this. But it does reinforce my happiness that my my mp3 is not an iPod.

Barack Obama Sinks Low... Again

This would be news if it wasn't, what, the 18,000th time? I stopped counting a year ago. Obama proves how stupid and delusional he is.

If you're drinking anything while reading this, you need to swallow and set your cup down before continuing, okay?

Good. Here's the headline: Obama Says Daniel Pearl's Beheading Captured World's Imagination.

Did you go off teleprompter again, Barack? Beheadings are NOT fuel for the imagination. They are sick and wrong!

That’s crazy sick. Obama told reporters yesterday that the video of Islamic radicals sawing off a Daniel Pearl’s head with a butter knife “capured the world’s imagination.”

“Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is.”
No, Barack. It was horrifying.

And… It had nothing to do with freedom of the press. They beheaded Daniel Pearl because he was an American and a Jew. They beheaded Daniel Pearl because they were Islamic radicals. Something you have not yet figured out.

Obama astonishes me. Just when you think he can't get lower, he does. Cutting someone's head off with a butter knife. I might need to throw up now.

And, the third news story: Arizona Tells Los Angeles to Shove Off

Okay, so maybe they didn't quite say it like that, but still. This brings a tear to my eye. A happy tear. Thank heaven some people -and states - are standing up for liberty. The letter I'm about to cross-post here comes from a Representative of the Arizona Corporation Commission, Gary Pierce, and was sent to the mayor of Los Angeles.

Dear Mayor Villaraigosa,

I was dismayed to learn that the Los Angeles City Council voted to boycott Arizona and Arizona-based companies — a vote you strongly supported — to show opposition to SB 1070 (Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act).

You explained your support of the boycott as follows: “While we recognize that as neighbors, we share resources and ties with the State of Arizona that may be difficult to sever, our goal is not to hurt the local economy of Los Angeles, but to impact the economy of Arizona. Our intent is to use our dollars — or the withholding of our dollars — to send a message.” (emphasis added)

I received your message; please receive mine. As a state-wide elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission overseeing Arizona’s electric and water utilities, I too am keenly aware of the “resources and ties” we share with the City of Los Angeles. In fact, approximately twenty-five percent of the electricity consumed in Los Angeles is generated by power plants in Arizona.

If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation. I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands. If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy.

People of goodwill can disagree over the merits of SB 1070. A state-wide economic boycott of Arizona is not a message sent in goodwill.

Sincerely,

Commissioner Gary Pierce

This guy is a hero. Well done, sir, well done.

And on that note, allow me to unveil my new Arizona Rocks! poster. Which, because I now love Arizona, has been shamelessly linked to an Arizona travel site, just to spite liberals.

It's definitely the most flamboyant of my sidebar posters, that's for sure. And I hope no one in Arizona is to mad at me for using part of their flag for the background, but I like how it looks like that. Some of the colors might have to be changed, and I'm sure it'll get moved around a few more times, but I'll deal with that later.

My Take on Arizona's New Law & Illegal Immigration

And in case you don't know, Arizona passed a law enforcing the border, and Obama is furious over this. Look at all those lost potential Democrat voters!

Well, now the illegals are protesting, including disrespecting the American flag, and I've have enough of this lunacy. It's like Rush Limbaugh said in his parody of Al Shaprton: "We will continue to act ridiculous until we get what we want."

I've had enough of this lunacy. I really have. So here's a comment that I posted on There's My Two Cents earlier today:

I grow weary of this, especially now that the Mexican government is shown as one big hypocrite.

If you disrespect American culture, get out of the country.

If you think we have to learn Spanish to cater to you, get out of the country.

If you think I need a great job so I can pay for your welfare, get out of the country.

If you think you have a 'right' to be here, without a green card, get out of the country.

If you think you have the right to vote when you're here illegally, get out of the country.

If you think disrespecting my country's flag will endear your plight to me, get out of the country.

If you think I should boycott Arizona because they decided they were tired of the BS from illegals, get out of the country.

If you think Arizona and Texas belong to Mexico, you should consider leaving the country.

If you're sneaking over the border so your child can be born in America and you can stay because he's an American citizen, you should think about leaving.

And if you're an illegal alien, or support illegal aliens being here and want to give them amnesty, you should get out of America. Right now. Because my patience has absolutely, completely run out.

This applies to illegals and Liberals.

I am so sick and tired of this lunacy. I have no patience left for it. If you start speaking Spanish to me, you'd better have your green card ready to show me, because you don't have one, I will kick your butt from here to Arizona and then call the police to report an illegal alien. I am just that angry.

Everyone seems to think that Arizona has some type of human rights violations going. I'm surprised the bloody U.N. hasn't run around screaming about it. But the only things illegals bring to this country is bloodshed and illegal drugs and they only thing they take out is American wealth. You'll get in a butt load of trouble if you're caught in Mexico without your papers, and we're expected to do nothing to protect our own borders? Especially when when illegals are shown to be violent? Are you freaking kidding me? And the ones that aren't shooting people and dealing drugs are still here ILLEGALLY* and either holding jobs that Americans could use or living off American welfare. This bothers me.

So feel free to run around screaming racist and racism and blaming the Republicans and the Tea Party and the Right-wingers and whoever else you feel like blaming, because I no longer care.

And if I find you're here illegally, I will restrain you by force if necessary and I will call the cops.

Comprende?

*For the people who don't know (here's looking at you, Democrats) this means these people are breaking law by being here.

So Now What?

I am tired. All this afternoon I have been on the blogs, and off the blogs, and on, and back off, and making phone calls, and making more phone calls. I have called every Democrat Representative in the state of Indiana and asked them to just say no.

The St. Louis Tea Party is holding a candlelight vigil tonight for the elderly and the unborn who will suffer is Deathcare comes to pass, and Even though I don't live in St Louis, I plan to light a candle too. That starts at seven, and it's six right now, which gives me an hour.

There are five Dems in IN, and I called them. I tried to call Bart Stupack, but couldn't leave a message because his phone box was full.

Then I tried to call Nancy Pelosi. Yes, that Nancy Pelosi. I couldn't figure out what to say to her, so I decided to give her the same message I gave every other Dem: "Please vote no on the healthcare bill." It takes probably less than 45 seconds for me to give my name, hometown, state, and that message.

I was surprised when I called her office that I actually got a living, breathing, human being. For all of ten seconds, for no sooner did I put out the words "no" and "Healthcare" than I was asked to hold, and then shipped over to an answering machine. Nice.

So I guess it was sort of pointless to call Pelosi, just like I was told. I thought I would try it anyway. I knew going in I would not be able to change her mind, but I thought I should leave no stone unturned.

Heaven help us. We're all going to need it now.

Rise Against - Prayer of the Refugee

Addendum: The Tea Party is burning red candles for the victims of Deathcare. I don't have a red candle; I'll just burn the one I've got.

6:20 pm right now. I should probably start looking for something to light that candle with.

This is What America Needs to Tell Barack Obama (and Big Government)

Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!

Yes, this is an AMV. For the Pretty Cure All Stars movie, no less. But the song here is what I want you to focus on.

I was over at Gateway Pundit's blog reading up on another of Obumble's fumbles and I had this video going in the background, and I'd heard this song before, but then the thought hit me that, you know, this is what America needs to tell Barack Obama.

The song is by Rise Against, and the song's name is Prayer of a Refugee. Here are the lyrics. I've linked back to what I consider to be some pertinent news stories related to the theme of this song from America to Obama.

Lyrics:

Warm yourself by the fire, son,
And the morning will come soon.
I'll tell you stories of a better time,
In a place that we once knew.

Before we packed our bags
And left all this behind us in the dust,
We had a place that we could call home,
And a life no one could touch.

Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,

You will let me down, down, down!

Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!

Down!

We are the angry and the desperate,
The hungry, and the cold,
We are the ones who kept quiet,
And always did what we were told.

But we've been sweating while you slept so calm,
In the safety of your home.
We've been pulling out the nails that hold up
Everything you've known.

Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!

Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!

So open your eyes child,
Let's be on our way.
Broken windows and ashes
Are guiding the way.

Keep quiet no longer,
We'll sing through the day,
Of the lives that we've lost,
And the lives we've reclaimed.

Go!

Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!

Don't hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don't need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!

Don't hold me up...
(I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground)
Don't hold me up...
(I don't need your help)
No! No! No!
Don't hold me up!
(I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground)
Don't hold me up!
(I don't need your help, I'll stand my ground)
Don't let me down, down, down, down, down!

America Rising

I was on the YouTube amin page today, on my way to my favorite music videos, when I saw this and stopped to watch it. This is epic, I urge everyone who comes through here to stop and watch this video.

Happy RamaHanuKwanzMas!!

Let's make about 3% of the population mad! (Because liberals have no sense of humor.)

As most of you probably know, it's December. Even if you don't have a calender, chances are you have watched TV and seen a Christmas commercial, or gone to a store, or one of a dozen other things that will tell you one way or another, it's Christmas.

And this of course means that somewhere, some lunatic liberals is demanding that Christ be taken out of Christmas.

With that in mind, I give you Glenn Beck's Christmas classic, Happy RamaHanuKwanzMas.

Hat tip to Michelle Malkin for pointing this out to me, and others, about a year ago now. In the song, PC, of course, means politically correct.

Lyrics:

Have a RamaHanuKwanzMas, it's the PC time of year
Every holiday displayed because of morbid fear
Have a RamaHanuKwanzMas, yes we know the name is queer
But oh good golly can't offend nobody on (____)mas this year

Oh no the Eskimos need a holiday
We'll get right back to you
When we think up one for gays

Happy RamaHanuKwanzMas
What a time for winter cheer
But if you see a Christmas tree
You'll hear Christmas jeers

Screw you, ACLU for winning the twelve
Million in your lawsuit, versus Santa and his elves

Have a RamaHanuKwanzMas
And everyone must now adhere
So by golly don't hang up that holly
On (____)mas this year

{Yes, and no more sleigh bells either}

Well, with that out of the way, I return to celebrating Christmas. Everyone, have a Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas Happy Holidays MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

The Meaning of 'Transparency' Was Lost in Translation

You know, when the Democrats (Which one was it? Obama about the White House or Pelosi about the House? Either way it doesn't matter.) promised to have the most transparent administration ever, I thought they meant that literally, like, oh, for example, with no sneaking around behind closed doors trying to hide what they're doing.

Well, this wasn't what I was thinking when I thought of transparency:

Transparency like you’ve never seen before

Today marks a major milestone in government transparency -- and an important lesson in the unintended consequences of such vigorous disclosure.

We previously announced that the White House in December of this year would -- for the first time in history -- begin posting all White House visitor records under the terms of our new voluntary disclosure policy. As part of that initiative, we also offered to look back at the records created before the announcement of the policy and answer specific requests for visitor records created earlier in the year.

So far we’ve processed 110 disclosure requests from September that yielded nearly 500 visitor records. All of these are now available on the White House website in accessible, searchable format for anyone to browse or download. Consistent with our earlier announcement that we will only release records 90 days or older, this first batch covers the period of time between January 20, 2009 to July 31, 2009. Future batches will be posted on an ongoing basis.

This is what you mean by transparency? Posting visitor records on the Internet? Are you freaking kidding me? When you said 'the most transparent administration eva,' most of us thought you were going to honest about what you doing up there on the hill. Not that you would post White House visitor records online.

I guess the meaning of 'transparency was lost in translation.

Obama to Patriotism: Why Don't You Just Drop Dead?

Now I'm really pissed. Word comes via Gateway Pundit that Obama has passed legislation to make 9/11 an empty holiday celebrating Marxist/socialist values instead of commemorating the victims who died. From the American Spectator:

The Obama White House is behind a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert Sept. 11 into a day of leftist celebration and statist idolatry.

This effort to reshape the American psyche has nothing to do with healing the nation and everything to do with easing the nation along in the ongoing radical transformation of America that President Obama promised during last year's election campaign. The president signed into law a measure in April that designated Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service, but it's not likely many lawmakers thought this meant that day was going to be turned into a celebration of ethanol, carbon emission controls, and radical community organizing.

The administration's plans were outlined in an Aug. 11 White House-sponsored teleconference call run by Obama ally Lennox Yearwood, president of the Hip Hop Caucus, and Liv Havstad, the group's senior vice president of strategic partnerships and programs.

Yearwood, who uses the honorific "Reverend" before his name, has been in the news in recent years, usually for getting arrested. After Democrats took back Congress, the rowdy activist was handcuffed outside a congressional hearing in September 2007 when Gen. David Petraeus was to testify. Yearwood told the "Democracy Now" radio program that he wanted to attend the hearing to hear Petraeus give his report. "I knew that when officers lie, soldiers die," he said.

On the Aug. 11 call, Yearwood and other leaders kept saying repeatedly that they wanted 9/11 to be used for something "positive," "forward-leaning," and "productive," said a source with knowledge of the teleconference.

The plan is to turn a "day of fear" that helps Republicans into a day of activism called the National Day of Service that helps the left. In other words, nihilistic liberals are planning to drain 9/11 of all meaning.

A day of fear? How about a day when we remember the 3,000 people who died? Does that ever occur to you FREAKING IDIOTS?!?

Here's a force to blacklist, and wouldn't you know, OBAMACORN is on that list.

A coalition including the unsavory left-wing pressure group Color of Change and about 60 far-left, environmentalist, labor, and corporate shakedown groups participated in the call. Groups on the call included: ACORN, AFL-CIO, Apollo Alliance, Community Action Partnership, Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, 80 Million Strong for Young American Jobs, Friends of the Earth, Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, Mobilize.org, National Black Police Association, National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, National Council of Negro Women, National Wildlife Federation, RainbowPUSH Coalition, Urban League, and Young Democrats of America.

Color of Change is the extremist racial grievance group that isn't happy that TV's Glenn Beck did several news packages on Van Jones, the self-described "communist" and "rowdy black nationalist" who became the president's green jobs czar after jumping on the environmentalist bandwagon. The White House may be behind a push to destroy Beck by convincing advertisers to stop buying time on his show. Jones was also on the board of the Apollo Alliance, a hard-left environmentalist group that is now running large chunks of the Obama administration. The group has acknowledged that it dictated parts of the February stimulus bill to Congress.

With the help of the Obama administration, the coalition is launching a public relations campaign under the radar of the mainstream media -- which remains almost uniformly terrified of criticizing the nation's first black president -- to try to change 9/11 from a day of reflection and remembrance to a day of activism, food banks, and community gardens.
Heck no. I will not be an activist, and I will be remembering the victims!!! This load of BS could be even bigger than Spendulus.

Of course, the annual commemoration of the 2001 terrorist attacks belongs to the entire nation, but President Obama and the activist left don't see it that way. They view the nationwide remembrance of the murder of 3,000 Americans by Islamic totalitarians as an obstacle to winning over the hearts and minds of the American people.

They view Sept. 11 as a "Republican" day because it focuses the public on supposedly "Republican" issues like patriotism, national security, and terrorism. According to liberals, 9/11 was long ago hijacked by Republicans and their enablers and unfairly used to bludgeon helpless Democrats at election time.
Emphasis added. I'd ask if Obama and his cronies have forgotten, but you can bet your boots they forgot what had happened by September 12, 2001. 9/11 wasn't hijacked by Republicans. It was commemorated in 2002, and every year after then, by Patriots. But now that Obama's remaking America, patriotism is apparently a bad thing.
On Aug. 4, the White House offered a glimpse into its plans to desecrate 9/11 for political advantage. Jones appeared in a largely ignored 33-minute video posted on the official blog of the White House to discuss the administration's plan to flush 9/11 down the memory hole just as it has tried to do by rechristening the Global War on Terror the "Overseas Contingency Operations."

Of this National Day of Service, Jones says little except that it will be a great opportunity "for people to connect, to find other people in your peer group who are also passionate about repowering America but also greening up America and cleaning up America."

On the same day, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson, and Department of Energy Under Secretary Kristina Johnson and activists held a low-key press conference. At it, Yearwood said the National Day of Service will be "the first milestone" of a larger effort called Green the Block that is attempting to convince Americans that the utopian fantasy of a so-called green economy is possible without turning the U.S. into a Third World country.

"From policy creation to community implementation, the Green the Block campaign wants to see access and opportunity created for all Americans, to build prosperity and a healthier planet for future generations," Yearwood said.

At no time does anyone explain why this National Day of Service has to be held -- of all the 365 days in a year -- on Sept. 11.

What a good question. This is new low, even for you, Obama. Well, this is great. Now I get to commemorate 9/11 and do everything I can to undermine environmentalists, all on the same day.

Congratulations Mr. President, just when I thought you can't go any lower, you take another nosedive.

This is taking 9/11 Syndrome to a whole new level.

America, you okay?
Are you okay?
Are you okay America?

America you okay?
Are you okay?
Are you okay America?

America you okay?
Are you okay?
Are you okay, America?

You've been hit by,
You've struck by,
A smooth liberal.

Critics Beware!!

Michelle Malkin and Gateway Pundit report that the White House is asking snitches to hand in information about people like me, who don't support a government health plan socialized medicine.

From Gateway Pundit:

Today, Barack Obama initiated the first stage of his Marxist snitch network. The White House asked supporters to report anyone who publicly opposes President Obama’s plan to implement a government-centric overhaul of the health care system.

And from the White House website itself:

Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to "uncover" the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions.

Except the truth is scary. I don't know about you, but I don't relish the thought of have life-saving medicine denied me, or being told I have to wait for surgery - sometimes because there aren't enough beds. How would you like it if this happened to you and your family because Barack Obama decided to force us all on a government plan?

Oops, there I go again. Anyway, back to the White House:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

How about Obama's Healthcare plan? That's pretty fishy.

Red State adds:
...[A]s we’ve seen in the health care debate to date, the term “disinformation” is used by the Obama White House as a catchall to describe any opposition to the President’s push for single-payer, government-run health care — meaning the White House wants to be informed of any forwarded emails or blog posts or any “casual conversations” that could be taken as opposition to their health care overhaul plan.

The White House has, as yet, offered no explanation of what it is they plan to do with the tips on policy opposition they hope to receive from citizen informers.

Really? That's odd. I'd like to see what they'd do, especially with the Constitution itself blocking them.

I wonder why Obama wants people who tell the truth reported to him ... could it be that the Internet lets the truth out? And, why does it even matter to Obama? It sure didn't matter back in the Bush-bashing days. Obama and his cronies do not have the right to restrain bloggers who tell the truth since, as I said earlier, it goes against the very first amendment of the Constitution.

You've probably seen it before, and if you haven't, I've had it on this blog for nearly as long as I've had DR4I. It goes like this:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Of course, Obama has no trouble getting rid of or ignoring these sorts of things whenever it becomes to inconvenient for him.

You see, I have the right that, since I don't like Obama's Health care plan, I can speak out against it. Now what Obama's trying to do here I don't know, and I'm not sure I want to fathom.

The real question is, do you want to know the truth about this government health care plan, or not? I've offered a bit of the truth, just a sampling of what's happened in other countries that have a government health care plan. I strongly encourage you to go look through this archive , which is full of the truth from other countries that have government run health care. These are the things the media will never show you.

Yahoo Finance reports:

If you prize choosing your own cardiologist or urologist under your company's Preferred Provider Organization plan (PPO), if your employer rewards your non-smoking, healthy lifestyle with reduced premiums, if you love the bargain Health Savings Account (HSA) that insures you just for the essentials, or if you simply take comfort in the freedom to spend your own money for a policy that covers the newest drugs and diagnostic tests -- you may be shocked to learn that you could lose all of those good things under the rules proposed in the two bills that herald a health-care revolution.

In short, the Obama platform would mandate extremely full, expensive, and highly subsidized coverage -- including a lot of benefits people would never pay for with their own money -- but deliver it through a highly restrictive, HMO-style plan that will determine what care and tests you can and can't have. It's a revolution, all right, but in the wrong direction.

That whole article is worth reading. Socialized medicine, A.K.A. "Government health care reform" has never worked, and never will work. The only way it would work was if everyone had the exact same problems. But they don't. This health care bill will hurt more people than it helps. The government can't run a program like this. No government can.

So now Obama wants to know who's out there telling the truth about his health care plan. I wonder how that's gonna play out.

One Final Point:

Does Sonia Sotomayer Have Empathy for Terrorists?

Two things I want to discuss today, that racist witch Sonia Sototmayor and the Gitmo detainees.

First, we'll start with the Gitmo detainees. As a student of 9/11 I was hopping mad when I turned on the TV this morning and learned that Obummer had smuggled one into the country last night. Heaven help us, Obama is trying his absolute hardest to get us all killed. Expect to hear screaming in this corner of the blogosphere if they're freaking stupid enough to let this guy go:

U.S. authorities have brought the first Guantanamo Bay detainee to the United States, flying him into New York to face trial for bombing U.S. embassies, the Justice Department said Tuesday.

The department said Ahmed Ghailani arrived in the early morning hours Tuesday, to be held in U.S. law enforcement custody until his trial in federal court in lower Manhattan. Ghailani was expected to make his initial appearance in Manhattan federal court later Tuesday.

"With his appearance in federal court today, Ahmed Ghailani is being held accountable for his alleged role in the bombing of U.S. Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya and the murder of 224 people," Attorney General Eric Holder said in a press release. "The Justice Department has a long history of securely detaining and successfully prosecuting terror suspects through the criminal justice system, and we will bring that experience to bear in seeking justice in this case."

Ghailani's trial will be an important test case for the Obama administration's plan to close the detention center at Guantanamo in seven months and bring some of the suspects to trial.

Two hundred twenty-four people. He murdered 224 people.

New York, you should be worried.

The government thinks everything will turn out alright. I don't. I'm innately suspicious of the man who said that:

...[F]ighting a war against fanatic barbarians "with one hand tied behind your back" is being on "the better side of history," even though innocent lives are put at risk.

That means Obama is going to risk your life to make sure everything meets his standards. History doesn't care, by the way. All it does is prove repetitively what blithering idiots liberals are. Back to the detainee:

He was categorized as a high-value detainee by U.S. authorities after he was captured in Pakistan in 2004 and was transferred to the detention center at the U.S. naval base in Cuba two years later.

Since his capture, Ghailani has denied knowing the TNT and oxygen tanks he delivered would be used to make a bomb. He also denied buying a vehicle used in one of the attacks, saying he could not drive.

Now, the Obama administration is trying to put him into the U.S. criminal justice system, despite claims by Republican critics that doing so would endanger American lives. Some lawmakers have opposed bringing any Guantanamo detainees to the U.S. for trial, even in heavily guarded settings.

Last month, President Barack Obama said that preventing Ghailani from coming to U.S. soil "would prevent his trial and conviction. And after over a decade, it is time to finally see that justice is served, and that is what we intend to do."

Justice is served, eh? I doubt it. But we'll see.

Now, onto Sonia Sotomayor. From New England Republican:

Here’s Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor on the ability of female Latina and white male judges to reach decisions:

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”
So, the easiest way to determine if this is a racist comment is to flip the sides and see if it still flies:

“I would hope that a wise white male with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Latina woman who hasn’t lived that life.”
Is there anybody out there that wants to make the case that the 2nd quote wouldn’t end the career of a white male judge? I didn’t think so. It looks like Barack Obama was listening to Jeremiah Wright when the later was spewing his racist rhetoric those 20 years.
This is what I wanted to bring up, that quote. That right there tells me this woman couldn't do a decent job to save her - or anyone else's, for that matter's - life.

This is woman is a racist. Technically, I guess she would be called a reverse racist, but I would hate to have to stand in front of this woman and ask for her help. Being as she's a Latina woman with all the richness of her [in]experience, I daresay that I, the "poor white woman", would be dissed as not having gone through the riches of experiences this racist is citing.

Here's what two other bloggers had to say about her:

From There's My Two Cents:
... [T]his woman is bringing a serious axe-grinding to the highest court in the land, and is planning to make decisions based on race and gender rather than the law... Personally, I think this is only one of the two worst aspects about her. The other is that she believes it is the job of judges to write law from the bench. Both are blatantly unconstitutional, and will spell major, major problems for Americans down the road.

Agreed. From American Thinker:
Not to belittle Judge Sotomayor's achievements,
What achievements? Princeton doesn't count as achievement, and neither does becoming a judge. Hundreds of people do both of those things, so neither of them makes Sotomayor special. (Incidentally, in a sane world, being Latina Hispanic whatever would not make her special either.)
... but the "richness of her experiences" seems to drop off past adolescence. Once she started Princeton (at age 18?), her experiences of successful student, attorney and judge might be rich, but how different from white males who also became judges?

Believe it or not, white males can have rich experiences. And some rich experiences are known to happen after childhood.

...I reveal these things not to get sympathy or anything like it, but because I am sick and tired of so many non-whites and females acting like white males know nothing of life but some kind of mythical white-bread experience. Here's a hint: nobody grew up with Leave It To Beaver or Ozzie and Harriet. Those were TV shows.

White males in real life tend not to go on Oprah, so you non-white females might not be familiar with us.

...The richness of our experiences is what we white guys call "life." I'm sure Princeton was rich, too.

Judge Sotomayor's statement does not bother me because it is racist. It bothers me because it reveals shallowness and a poverty of experience that has no place on the bench of the Supreme Court.
The racist is what bothers me, not the shallowness, though I will agree she is shallow. Another problem is her "empathy," which came up during a discussion I had with my father about her. The point made was, who should she empathize with? The plaintiff? The defendant?

You see the problem here? Empathy should not be on the table, and this woman should not have been selected by Obama because of her "empathy."

Then again, this is Obama's pick, so who am I kidding?

Imminent Threat To Your Health!!

It's called Socialized medicine, occasionally disguised as National Healthcare:

Today, Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus is meeting with the other members of the committee to discuss options for expanding insurance coverage. The slides they are using to guide their discussion — available here — are illuminating to say the least.

Among other things, they indicate that the committee is considering a requirement
that, if an Obama-like plan were to pass, all health-insurance plans would have to conform to one of four benefit designs: lowest, low, medium, and high. That's it. Four options for everyone in the United States, determined by the federal government.

Of course, the committee is cognizant of President Obama's promise that Americans who like the insurance they have today will be able to keep it. So they create a carve-out for "grandfathered plans." Existing insurance can stay just as it is, they say.

Except that's not really true. Because elsewhere in the document, the committee makes it clear that existing insurance arrangements that do not comply with government requirements cannot enroll new entrants. Nor can any enrollees get the new premium subsidies the committee is contemplating. Consequently, no "grandfathered plan" will be viable, or at least not for long. Understandably, many people would want to leave them to get government's money, and the pool for spreading insurance risk would become less stable as people exit for a host of reasons (like when they switch jobs or get married) but cannot be replaced with a new entrant.

Regarding "affordability," the committee is apparently looking at providing new premium subsidies to everyone below 400% of poverty. For a family of four, that's about $88,000 per year. A very large segment of the working-age population falls below that threshold. If enacted, it would be a massive new health-care entitlement piled on top of the unaffordable ones already on the books.

And then there's the government-run insurance plan. The committee outline suggests four options: a Medicare-like plan; a plan which looks like Medicare but pays higher rates to doctors and hospitals; a plan that tries to create some distance from the government with "third-party" administration; and a state-based public plan. (The committee also notes that it is possible the legislation would not include a new government-run option at all.)

These alternative design options for the "government option" are really a distraction because it really doesn't matter what such a plan looks like at enactment. What matters is what it will become over time. Safeguards today can be easily overridden later. When the government micro-manages health insurance, it is inevitable that arbitrary price-setting will become the favored method of trying to control total costs because it creates the illusion that beneficiaries are protected. It's only the doctors and hospitals who are getting paid less for each service rendered, politicians claim. Of course, that's the first step down the slippery slope to waiting lists.

There is one word that effectively describes the government: Inefficient. These people can't do anything right, other then spend money. Eventually it will come down to whether or not your life is worth saving. The Post Office is bankrupt, every bailout has failed or been wasted.

Everything the government touches, it destroys. The government also appears to be absolutely incapable of learning from other country's mistakes. This has been tried in other countries, and it always ends badly.

Great Britain:
- A 22 Year old woman dies while waiting for an MRI. Turns out, she had cancer. She may have had a fighting chance if she hadn't had to wait thirteen weeks for that MRI. And she was marked higher on the waiting list.
- The inadequacy of British Hospitals: Cold, smelly, and poorly maintained.

Canada:
- They send you south.
- I hope you don't need a dentist soon.
- No medicine for you. No, it doesn't matter that you have cancer.

There's more stories, from other countries, that you can see here. This has been tried, time and time again. It has yet to work.

Socialized medicine'll kill ya.
