Fade to Black .... Update Below: TV Tropes Protest and IN Senator Contacts...Update II: It's Going, Going, Galt!

The theme today is darkness. Google has blacked out their logo, though their site still operates. Wikipedia has made good on their promise to black out their site. When I went there this morning, I saw the page I was on for a scant moment before it vanished and this screen showed up.

I sorely underestimated the problems this bill would cause until I saw Google and Wikipedia both upset over it. But they're right. Just because I'm a little late to the party doesn't mean that they're not right.

The bills [SOPA and PIPA] are intended to strengthen protections against copyright infringement and intellectual property theft, but Internet advocates say they would stifle expression the World Wide Web. In essence, the legislation has pitted content providers -- like the music and film industries -- against Silicon Valley.

"It's not a battle of left versus right," said progressive activist Adam Green, whose organization Progressive Change Campaign Committee on Tuesday hosted a press conference with opponents of the bills. "Frankly, it's a battle of old versus new."

...The popular link-sharing site Reddit got the ball rolling for today's 24-hour Internet blackout. In addition to Reddit and Wikipedia, other sites participating include BoingBoing, Mozilla, WordPress, TwitPic, MoveOn.org and the ICanHasCheezBurger network. Search giant Google is showing its solidarity with a protest doodle and message: "Tell Congress: Please don't censor the web," but the site planned no complete blackout...

...Internet companies and their investors would readily say that they're holding the "blackout" to protect their corporate interests -- and the entire burgeoning Internet-based economy.
"The success of Reddit... is one of the smaller examples of the success that has happened in our industry -- and will continue to unless bills like SOPA or PIPA become law," Ohanian said Tuesday.

Under the rules SOPA or PIPA would impose, Ohanian and others argue, start ups wouldn't be able to handle the costs that come with defending their sites against possible violations. Such sites would not be able to pay the large teams of lawyers that established sites like Google or Facebook can afford.

The legislation in question targets foreign companies whose primary purpose is to sell stolen or counterfeit goods -- but opponents say domestic companies could still be held liable for linking to their content. While sites like Reddit wouldn't have a legal duty to monitor their sites all the time, "you might have your pants sued off of you" if you don't, said Jayme White, staff director for the Senate Finance Subcommittee on international trade.

So if by mistake I link to a foreign website that deal in counterfeit goods, I get taken to task by the US Attorney General.
And what about American sites that use copyright content, such as YouTube. Arguably, YouTube allows for people to steal whatever songs they want, but on the other hand, I own six CDs that I would never have bought if I hadn't heard the songs first on YouTube.

I agree that piracy should be stopped, but this bill is a net cast too wide to do any good - it almost promises to do more harm than good.

The Senate is scheduled to have a vote on the bill on January 24th.

Kudos to Google, Wikipedia, and all the other sites that are calling attention to this attack on freedom.

Update 2: The other sites worth seeing.

First, Google, for posterity.

I like what they've done with their logo. I contemplated something similar, but it's kind of hard to pull off when your original background for your banner is black.

Here we have LiveJournal's protests.

And finally ... I had some doubts about posting this. I had heard WordPress was protesting, but WordPress also killed an anti-Islam blog I really enjoyed. I did eventually go over to see what they were doing. It's kind of touching in a squishy way. If someone complains about you, we'll take your blog down, but we don't want to the government taking it down. (For the record, the blog they took down was Bare Naked Islam.)

Per Gateway Pundit and The Guardian, we have this list of the sponsors of SOPA dealing in .... copyright violations!! No joke! This bill that will shut websites down for not policing every single site they link too was written by a bunch of copyright infringers!!

I never did manage to get through to Lugar, it was either a machine, or when I did get through I was on a very wonky version of hold. I did get through to Coats and it may have been a wasted phone call, but I used to trust Mike Pence to do the right thing, too, and he tried to keep the government running when I wanted it shut down, so you can't be too careful.

Here is a giant collection of banners and logos and sites that did something to protest SOPA. Very cool.

So today, in protest of SOPA, the entire Internet went on complete of partial strike, or stood in solidarity with the strikers. The Internet went Galt, and I hear that Congress is getting a backlash now. Let's take a look...Ooh, from the New York Times, no less!

Phone calls and e-mails poured in to Congressional offices against the Stop Online Piracy Act in the House and the Protect I.P. Act in the Senate. One by one, prominent backers of the bills dropped off. ...

Then trickle turned to flood — adding Senators Mark Kirk of Illinois and Roy Blunt of Missouri, and Representatives Lee Terry of Nebraska and Ben Quayle of Arizona. At least 10 senators and nearly twice that many House members announced their opposition.

The NYT then goes on to talk about how Hollywood is so menaced by the new force of the Internet, accusing the Internet of lying and all that other crap. Uh-huh. This, I think, is the other reason Congress wanted this bill. Without freedom to disseminate information, which the Internet gives us, how will we ever find the truth? As I said above, I own 6 CDs I would never have bought if someone hadn't posted copyrighted content to YouTube so I could listen and go, 'hey, I like that!'

The fight isn't quite over yet, but we've all made a good effort today. Kudos to everyone.

Even Wikipedia Understands the Danger of SOPA

Dear Congress, isn't there something else you should be working on, like lowering the deficit? Or does Freedom of Speech scare you that badly?

Alright, so Wikipedia isn't the best website in the world, but as far as extensive information goes, they are pretty good for it. It might not all be true but I'm a fiction writer so I don't care anyway. Yay artistic licence.

Wikipedia has something of a leftist tilt, but I've only noticed it in minor places. (I deal with it by staying off those pages.) I've seen that some of the more controversial articles are generally kept locked so that no one can come in off the web and edit them, which is a nice touch. The site also has extensive hyperlinks when they document things, and I find these to be very helpful.

Anyway, why is this important, you ask? Because even Wikipedia is in a tizzy over SOPA.

Here, have a look:

For the past several days, Wikipedia editors have been discussing whether to stage a protest against the proposed Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). I’ve been asked to give some comments on the bill and explain what effect the proposed legislation might have on a free and open Internet as well as Wikipedia. My goal in this blog post is to provide some information and interpretation that I hope will be helpful to Wikipedia editors as they discuss the bill.

SOPA has earned the dubious honor of facilitating Internet censorship in the name of fighting online infringement. The Wikimedia Foundation opposed that legislation, but we should be clear that Wikimedia has an equally strong commitment against copyright violations. The Wikimedia community, which has developed an unparalleled expertise in intellectual property law, spends untold hours ensuring that our sites are free of infringing content. In a community that embraces freely-licensed information, there is no room for copyright abuses.

We cannot battle, however, one wrong while inflicting another. SOPA represents the flawed proposition that censorship is an acceptable tool to protect rights owners' private interests in particular media. That is, SOPA would block entire foreign websites in the United States as a response to remove from sight select infringing material. This is so even when other programs like the Digital Millennium Copyright Act have found better balances without the use of such a bludgeon. For this reason, we applaud the excellent work of a number of like-minded organizations that are leading the charge against this legislation, including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Public Knowledge, Creative Commons, Center for Democracy and Technology, NetCoalition, the Internet Society, AmericanCensorship.org, and others.

On Tuesday, after receiving input on the original version of the bill, the House Judiciary Committee issued a new version of SOPA for its mark-up scheduled for this coming Thursday. A vote on that mark-up may take place on the same day. At the end of this article, I provide a summary of the most relevant parts of this new version of SOPA as well as a summary of the legislative process ...

In honesty, this new version of the bill is better (and credit goes to the Judiciary staff for that). But, it continues to suffer from the same structural pitfalls, including its focus on blocking entire international sites based on U.S.-based allegations of specific infringement. Criticism has been significant. Representative Darrell Issa, a California Republican, for example, felt the bill “retains the fundamental flaws of its predecessor by blocking Americans’ ability to access websites, imposing costly regulation on Web companies and giving Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice broad new powers to police the Internet.”

Members of our community are weighing whether a protest action is appropriate. I want to be very clear: the Wikimedia Foundation believes that the decision of whether to stage a protest on-wiki, such as shutting down the site or putting a banner at the top, is a community decision. The Wikimedia Foundation will support editors in whatever they decide to do. The purpose of this post is to provide information for editors that will aid them in their discussions.

I’ve been asked for a legal opinion. And, I will tell you, in my view, the new version of SOPA remains a serious threat to freedom of expression on the Internet.

Even Wikipedia gets the danger in this bill. So why is Congress dumber than an encyclopedia my instructors don't let me use while writing college papers?

Wikipedia is going to black out the site, with the exception of SOPA-relevant articles, for 24 hours sometime on or around January 18, 2011. Read the whole thing: it's lengthy but I think it's worth it.

Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that has been developed by tens of thousands of volunteers from all over the world over the last 11 years. Together, we have created millions of articles containing billions of facts, referenced to hundreds of thousands of sources from around the world. We have grown to be one of the most frequently accessed websites in the world. Wikipedians are fiercely proud and protective of our ability to freely share knowledge with the rest of the world, as the first of 846 related projects in 280 languages working under the umbrella of the Wikimedia Foundation.

In late 2011, the United States Congress proposed two legislative bills, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA), which legal scholars and others have advised have the potential to significantly change the way that information can be shared through the Internet. It is the opinion of the English Wikipedia community that both of these bills, if passed, would be devastating to the free and open web.

Over the course of the past 72 hours, over 1800 Wikipedians have joined together to discuss proposed actions that the community might wish to take against SOPA and PIPA. This is by far the largest level of participation in a community discussion ever seen on Wikipedia, which illustrates the level of concern that Wikipedians feel about this proposed legislation. The overwhelming majority of participants support community action to encourage greater public action in response to these two bills. Of the proposals considered by Wikipedians, those that would result in a "blackout" of the English Wikipedia, in concert with similar blackouts on other websites opposed to SOPA and PIPA, received the strongest support.

On careful review of this discussion, the closing administrators note the broad-based support for action from Wikipedians around the world, not just from within the United States. The primary objection to a global blackout came from those who preferred that the blackout be limited to readers from the United States, with the rest of the world seeing a simple banner notice instead. We also noted that roughly 55% of those supporting a blackout preferred that it be a global one, with many pointing to concerns about similar legislation in other nations. For example, one British editor stated "American law is America's business, but law that affects Wikipedia worldwide is an issue of worldwide interest", a principle we felt had considerable support.

Therefore, on behalf of the English Wikipedia community, the Wikimedia Foundation is asked to allocate resources and assist the community in blacking out the project globally for 24 hours starting at 05:00 UTC on January 18, 2012, or at another time as determined by the Wikimedia Foundation. This should be carried out while respecting technical limitations of the underlying software, and should specifically prevent editing wherever possible. Provisions for emergency access to the site should be included in the blackout software. In order to assist our readers and the community at large to educate themselves about SOPA and PIPA, these articles and those closely related to them will remain accessible for reading purposes if possible. Wikipedians are urged to work with WMF staff to develop effective messaging for the "blackout screens" that directs readers to suitable online resources. Sister projects, such as the German and Italian Wikipedias and Wikimedia Commons, have indicated an intention to support the same principles with banners on those sites, and the support of other projects is welcome and appreciated.

Even Wikipedia gets it.

SOPA is just the latest in a long line of assaults on the Internet, as you can see from my new and improved ~~fairness doctrine~~ ~~net neutrality~~ SOPA banner up there, slated to replace the old 'fairness doctine' one very shortly.

Is online piracy a problem? Yes. But SOPA is too wide-reaching to fix the problem without tightly regulating every single American website.

Hmmm. Now that I think about it, that smells a little like socialism. But our government couldn't possible want to foist that on us, could it?

Trespass on the Case: The Beginning

So for awhile now I have contemplated beginning another blog. I know: I can't keep up with the one I have so of course I should start another one.

Realizing that one blog is probably enough for me (notice that the other two I have haven't been updated in forever), I decided that I would not start a new blog. Instead, any posts that I would have put on the new blog will be here under the heading of 'Trespass on the Case."

Now, let me explain the name.

'Trespass on the Case' is a legal term used to describe an event where someone you know steals something from you, and you trespass on their property to retrieve your stolen chattels. That action is called trespass on the case. but I like to think of the term a little differently, perhaps as trespassing on the case of a story, news item, or product review. Or law case, as the case may be.

It's a bit of an unusual term, which is why I thought it would make a great title for a blog.

The new icon in the sidebar over there can be considered something of a shrunken banner for TotC. I'm going to try and hyperlink it so that all TotC posts can be accessed by clicking on it - but we'll see how well that works.

How to Embed a YouTube Video in Blogger Post, In About That Many Steps

So I see one of my Friends needs help embedding a video onto her blog. Thusly, while I was working on my Halloween post the other night I took [too many] screenshots of the embedding process. Now I can write up this [hopefully] handy tutorial. For the record, I use Internet Explorer 8 when embedding videos. I don't know why it would matter if you use FireFox, but I use IE. All the pictures you see in this tutorial -yeah, that IE. (Sad, isn't it?)

First you have to find the video.You all don't get any pictures for this. Go YouTube and find a video. I'll wait here.

All done? Alright, good. Now, you should have picked the video and have it open so you can watch it on your screen. Now refer to the following (click to enlarge):

Now, you see down there I have circled in red a little button reading 'share.' Once you have selected your video, click this button.

Once you have clicked this button, you should have this little window pop open beneath it. I have circled the embed button. This is what you want to click next.

This expands another little window. The text highlighted in blue is the embed code that you will copy and paste into Blogger. But before you do that, check and make sure that the video is the size you want (I use 420x315 because that fits well into the post section of my blog). Also, you may want to prevent YouTube from offering related videos. This box is usually selected when you open the embed window, just click on it to uncheck it. If 420x315 is too large for your blog - or blog sidebar, as I had three video embedded in the sidebar of this very blog at one point, but that's a story for another time - then you can use the custom boxes to find a size that fits your blog. If you type a number into one of the boxes, YouTube automatically matches it to make sure the video still looks alright.

But anyway, you have your code. Right click, and hit copy. Then get back over to your blog.

You are going to need to have your new post/ edit post window set to 'Edit HTML.' As you can see, it is one of the tabs at the top of the page. I usually try and have it set like that before I'm ready to embed teh video.

Make sure you have all of the spacing sorted out, then right click and paste the embed code.

You should be able to see the newly embedded paste code.

If this is the only vidoe you want to post, then hit enter once or twice to move the typing bar away from the code, and then you can either keep typing in the Edit HTML page or you can set the thing back to 'Compose.' If you have more videos to post, than keep the page in 'Edit HTML and repeat the previous steps as needed.

Use the preview button before you publish the post (or close the YouTube videopage) to make sure that the size you choose for the video fits the blog. This isn't always possible with some videos, but it's always good to check.

And this is where I should post a video to prove that my steps work, but these are the same steps I used for my Halloween video post-a-palooza, so if the Halloween Post doesn't convince you that I know how to embed a YouTube video into my blog, I don't know what posting one here is gonna do.

Reading Comprehension is Down, I See

It never ceases to amaze me that books such as "Brave New World," "1984," and "Atlas Shrugs" are required reading in some high schools, and that no one gets out of high school with any comprehension of what they've read. (Which begs the interesting question, what are they teaching kids about those books? That the looters in Atlas Shrugs were right to do what they did? No one can be that stupid, can they?)

Michelle Malkin had an interesting post over at Townhall this morning. It seem that the Occupy Whatever goons are in favor of a Robin Hood tax on corporations and bankers because, by golly, Robin Hood stole from the rich one percent and gave to the poor ninety-nine percent!! He's a hero to poor folks everywhere!!

That is a quote from Ragnar Danneskjold, one of the characters of Atlas Shrugged, the book that only 1% of people who read it understand. I do think Ayn Rand put it the best. But back to our reading-impaired friends at Occupy Whatever. From Michelle Malkin's Column:

October 29 is the eve of the G20 Leaders Summit in France, you see, and that's the date on which Adbusters wants its followers to "rise up and demand that our G20 leaders immediately impose a 1 percent ROBIN HOOD tax on all financial transactions and currency trades." The money, say longtime champions of the tax, would go to "fund crucial action against climate change."

Oh yeah, we totally need a tax to deal with the non-existent climate change.

Say what? Panicked governments forked over trillions to rescue politically connected, basket-case banks, and the solution is ... punishing individual investors, creating less efficient capital markets, and spreading the wealth around to global-warming zealots and welfare-state overlords?

Rest assured, the text of the Robin Hood tax manifesto will be chanted in ignorant zombie unison -- using the "human microphone" method of call and drone -- in dingy occupier camps from NYC to San Francisco and every blue dot in between. Showcasing their economic illiteracy, the Occupiers remain clueless about the real-world consequences of their redistributionist claptrap. And they're ridiculously oblivious to the irony of adopting anti-tax crusader "Robin Hood" as their hero.

The demon millionaires and billionaires whom the Occupiers seek to punish would not be the only ones to bear the costs. Over time, the burden of the Robin Hood tax would shift. Rogoff observed: "Higher transactions taxes increase the cost of capital, ultimately lowering investment. With a lower capital stock, output would trend downward, reducing government revenues and substantially offsetting the direct gain from the tax. The original Robin Hood tales of the Middle Ages celebrated a renegade who rose up against property rights violations and taxation abuses. His archenemies were not private traders or bankers, but the local government tax collector, the Sheriff of Nottingham and the power-grabbing ruler, Prince John. Robin Hood, in other words, was far more tea party than flea party.

And if the Occupy Whatever goons had actually understood what they read in Atlas Shrugged, they might have known that. Ayn Rand explained it pretty plainly.

And Ms. Malkin points out that since it's the modern politically correct, steal-from-the-greedy-rich-and-give-to-the-bum-poor Robin Hood that these people want,

In any case, if the Occupiers insist on celebrating outright theft from the haves in the name of the have-nots, perhaps they should stop complaining about the pickpockets and looters infesting their camps. Live by "social justice" nursery rhymes. Die by "social justice" crimes.

I couldn't agree more. And the Occupy Whatever Goons all ought to be required to retake 9th Grade Lit.

Maybe this time, when reading Atlas Shrugged and 1984, they'll actually learn something.

Does Any Life Have Value Anymore?

I've previously mentioned on my blog that I have diabetes. It's a drag, but I make the best of it.

But diabetes is a disability, so you can imagine my horror when I read on Pajamas Media tonight about a couple who were awarded $4.5 because their child was born disabled, and they were not told that he was disabled while he was in the womb. They got a huge settlement because they missed the opportunity to abort their son.

On September 9, a West Palm Beach jury awarded parents Rodolfo Santana and Ana Mejia $4.5 million because they did not get accurate information from Dr. Marie Morel and OB/GYN Specialists of the Palm Beaches. Their son Bryan Santana, now age 3, was born disabled. He has no arms and only one leg. The argument made by his parents was that if the clinic had told them their son was so disabled, they would have aborted him. And since they didn’t get a chance to terminate Bryan in the womb, and obviously they can’t legally do it now, they wanted millions of dollars.
The woman, who certainly will not win any mother-of-the year awards, told the jury during the two-week trial:
Definitely, I would have had an abortion.

I hope when little Bryan grows up he never Googles himself or his parents. I can’t imagine the horror when he reads that his parents wish they would have killed him. I wonder how quickly he will grasp that his parents think his life, since he has disabilities, isn’t worth living. I wonder if that jury considered how the disabled community would feel if they knew that a jury awarded these parents millions because they missed the opportunity to abort their disabled son.

There are some things in life that are so, so, out of left field that there are no words for. Can you imagine what will happen if poor Bryan ever asks his parents if they would have aborted him if they knew he would be disabled? Once, in a deep fit of despair, I asked my mother if she would have aborted me if she would have known that I was going to have diabetes. (It's a long story; my journey with diabetes has had some bumps in the road.) She said no, and I believe her. I know where she stands of the issue of life. I cannot imagine what will happen to poor Bryan if he ever asks his mother if she would have aborted him. And even if she does lie and say she would have kept him, one quick Internet search will debunk that.

Few people realize how much sentiment exists out there that the disabled are less than human. If you want proof one only has too look at abortion. In the UK, for example, there are limits on when you can abort a baby unless that baby has severe disabilities. The UK law does not define those disabilities but allows abortion up until the moment of birth if the child is disabled. Why? Obviously the message is that a child with disabilities has less value or reason to live. The West Palm Beach jury would agree with that atrocious idea.

The numbers should shock you. In America, 90% of non-life threatening disabled babies are aborted. If you have a disability in the womb, you have a 1 in 10 chance of being born. You have a 9 in 10 chance of your parents deciding your life isn’t worth living. In 2003, a Gallup poll revealed that almost 6 in 10 Americans think it is okay to abort if a child has a mental or physical disability. Imagine if instead of a disability, 6 in 10 said it was okay to abort because a child is black or female.

Thankfully, these numbers are so shocking that even some on the pro-choice Left see this as a problem. The Left is conflicted in being pro-rights for all types of minorities, but being pro-choice on abortion...

We need more on the Left to realize their own double standard. Ted Kennedy, who was a huge pro-choice advocate, understood the poor treatment of the disabled. In 2005, Kennedy co-sponsored the Prenatally and Postnatally Diagnosed Conditions Awareness Act. That bill expanded federal financing to teach parents of children with Down Syndrome how to help raise them. Kennedy understood that parents needed to learn that disabled children had equal value, and if parents learned those skills, then they wouldn’t feel the need to abort. The goal of the bill was to stop the atrocious rate of abortions based on a child being diagnosed with Down Syndrome. That bill was co-sponsored by big pro-lifer Sam Brownback, it was signed into law by President Bush, and it was actually backed by the pro-abortion NARAL.

Proving that even Democrats get it right sometimes. I cannot believe this. Thank you world, for proving how little value you ascribe to lives that don't fit your standards. You know, I enjoy life. No, I really do, and that includes my life with diabetes. Sometimes I don't think I'd be who I am today if I hadn't had diabetes. Don't get me wrong, I want a cure for this disease, and life has not always been easy with it, but who's life is ever easy? You disgust by your morally bankrupt insinuation that my life is worth less than yours!

Perhaps it's my diabetes talking here, but all life has value. It doesn't matter if a person have diabetes or Down Syndrome or missing limbs or any combination of the three. All life has value whether disabled or not.

Maybe only people with diabilities will ever realize that.

Well, here we are, ten years after the worst terrorist attacks of 9/11. Time sure flies. There are only two things I want to bring up today, and these two questions are asked in song.

The first is Darryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten?" everyone remebers today because today is a ten-year mark, but did you remember seven years after 9/11? Eight? What about the years that aren't anniversaries? Do you remember it in those years? The song is dated now since bin Laden is now dead, but the question still remains, have you forgotten?

The next question is one that almost no one alive when it happens will ever forget the answer too: where were you when you heard about what happened?

Dear Council of American-Islamic Relations: WHY DON'T YOU STICK A FORK IN IT?!?!?!

It's almost 9/11 again, the time of year where my patience for Muslims evaporates like water on a hot Middle Eastern day - not that I had much patience to start with.

So while I was waiting for the AP to run their regularly scheduled sob story about how this 9/11 will be a day like no other for the Muslims (like the story they ran last year, and the year before that,) I caught this story from Gateway Pundit.

It seems a St Louis coloring book publisher has put out a coloring book about 9/11. This coloring book was designed to help children understand 9/11. From the publisher's website:

To the American people and all others who may read this child's coloring book, We Shall Never Forget is designed to be a tool that parents can use to help teach children about the facts surrounding 9/11. This book also describes basic freedoms in America. We suggest parental guidance. As the 9/11 events are shown countless times on national media, this book will help children understand the meaning of these events. The book was created with honesty, integrity, reverence, respect and does not shy away from the truth.In this book you will see what happens to a terrorist who orders others to bomb our peace loving wonderful nation.

The September 11, 2001 attacks on America are now commonly referred to as 9/11. It was a series of coordinated attacks by a radical Islamic Muslim extremist terrorist group who call themselves Al Qaeda. They were self-proclaimed Jihadists; many American people refer to them as homicide bombers. their leader was a Saudi national named Osama Bin Laden. He and his men used hijacked U.S. airplanes as weapons. A total of 3,000+ innocent people from over 70 countries were killed. There were no survivors from any of the airplanes.

So the publishers tried to be respectful and honest and help children truly understand what happened on 9/11. They have succeeded. Would you like to know how I know?

Because CAIR, the Council of American Islamic Relations, is having a hissy fit. From St Louis CBS:

Taking heat from Muslim groups upset with a coloring book about the 9/11 Attacks, a publisher says he’s been in contact with local police and the FBI.

Wayne Bell, the Publisher of Really Big Coloring Books, Inc., says there’s been a negative backlash against the book “We Shall Never Forget 9/11: The Kids’ Book of Freedom.”

“These are people from Al-Jazeera that have called in here numerous times, people from Iranian TV, people from Palestinian Hamas TV,” Bell said, “A lot of people from the Islamic community have called in here and said increasingly negative things prior to the book being made and then after we made the book too, about the book itself.”

The book features images of Osama Bin Laden and Islamic terrorists. It also shows American citizens upset by the attacks, including a woman with a cross around her neck. But it shows no Muslim Americans mourning the attacks.

The Council on American Islamic Relations has criticized the book as one-sided, only portraying Muslims as either “extremists” or “terrorists. ”

Alright CAIR. Now explain why all those Muslims were dancing in the streets once they got word of what happened to us (not you, mind you. If you think I'll believe your taqqiya about being patriotic Americans, you've got another guess coming.)

Moving on:

Bell was asked to explain the absence of patriotic Muslim Americans in the book who were also opposed to the attacks.

“Well, I don’t know, I mean this is what our research showed us,” Bell said, “Every time we mention one of the hijackers we call them what they are. And that’s what parents wanted. Radical, Islamic, Muslim Extremists. And every time we mention one of the hijackers like the three guys that drove the plane into the Pentagon, there’s nothing else you can call them. I mean, what do think, they’re having a bad hair day?”

The good news is that despite the Muslim backlash, these books have been selling well. I hope they continue to sell well. CAIR, first you have to find a couple of patriotic 'Muslim Americans' (taqqiya again) and hope they aren't honor-killed before they can express their pro-American feelings. Assuming they have any. In the meantime, CAIR, do us a favor, alright? STICK A FORK IN IT!!! 9/11 is not about you and the liars and thieves you represent! It's about the damage that your cult caused to my country, and if you don't like it, don't let the door hit you on the way out!!!

Ron Paul: Lunatic

Two weeks away from the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul says that U.S. intervention in the Middle East is a main motivation behind terrorist hostilities toward America, and that Islam is not a threat to the nation.

At a campaign stop on Saturday in Winterset, one man asked Paul how terrorist groups would react if the U.S. removed its military presence in Middle Eastern nations, a move the candidate advocates.

“Which enemy are you worried that will attack our national security?” Paul asked.

“If you’re looking for specifics, I’m talking about Islam. Radical Islam,” the man answered.

“I don’t see Islam as our enemy,” Paul said. “I see that motivation is occupation and those who hate us and would like to kill us, they are motivated by our invasion of their land, the support of their dictators that they hate.”

Regarding 9/11, Paul said that attacks against the U.S. from Middle Eastern groups at home and abroad can be traced to the foreign presence of U.S. troops, as well as America’s relationships with dictator regimes.

Idiot. What middle Eastern country had we invaded during 1993, when the World Trade Center was bombed? What Middle Eastern country had we invaded before 9/11?

Why won't Ron Paul and his hoard of crackpot supporters ever go away? I think I've actually found the one Republican who scares me more at the thought of his being president than Obama getting a second term. You can't get up early enough in the morning to do that, you just have to not sleep. Ever.

Actually, I take that back. They're both equally scary, because neither will admit that Islam is a problem. Paul's stupitidty astounds me, but at least he's not a Muslim, which at this point is about the only thing running in his favor if he runs against Obama.

As to Paul's lunatic claims that somehow 9/11 is the fault of America, Let Freedom Ring had a point to make about that:

Ron Paul’s theory is that al-Qa’ida plotted 9/11 as a response to the U.S. military bases in Saudi Arabia. Those with a willingness to accept verifiable truth, though, are forced to admit that 9/11 had everything to do with a “12-point strategy to ‘establish an Islamic government on earth’, identified as The Project.”
It’s time for Ron Paul to admit he’s been badly wrong about the jihadists for a very long time. If he won’t accept these planning documents as proof that the Muslim Brotherhood is determined to create a worldwide caliphate, then Ron Paul isn’t qualified to be commander-in-chief. PERIOD.

Amen. What we need in our next President is someone who understands the threat that Islam is to our freedoms and our way of life. Not soneone who is convinced that Islam is an okay cult.

Selling Lemonade is Not a Crime!...At least, it Wasn't Back when Bush was President...

So I was out cruising the blogosphere this morning, in the Conservative Blog Ads that Gateway Pundit has in his sidebars, I found a link about the Lemonade stand shut down brouhaha. The "War on Lemonade Stands," it was called. That link led to another blog that was advertising a Lemonade Freedom Event. And that got me thinking.

Around here, it's common that one day a year kids set up stands and sell lemonade. Some of you may have heard of Lemonade Day. Around here, every spring, it's a big thing. Kids set up stands, and make lemonade, enter lemonade contests. Some kids even go beyond the lemonade and sell hot dogs and cookies.

So I was thinking and wondering, 'how long before some loony government official tries to put a stop to Lemonade Day?' and then it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Maybe some one has already said this, so I apologize if I'm plagiarizing. With Lemonade Day, kids are learning to be entrepreneurs. As I've pointed out, some kids around where I live sell more than just lemonade. I've heard it said that this teaches kids about profit margins and other SMALL BUSINESS things like that: How many hot dogs do you have to sell for what price before you've made a profit? And don't forget competition - if the customer thinks that the price for your lemonade is too high, then they can always go try another stand. (Interestingly, more often then not, I see lemonade sell for $0.50 a glass around here. I haven't figured out yet if this is due to inflation or if these kids are trying for exuberant profit margins.)

But anyway, sure, the lemonade stand shutdown is about money. The local governments want their money. (Greedy little buggers, aren't they?) But beyond that, what are lemonade stands teaching kids to do? They're teaching kids to about business; profit margin, expanding into other products, things like that.

What if that's what the government is trying to quash? Our president does not appreciate the private sector and his policy always give small businesses the short end of the stick. I don't have too difficult of a time imagining that he would love to see this Lemonade Day and all these Lemonade Stands go away.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it is just about money, and not about squashing small businesses. Maybe these are too many assumptions, and it's just greed that motivated the war on lemonade.

But what if I'm right?

Liberals Want to Control the Internet by Hook or by Crook

Hook didn't work, so now they're trying crook. Here's the latest assault on the Internet, via Infowars:

Techdirt reports that Senate bill 978 – a bill to amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright, and for other purposes – may be used to prosecute people for embedding YouTube videos.

According to Mark Masnick, if a website embeds a YouTube video that is determined to have infringed on copyright and more than 10 people view it on that website, the owner or others associated with the website could face up to five years in prison.

As readers of Infowars.com know, many videos are removed from YouTube after copyright owners complain about infringement. This happens with thousands of news clips every year. Most people are familiar with the now common black box replacing a video that says the video has been removed for copyright reasons.

If enacted, this law will go one step further and turn people who embed a copyrighted video into criminals. It will also set the stage to criminalize linking to copyrighted information — like corporate media news sources — and shut down the alternative media.

It will also make people think twice about putting up all kinds of videos, from news reports to clips from documentaries and other educational material.

It does not take a vivid imagination to realize the political implications of this legislation.

No it doesn't. Just imagine how hard it will be for bloggers to report news if we can't embed video clips. Not to mention people like me who embed favored songs onto our blogs so others can enjoy them.

What gives, Mr. President? tired of the conservatives passing clips of your speeches around the internet to show you for what you are?

Memorial Day: Freedom Never Cries

Today we remember all those who have fought and died for for America. To all those who have served, thank you. You are not forgotten.

Our country today is in a life-and-death struggle against an evil enemy, but America as a whole is certainly not at war. Not as a country. Not as a people. Today, only a tiny fraction of American families – less than 1 percent – shoulder the burden of fear and sacrifice, and they shoulder it for the entire nation. Their sons and daughters who serve are men and women of character who continue to believe in this country enough to put life and limb on the line without qualification, and without thought of personal gain, so the sons and daughters of the other 99 percent don’t have to. No big deal, though. Marines have always been first to fight, paying in full the bill that comes with being free for everyone else.

The comforting news for every American is that our men and women in uniform are as good today as any in our history. As good as their heroic, underappreciated and largely abandoned fathers and uncles were in Vietnam, and their grandfathers were in Korea and World War II, they have the same steel in their backs and have made their own mark, etching forever places like Ramadi, Fallujah and Baghdad in Iraq, and Helmand and Sangin, Afghanistan, that are now part of U.S. military legend and stand just as proudly alongside Iwo Jima, Normandy, Inchon, Hue City, Khe Sanh and A Shau Valley, Vietnam.

While some might think we have produced yet another generation of materialistic and self-absorbed young people, those who serve today have broken the mold and stepped out as real men, and real women, who are already making their own way in life while protecting ours. They have learned, at the same time they have served and fought for us, that the real strength of a platoon, a battalion or a country is not based on worshipping at the altar of diversity or separateness...

As anyone who has ever experienced combat knows, when it starts, when the explosions and tracers are everywhere, and the calls for the corpsman or medic are screamed from the throats of men who know they are dying – when seconds seem like hours and it all becomes slow motion and fast forward at the same time, and the only rational act is to stop, get down, save yourself – they don’t. When no one would call them a coward for cowering behind a wall or in a hole, slave to the most basic of all human instincts – survival – none of them do. It doesn’t matter if it’s an IED, a suicide bomber, mortar attack, sniper, fighting in the upstairs room of a house, or all of it at once – they talk, swagger and, most importantly, fight today in the same way America’s Marines have since Tun Tavern. They also know whose shoulders they stand on, and they will never shame any veteran of any service, living or dead.

We can also take comfort in the fact that these young Americans are not born killers but are good and decent young men and women who, for going on 10 years, have performed remarkable acts of bravery and selflessness to a cause they have decided is bigger and more important than themselves. Only a few months ago, they were delivering your paper, stocking shelves in the local grocery store, serving Mass on Sunday, or playing hockey on local ice.

Just yesterday, two were lost, and a knock on the door late last night brought their families to their knees in a grief that will never go away. Thousands more have suffered terrible wounds since it all started, but like anyone who loses life or limb while serving others – including our firefighters and law-enforcement personnel, who on 9/11 were the first casualties of this war – they are not victims; they knew what they were about, and were doing what they wanted to do.

Indeed, they were in exactly the place they wanted to be: among the best men and women America produces. The chattering class and all those who doubt America’s intentions and resolve, endeavor to make them and their families out to be victims, but they are wrong. We who have served, and are serving, refuse their sympathy.

I have a story I wish to relate about the kind of people they are, about the steel in their backs, and the kind of dedication they bring to our country.

When I was the commander of all U.S. and Iraqi forces, on April 22, 2008, two Marine infantry battalions, 1/9 “The Walking Dead,” and 2/8, were switching out in Ramadi. One battalion was in the closing days of its deployment, the other just starting its seven-month combat tour.

Two Marines, Cpl. Jonathan Yale and Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter, 22 and 20 respectively, one from each battalion, were assuming the watch at the entrance gate of an outpost that contained a makeshift barracks housing 50 Marines. The same ramshackle building was also home to 100 Iraqi police, our allies in the fight against terrorists in Ramadi – known at the time as the most dangerous city on earth, and owned by al-Qaeda. ...

The mission orders they received from their sergeant squad leader, I’m sure, went something like this: “OK, take charge of this post and let no unauthorized personnel or vehicles pass. You clear?” I’m also sure Yale and Haerter rolled their eyes and said, in unison, something like, “Yes, sergeant,” with just enough attitude that made the point, without saying the words, “No kidding, sweetheart. We know what we’re doing.” They then relieved two other Marines on watch and took up their post at the entry-control point of Joint Security Station Nasser, in the Sophia section of Ramadi, al Anbar, Iraq.

A few minutes later, a large blue truck turned down the alleyway – perhaps 60 to 70 yards in length – and sped its way through the serpentine concrete Jersey walls. The truck stopped just short of where the two were posted and detonated, killing them both. Twenty-four brick masonry houses were damaged or destroyed. A mosque 100 yards away collapsed. The truck’s engine came to rest 200 yards away, knocking down most of a house down before it stopped. Our explosive experts reckoned the blast was caused by 2,000 pounds of explosive. Because these two young infantrymen didn’t have it in their DNA to run from danger, they saved 150 of their Iraqi and American brothers in arms...

I traveled to Ramadi the next day and spoke individually to a half-dozen Iraqi police, all of whom told the same story. They all said, “We knew immediately what was going on as soon as the two Marines began firing.”

The Iraqi police related that some of them also fired, and then, to a man, ran for safety just prior to the explosion. All survived. Many were injured, some seriously. One of the Iraqis elaborated, and with tears welling up, said, “They’d run like any normal man would to save his life.”

What he didn’t know until then, and what he learned that very instant, was that Marines are not normal. Choking past the emotion, he said, “Sir, in the name of God, no sane man would have stood there and done what they did. They saved us all.”

Obama hates Israel (Updated)

Yes, I know I missed feel-good Friday, and I apologize. Hopefully I'll swing back into the routine with that later this week. Actually if I was smart I would go ahead, prepare the post, and then schedule it to go up Friday morning, but I'm in the hot and heavy in the middle of a story I'm writing, and honestly I don't even want to be here right now. I'd rather be working on that story. But it's been a crazy week last week, But I do want to talk about this, just a little.

This last week Obama went out and atacked Israel. Obama said so many stupid things about Israel, I can't figure out which one to post first, or how many links to post. I mean, Obummer was so whacked out even the New York Times had to admit the truth: Obama supports Palestine.

In case you missed it, Obama the Muslim went out and and said that Israel has to return to the 1967 border, or as it was promptly dubbed, the Aushwitz border. Here's the link to President Obama bin Muslim's speech, if you want to read it. Apparently, President Obama bin Muslim's plan is to chop the state of Israel right in half so he can connect Gaza - a miserable strip of land that Israel needs to take back with extreme force - with the West Bank. I have several choice words for the president - none of which I can actually say in public. Those words aside, is Obama bin Muslim insane? Oh, never mind. I forgot that Obama is a Muslim. And the Muslims have been after the Jews ever since the Jews told Muhammad, who was passing himself off as the one true prophet, to go pound sand. I don't have time to deal with all of this hear, but I recommend you read Robert Spencer's book The Truth About Muhammad sometime.

Anyway back to the point. Obama bin Muslim, ever the master of poor taste, apparently made his anti-Israel speech the day before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was supposed to visit. So, as you may imagine, Netanyahu schooled Odummer.

So that's the brief version. The long one would probably take days to figure out, much less tell. The shockwaves from Obama bin Muslim's ridiculous statements are still reverberating.

Update: Don't feel sorry for the Palestinians. They don't deserve your sympathy.

Newt Gingrich Attempts to Extract Foot from Mouth

So Repuclican-nominee wannabe Gingrich went out the other day and attacked the fiscally sane Paul Ryan for wanting to reform Medicare. I guess no one told Newt that there are some Ponzi schemes in the US goverment that we need to get rid of, and that Medicare is one of them.

The Republicans were not amused. Paul Ryan went out and said that with allies like Newt, who needs the Democrats? Ryan has a point. Why is Newt doing the Democrats' jobs for them?

A voter out in Iowa called Newt out on his atrocious behavior. No word yet on if that voter is planning to run for president, but I'm waiting hopefully.

Just before noon on March 17, Gingrich went out and said that he would not allow the Democrats to lie about him. Umm, Newt? They don't have to lie. Thanks to you, they can tell the truth. You gave them a great ad for thier compaign. Now our side will have to run for cover every time you come onto the scene.

So finally, after it became glaringly apparent that the voters are not amused, Newt went out and backpedaled. Via Fox Nation:

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich apologized in a telephone call to House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Tuesday afternoon for his remarks on "Meet the Press," where the presidential candidate referred to Ryan's Medicare proposal as "radical change."

"Newt apologized," said Rick Tyler, his press secretary and longtime aide. "The call went very well."

Gingrich, his nascent campaign in jeopardy, has shifted into fervent damage control following a furious conservative reaction to his comments - and is even expressing a rare bit of contrition.

From Iowa, Gingrich held two conference calls with tea party leaders scattered throughout the nation - one on short notice Monday night, and another Tuesday morning.

Alright, you came, you broke things, you tried to repair them, now do us a favor: get your sorry arse outta the race. This Tea Partiers is not happy with you. I want someone with the will to dismantle the government, and you don't qualify. So do us a favor: go away. We don't need anymore RINOs and you backpedal worse then a Democrat.

Just go away, Newt.

A Tale of Two Governors

First, Indiana governor Mitch Daniels:

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) will greet President Obama on the airport tarmac when he arrives in Indianapolis for an event Friday at a transmission plant.

It's Daniels's latest gesture of civility toward the president, something rare among those in his party considered to be potential White House challengers. The two-term governor of Indiana has told his fellow Republicans to "stop whining" about the Obama administration. Asked recently whether he thought questions about Obama's natural-born American citizenship were relevant, Daniels didn't hesitate. "I don't," he said.

"The American people that elected President Obama had a chance to weigh it at the time," the governor added. "I have my differences with the president, but they have nothing to do with things like that."

And then Texas governor Rick Perry:

Rick Perry has declined the White House’s request that he greet President Obama when Air Force One lands in Texas on Tuesday, the Republican governor’s office says.

“We did try to arrange something with the White House,” Lucy Nashed, a spokeswoman for Perry, told POLITICO. “They asked us if we wanted to meet him out on the tarmac in El Paso, but we weren’t able to work anything out, based on the fact that it’s probably going to be a 10-minute greeting.”

Perry, who met Obama at the airport when the president traveled to Austin in August, accused the administration two weeks ago of denying aid to his state to help recover from wildfires.
Other Republican governors, like Rick Scott and Mitch Daniels, recently greeted Obama when he visited their states.

Yes, I know. Believe me, I know.

Bonus points for my readers if they can guess which of these two governors I prefer.

I actually had a spat with a family member over this. Daniels may have done the polite thing, but I'd like to kick him in the butt for it. He seems to not understand that those of us who weighed Obama's BC issue got shot down in flames by the media for doing so. Where was Daniels when that was going on? Off twiddling his thumbs? Why didn't he say something? Too afraid of getting shot down? I'm not exactly a big fans of wusses, you know.

I remember that Perry met with Obama back during the TX governor race. That was an interesting turnaround, because Perry went to confront Obama while the Democrat contender ran for the hills. I'm all for Republicans meeting Obummer if they're going to confront him about things, but I don't want to see anymore meet-and-greet sessions! Hey Daniels, did you at least ask Obama why he won't allow oil drilling here in America so that we Hoosiers will eventually be able to pay less then $4 a gallon for gas? No? Didn't think so!

I don't know what to make of Daniels. He's willing to sign Conservative bills, and then goes and greets Obama! Whose side are you on Daniels, ours or his? Do tell! I'd love to know!

Osama bin Laden is Dead.

I don't really feel like talking about this. It happened on Monday but I didn't have time for blogging that day. However, I do have readers and they deserve a post.

Don't get me wrong, if the man is dead, then it's about time justice was served. However, I'm waiting for the media to get over it so I can go to the blogs without having to look at a picture of bin Laden's ugly mug. I'm getting tired of looking at his gross face. Ugh. How can you all keep posting those pictures?

Nevertheless, Monday was a good day. The man responsible for 3,000 deaths has finally gotten his due. As a general rule, news of someone's death does not make me happy, but this was long overdue. And now I have to rain on parades, because it's not like the War on Terror will come to an end just because bin Laden is dead. We still have work to finish in the Middle East.

And I have lots of bad news for the liberals. You remember how the little dears were in a tizzy over Gitmo and waterboarding? Well, we got the name of Obama's courier from a terrorist we waterboarded. Yes, really.

However, wussy little Obama still took forever to make up his mind - 16 hours, in fact. Wow. And I thought I was bad at decision-making. Nice to know that if some calamity would strike, Obama would make up his mind about what to do - in 16 hours! I mean, I'm all for weighing the odds before taking action, but when you're president there are some decisions that have to be made promptly. Ace of Spades added:

How does the media report this? Well, relying upon those in Obama's inner circle (that is to say, his political flunkies and spinners), we're told this:
"But the next morning after 16 hours, Obama summoned four top aides to the White House Diplomatic Room. Before they could speak, the president put his fist on the table and declared 'It's a go'."
Why does it matter that he did this "before they could speak"? They had spoken already yesterday when they strongly, strongly urged the president to give the order, and he had decided to sleep on it.

They were only waiting on him, after all.

So, after 16 hours of vacillation, during which the operation might have been rendered a failure by intervening invents, he fist-bumps a piece of furniture and finally makes up his mind.

This is something to brag about? This is, in Howard Fineman's words, "almost Biblical"?

Seems like a very cautious, feckless, indecisive individual delaying and delaying on critical decisions and then attempting to sound heroic when he finally does what he's being paid to do.

Sounds about right.

Now Obama won't release the photos of bin Laden post mortem, out of fear that releasing the photos will rile up the Muslims. Okay Obama, here's the deal. We have already riled them. They started this war, remember? They were angry that we existed, and so we got attacked by third-century savages. Release the fricking photos. All of us deserve that.

Besides, it's not like the terrorists ever give a crap about releasing the photos of the soldiers they kill. So come on, Obama, what's the holdup?

So a terrorist mastermind died. And somehow, that manages to bring up more question than answers.

Feel-Good Friday Kickoff: Reach

I don't know about you, but I haven't seen cheerful news in awhile. And that got me thinking: I need to do something cheerful right before the weekend, just as a way to help everyone relax and enjoy the weekend. Thus, this past Monday, Feel-Good Friday was concieved.

The idea is to have some uplifting song or interesting video or happy news story down here, so we can all dump off the stress of the week and have a good weekend. I would to make this a regular feature, but we'll have to see what I can find. Right now I have enough material to run this feature on my blog for about eight weeks. The Koran Burning Drama Goes On and On!

No, it really does.

I have some...interesting news today. All of this news was discovered over Easter weekend but not posted because, hey it was Easter and I had better things to blog about. But Easter is over so let's get to this.

In the bruhaha over Terry Jones burning a Koran, you may not remember that a New Jersey transit worker burned a Koran last year, and then got fired for it. Yes, he was fired for committing an act of free speech. Well, guess who helped him get his job back? The ACLU. Yes, that ACLU.

Whoever said politics makes strange bedfellows sure said a mouthful. Witness the case of a New Jersey Transit worker who was fired last year for setting fire to pages of a Koran outside the proposed mosque site near Ground Zero.

Not only will the man, Derek Fenton, be getting his job back. He will be reimbursed for every day of pay he lost since his firing and will also receive $25,000 for pain and suffering.

But here is where the story gets interesting. The terms the settlement, which are detailed above, were negotiated out-of-court on Fenton’s behalf by attorneys for—wait for it—the American Civil Liberties Union. Equally jaw-dropping is the name of the individual who originally condemned Fenton’s actions and supported his dismissal—Republican Gov. Chris Christie.

I am actually not surprised to hear about Christie being a dhimmi. I've known about his dhimmi tendencies for a while now.

In a statement, Fenton said:

The Attorney General’s Office and a spokesman for the governor declined comment, which is understandable. The ACLU coming down on the side of a protester against the downtown mosque project probably left them speechless.

They weren't the only ones left speechless when they heard about it.

What makes this story ten time weirder is the fact that CAIR, the terrorist-supporting Council on American-Islamic Relations, came out and endorsed Fenton being re-hired. You can read about that over on HotAir.

In other news, Terry Jones - yes, Mr Koran Burner himself - was put in jail in Dearborn MI. Not because he'd done anything, but because the judge thought he might do something.

My "Sharia Advancing" and "Constitution is being violated" senses are tingling.

Jones was going to protest outside a mosque, and the Sharia-compliant judge decided that that certainly wouldn't do, so he preemptively put Jones in jail and forbade him to go near the mosque for three years. Despite this, Jones, who apparently understands that whole 'freedom of speech' thing better than the judge, is going to protest anyway.

All I have to say about that is, well, be careful, and good for him. Judges don't make the law and they are certainly NOT above the Constitution. The judge can take his sharia and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Controversial Florida pastor Terry Jones said he will follow through on his plan to protest outside an Islamic center in Michigan next week despite a judge's order to stay away from the mosque for three years, according to a report from the Detroit Free Press.

Jones had planned to protest against jihad and Shariah law outside the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn on Friday, the largest mosque in the metro-Detroit region that is home to one of the largest populations of Arab-Americans.

However, Judge Mark Somers ordered Jones and pastor Wayne Sapp to jail after a jury determined they would likely breach the peace. Somers set a $1 cash bond for Jones and Sapp and ordered them not go to the mosque or adjacent property for three years.

"The arrests, the whole proceedings, were a definite violation of our Constitutional rights," Jones said. "As a matter of fact, we were arrested and had not even committed a crime. It is a complete violation of our First Amendment right of freedom of speech. It was clearly influenced by the mosque."

The mosque, huh? I believe it. Let's see the Index on Islam. Hmm... I think what we might have here is a case of Muslim supremacy. Muslims think they are better than us, and demand to be treated better than you and I. Apparently this includes not having to be inconvenienced by someone else's freedom of thought.

You know, I don't like to come out on the side of people like Jones, but if he keeps standing up for my right to commit acts of free speech against Muslims then I'll have to.

One last thing before I close. for his next act, Jones is contemplating putting Muhammed on trial:

Florida pastor Terry Jones should quit while he’s ahead. Or maybe that should read “while he has a head.”

Jones, who made headlines in March for burning a copy of the Koran and more recently for his putative role in inciting protests of his actions in Afghanistan, is now contemplating Act 2 of his real-life morality play. One possibility under consideration is placing the Islamic high prophet Muhammad on trial, presumably for "crimes against humanity," Jones’s rationale for burning the Koran.

“It is definitely a consideration,” Jones told the English newspaper The Telegraph on Saturday.

Well, it's time to clean out the favorites again! First, let's do this video about the Patriot Guard Riders.

This video was amazing. We all know that the Westboro Hive of Liberal Scum is, well, liberal scum. The Patriot Guard Riders make dealing with those losers a little easier though.

I am not an overly sentimental person, but at 5:52 when they show the Guards riding in, looking for all the world like heroes about to go on a great rescue mission, I had tears in my eyes.

One of the things that has always bothered me about the Westboro scum is that they don't seem to comprehend that it's because soldiers are dying to preserve freedom that these people have to the right to be the lowest scum on the earth.

This final video goes back to the Koran burning incident. I feel that this needs to be reposted because of the very, very good points this guy makes.

Several things jump out at me from this video.

1)Obama is either insane or a Muslim. Or both.
2)I used to think the Petraeus was good general, now, eh not so much.
3) Can we air-drop the Clintons into Afghanistan? And then forget to ever go back and get them?

But all joking aside, it is insane that Bible are burned by the government yet the government MUST MUST MUST go run out and condemn Terry Jones. And then the directives on how Korans must be handled at Gitmo. What kinda BS is this?!

Also, am I the only one who noticed that no Christians were out rioting in the streets after those Bibles were burned? Gee, it's like Christianity is ...peaceful. Truly peaceful, unlike the religion of outrage/violence/hatred/anger, Islam.

Some people, today is a big day because today is Earth Day. For Christians, today is an important day because our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, died on the cross to save us from our sins.

As Petra says it, "The provision has been made, the foundation has been laid. He [Jesus] paid the ransom due and tore the temple veil in two, and opened up the way [to heaven] for me and you."

This was brought to my attention just this morning, and I feel the need to comment on it.

Yesterday, some idiot blogger on the blog Wonkette decided to attack Sarah Palin's son Trig on his birthday. Apparently, an idiot - who was probably dropped on his head as a child - named Jack Stuef thinks it's funny to pick on a disabled child. Here's one of his tamer remarks, courtesy of Gateway Pundit, since I REFUSE to link to Wonkette:

That strange man yelling unintelligibly at Sarah Palin? He’s merely a lowly shepherd proclaiming the birth of our savior. Today is the day we come together to celebrate the snowbilly grifter’s magical journey from Texas to Alaska to deliver to the America the great gentleman scholar Trig Palin. Is Palin his true mother? Or was Bristol? (And why is it that nobody questions who the father is? Because, either way, Todd definitely did it.) It doesn’t matter. What matters is that we are privileged to live in a time when we can witness the greatest prop in world political history.

What in the crap is this? Seriously? Sarah and Todd Palin are the parents of Trig, who was unfortunately born with Down Syndrome, but was born into a kind, loving, family.

Personally, I like Mediaite's response to that quote:

Hey, that’s really funny, calling Trig a gentleman scholar because he has Down Syndrome. And the speculation that Todd Palin may have raped his daughter? Pure comedy gold. Personally, I cannot believe that these idjits and the rest of the libtard gang are still going on about this. Honestly. And they call us Obama Birthers nuts. At least we have a valid reason for what we do. These people are so afraid of Sarah Palin they have to stoop to attacking her disabled child.

Now, I'm sure Whorekette writers and editors are not aware of this, but as far as I, and presumably most other people, are concerned, you don't look very brave picking on a child because you're afraid of his mother. In fact, if this was happening in a school, this would be called bullying. Heck, forget the school part - it is bullying.

Hey losers! Didn't Obama have something to say about bullying? Or did he make an exception for disabled children of people who scare both him and you?

In response to these despicable actions, people went and complained to the advertisers, three of whom have agreed to drop support of Whorekette. Well, good for them. From Life News:

Three large companies have dropped their advertisements on the liberal, pro-abortion Wonkette blog after it ran a post earlier today bashing pro-life former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin

Conservative political activists are up in arms because the post, which Wonkette has defended, calls Palin’s son trig, who has Down syndrome, “retarded,” “somewhat alive,” and includes crass claims that Palin conceived her son as a victim of incest.

At the site, you can see screenshots ot the Twitter messages that Papa John's, Huggies, and Vanguard posted, saying that they were withdrawing support.

Wonkette responded with tweets of its own claiming Papa Johns was engaging in “homophobia.”

“Boycott Papa Johns, spread the word,” the web site tweeted. “Homophobic Papa Johns. Why does every … pizza chain support wingnut extremists?”

This here is more proof that liberal should be kept in grade school forever, since they don't seem to understand the basic concept that WORDS HAVE MEANING. How is punishing bullies homophobic? Come on, Whorekette! I'm on pins and needles waiting for you to explain this one!

Meanwhile, Wonkette Chief Editor Ken Layne defended the post in response to a query from the web site Mediaite as one attacking Palin’s supposed use of her mentally disabled son at political events. He also tweeted: “We beat up on Sarah Palin’s craven use of her son as a political prop. Child protective services should take Trig away.”

Okay, I cannot recall one incident during her run as VP where Mrs. Palin EVER used her child as a political prop. Barack Obama and his media stooges, on the other hand, had no problem at all with using a disabled child to distract from Obama's statements about spreading the wealth around, Obama's missing school records, doctor records, and birth certificate.

So what we have here, Wonkette, is a case where you thought you could attack a disabled child, and then you started acting like a child when it came out that, oh yeah, most average Americans just can't endorse stuff like that.
You went out to hurt the Palin family by attacking their son on his birthday, and blew up in your face. Now you're forced to use the phrase "homophobic" to describe people who decided that you are not worth their time or money. When did we get homosexuals involved in this?

It's all fun and games, picking on other people's kids, until other people start picking on you.

My Dream 2012 Administration

I have a dream.

And in my dream, everything since January 20, 2009, never happened. It was all a hallucination. I don't know what I overdosed on, but when I wake up, everything will be better.

Well, okay, Obama being president is a nightmare I can't wake up from, but I still like to dream.

And because soon gas will $4 a gallon and I'll REALLY lose my mind, I began thinking about 2012. If the fact that Obama is running again isn't enough to scare you to death, then you should at least feel really bad that the only thing we'll get from the Republican party is undoubtedly a useless RINO. Then Trump will run and split the vote, and we'll all be screwed. (Thank heaven for term limits, at least.)

No, the Republican Party should probably be abolished. We'll have to replace them with a group of people that actually have spines and won't pander to the Democrats. But it's not to late for them to save themselves. I have some suggestions for a great Republican (not RINO) administration.

First off, the president and VP.

Herman Cain - President
Sarah Palin - Vice President.

See, Republicans? I'm willing to compromise here. You destroy Obamacare, restore our country, and stop giving us useless RINOS, and I'll only have Palin be the VP.

At least until 2016.

Now, onto the other members. First, pass a law preventing any more Czars or similar entities, ever. Then fire Eric Holder. Then give the following positions to the following people:

Secretary of Defense - Colonel Allen West (Who better to defend the country than someone who's done it before?)
Secretary of the Treasury - Donald Trump (Because people with business experience tend to do a bit better then tax cheats.)
Secretary of State - Michele Bachman (No more ridiculous reset buttons - or pandering to the enemy.)
Head of Departement of Homeland Security - Abolish this office and give these powers to the Sec of Defense.

Abolish the Secretaries and Departments of Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban development, transportation, energy, and education. the rest of the positions can be filled how Cain and Palin see fit.

An administration like this could be a dream come true.

Certainly it would be better than the nightmare we have now.

Just For Fun - Transforming Owl

Well, I saw this video a while ago, and I thought, just to put up something new, and for something fun, I'll post this video.
This is an owl from the Republic of South Africa that 'transforms' to help defend itself from predators. The video is in Japanese, but you don't need to speak the language to understand what's going on. Depending on how big the predator approaching him is, the owl will make himself bigger to try and scare the predator away, or smaller to try and blend in with his surrounding. (If he was sitting on a tree.) One word you might hear in the video is the word 'henshin,' which Japanese for transforming or changing the body.

When Fate Can't Wait to Kick You in the Butt

Oh, did I mention that the operation was cancelled at her own hospital? From the Daily Mail:

A former NHS director died after waiting for nine months for an operation - at her own hospital.

Margaret Hutchon, a former mayor, had been waiting since last June for a follow-up stomach operation at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.

But her appointments to go under the knife were cancelled four times and she barely regained consciousness after finally having surgery.

Her devastated husband, Jim, is now demanding answers from Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust - the organisation where his wife had served as a non-executive member of the board of directors.

He said: 'I don't really know why she died. I did not get a reason from the hospital. We all want to know for closure. She got weaker and weaker as she waited and operations were put off.'

Sadly, I can't feel very bad for her husband. All I can think about are the people who died after this woman cancelled their operations or decided that their medicine was too expensive and that they weren't worth it.

And yet, despite things like this, Democrats insist that socialized medicine will drive down costs and make healthcare more affordable for everyone. Yeah right.

So, do the British recognize the irony in this story? More importantly, does the ~~Ministry of Truth~~ American Media recognize the irony of this?

Oh wait, they didn't report it. Nevermind.

The Answer is a Resounding, "NO!"

The question is, "Should Florida Pastor Terry Jones be held responsible for deaths in Afghanistan?" Now, I know the current crop of idiots sitting in Congress thinks that the answer is yes, but Jones did not go and chop any heads off. It was -wait for it- the MUSLIMS. Yes, the Religion of Perpetual Outrage, back at it again. Or did they just not ever stop? This will come as a surprise to a lot of people - including Lindsey Graham - but we have a little thing in this country called "freedom of speech." It's not just for reporters, it's for everyone. Including slightly wacky pastors who decide to poke nests of bloodthirsty marauding vipers in the eye with a stick. You can do that in America. You can't do it in, say, Iran.

But with all these religions and different groups going around causing violence, maybe there is a point to be made here. I mean, if these different groups go around offing each other all the time, we'll have World War III before you know it. After all, who can forget -

- How the Christians called for the death of the artist who made the "piss Christ" exhibit? Oh wait! They didn't!

- How angry Buddhists went out and protested after the statues of Buddha were destroyed? Well, the statues were destroyed, but the Buddhists weren't rioting.

- How angry rednecks rioted in the streets after an American flag was burned! If you don't remember hearing about this, that's because it never happened.

-How Hindus and Sikhs murdered Muslim men for grooming their daughters for sex! I would have given them an excuse note for that one, but they didn't. Indeed, the article says that the two communities should commended for the restraint they showed.

- How the Jews firebombed the Muslims for their building a mosque on the remains of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem! If this didn't make the news where you live, that's because it didn't happen!!

No, invariably, there's only ever one group of 'people' that get angry over every little thing, and that's the Muslims. And these people are angry over everything. I am not kidding. Which religion in the works itself into a frenzy over an imagined vision of their god's name on an ice cream wrapper? That would be Islam. Which group of people in the world get into a snit because of a collection of privately owned porcelain pigs? Yep, Islam again. What religion demands that interfaith rooms be declared Muslim-only? Oh come on, guess!

Here is a list of things that Muslims find offensive. I don't call Islam the Religion of Perpetual Outrage for nothing. These people are ALWAYS angry. Which is fine by me - if you want to be miserable your whole life, then by all means don't let me stop you, but don't you DARE try and tell me what I can and can't do. In America, if you want to burn a Koran, that is your free right to do so.

The only thing Terry Jones is responsible for is the fact that he burned a Koran. Nothing more. He was not responsible for the fact that ten people died in Afghanistan. The blame for that rests solely on a religion that hates everyone and everything.

Column Drop

Alright, I've got some columns that have been sitting up in my favorites bar for way to long now, so I'm going to give the link and sampling of each. What Would a Desperate Wimp Do?

At about this stage in the Carter years, I began to worry: the president was getting a reputation for being a wimp, the economy was going to hell, and his poll numbers were headed steadily south. The main enemy — the Soviet Union — was flexing its muscles, invading Afghanistan in December of 1979. This came amidst the Iranian hostage crisis, which began early the previous month.

We tend to forget that the U.S. military buildup, which ultimately played a big role in the successful outcome of the Cold War, was started by Carter in response to the Soviet move, but by the time it started, “the wimp” could not hope to recover his lost manhood by sending money to the Pentagon.

And so I asked myself, is there a point at which a president realizes that wimps don’t get reelected? And if so, what might he do to shatter that image? For the next two years I worried that Carter might overreact to some international crisis in order to make folks see that he was really a tough guy.

I thought this was interesting. See what you think. Next: Choosing Your Hill to Die On

For some folks, their one gear can best be described as CHAAAAAARGE!! In politics, every single thing that any Republican does that displeases them in the least is grounds to threaten to NEVER DONATE TO OR VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN AGAIN. Threatening total abandonment of politics (or voting third party, or for Democrats), is the only negotiating tactic these people know. Similarly, everything Obama and/or the Democrats do is the most shocking attack on capitalism and the Constitution that has ever been seen in the history of ever.

Another group of folks knows only the gear that we will call “Congress.” Another word for this gear is “retreat.” For these folks, there is always an excuse for capitulation, always a reason to bend to pragmatism, always a reason to not rock the boat. No matter what horrible thing the Republicans do, we dare not abandon them and be left to the Democrats. To these folks, we dare not risk provoking either a governmental shutdown or the teachers’ unions, no matter the stakes, for fear of bad polling.

Of course, the person who bluffs every hand is just as bad at poker as the person who folds every hand. At the risk of being labeled an enabler of Democrats, achieving success in politics takes a more nuanced approach. Sometimes you have to swallow a bitter pill of compromise and sometimes you have to pick up your torch and pitchfork and let people know you mean business, and knowing which situation calls for which is everything as both a politican and an activist.

This one I really enjoyed, and I had to admit that author has a point. The thing that bothers me is that it always seems to be the Republicans who are forced to bow the knee. The Democrats never have to. (Incidentally, I'd like to recommend that all Republicans be forced to read Ann Coulter's book 'Guilty.' They might learn a thing or two about the Dems.)

And the last one: How to Think About the Tea Party

On February 19, 2009, when the finance commentator Rick Santelli indulged in a rant against the newly unveiled “stimulus” bill on the CNBC cable network and called for a demonstration in Chicago modeled on the Boston Tea Party, he fired a shot heard round the country. Santelli’s diatribe was focused on the fact that Americans who had played by the rules, had saved much of what they had earned, and had paid their bills on time were being required to bail out fellow citizens who had gotten caught short in purchasing a domicile they could not afford or while speculating in real estate. In the weeks that followed, ordinary citizens spontaneously gathered in towns and cities across the continent to organize Tea Parties in protest against what they took to be an unjust redistribution of wealth from the industrious and the rational to the greedy and improvident.

The Back and Forth of Japan's 'Nuclear Meltdown'

I have waited a long time to write about events in Japan. The people there have my condolences, but as for information to pass along on this blog, there wasn't much to report.

So instead, I decided to wait and see what would happen with Japan's nuclear facilities, inasmuch as what happens over there will most certainly effect what happens over here.

The news about what is happening over there is being filtered through the American media, a group well known to most sane Americans as a group with nothing better to do but scaremonger. I can't believe anything those people tell me, and so I have been ignoring them in favor of the blogs. Gateway Pundits, as always, has been reporting on what's going on over there, and his commenters (the 'Punditeers') are very helpful with their knowledge.

This site here I found a little difficult to understand; maybe someone else will have better luck than I.

And then we have William Tucker of the Wall street Journal saying that Japan does not face Another Chernobyl. Heck, that's what I've been screaming at the TV every time they mention a nuclear crises in Japan.

So honestly, as far as radiation goes, I haven't been to worried about that. What I have been worried about is the fact that people need food and shelter and POTUS is doing nothing - except golfing.

Then, last night, I found this from the British Newspaper Daily Mail: The moment nuclear plant chief WEPT as Japanese finally admit that radiation leak is serious enough to kill people

The article goes on:

The boss of the company behind the devastated Japanese nuclear reactor today broke down in tears - as his country finally acknowledged the radiation spewing from the over-heating reactors and fuel rods was enough to kill some citizens

Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency admitted that the disaster was a level 5, which is classified as a crisis causing 'several radiation deaths' by the UN International Atomic Energy. Officials said the rating was raised after they realised the full extent of the radiation leaking from the plant. They also said that 3 per cent of the fuel in three of the reactors at the Fukushima plant had been severely damaged, suggesting those reactor cores have partially melted down. After Tokyo Electric Power Company Managing Director Akio Komiri cried as he left a conference to brief journalists on the situation at Fukushima, a senior Japanese minister also admitted that the country was overwhelmed by the scale of the tsunami and nuclear crisis. He said officials should have admitted earlier how serious the radiation leaks were.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said: 'The unprecedented scale of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan, frankly speaking, were among many things that happened that had not been anticipated under our disaster management contingency plans. 'In hindsight, we could have moved a little quicker in assessing the situation and coordinating all that information and provided it faster.'

Nuclear experts have been saying for days that Japan was underplaying the crisis' severity. It is now officially on a par with the Three Mile Island accident in Pennsylvania in 1979. Only the explosion at Chernobyl in 1986 has topped the scale.

The way this is portrayed, you would think that there was nothing that could happen except FOR another Chernobyl, and I don't understand that, particularly because they compare affairs in Japan to Three Mile Island - and to the best of my understanding, nothing happened at Three Mile Island, other than a nuclear plant got shut down.

But this is by no means conclusive evidence that everyone is going to get cancer now. Form this week's Ann Coulter column, which I cannot link too:

With the terrible earthquake and resulting tsunami that have devastated Japan, the only good news is that anyone exposed to excess radiation from the nuclear power plants is now probably much less likely to get cancer.

This only seems counterintuitive because of media hysteria for the past 20 years trying to convince Americans that radiation at any dose is bad. There is, however,
burgeoning evidence that excess radiation operates as a sort of cancer vaccine.

As The New York Times science section reported in 2001, an increasing number of scientists believe that at some level -- much higher than the minimums set by the U.S. government -- radiation is good for you. "They theorize," the Times said, that "these doses protect against cancer by activating cells' natural defense mechanisms."

Among the studies mentioned by the Times was one in Canada finding that tuberculosis patients subjected to multiple chest X-rays had much lower rates of breast cancer than the general population.

And there are lots more!

A $10 million Department of Energy study from 1991 examined 10 years of epidemiological research by the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health on 700,000 shipyard workers, some of whom had been exposed to 10 times more radiation than the others from their work on the ships' nuclear reactors. The workers exposed to excess radiation had a 24 percent lower death rate and a 25 percent lower cancer mortality than the non-irradiated workers.
Isn't that just incredible? I mean, that the Department of Energy spent $10 million doing something useful? Amazing, right?

In 1983, a series of apartment buildings in Taiwan were accidentally constructed with massive amounts of cobalt 60, a radioactive substance. After 16 years, the buildings' 10,000 occupants developed only five cases of cancer. The cancer rate for the same age group in the general Taiwanese population over that time period predicted 170 cancers.

The people in those buildings had been exposed to radiation nearly five times the maximum "safe" level according to the U.S. government. But they ended up with a cancer rate 96 percent lower than the general population.

What? But the media said we would get cancer and die!!

Alright, not that I'm trying to downplay the fact that a tragedy happened in Japan, but I don't think Japan is anywhere near Chernobyl. I'm tired of the American (and now British) media running round shrieking that you need to start taking iodine or you'll die. Just when it seem like everyone is doomed (re: Daily Mail) I find something that shows that, wow, we're not doomed after all (see: Ann Coulter).

Only time will tell about the nuclear effects on Japan. I don't think it will be much. I don't even think it will hurt the West coast of America that much, even if we do get a cloud of radiation blown over.

Now will the media please settle down and stop portraying this as a new Chernobyl in the making?

Missing Person: Marizela Perez

It's been awhile I visited Michelle Malkin's blog, but today I went back, just in time to hear that her cousin, Marizela Perez, is missing.

[Marizela] is a University of Washington undergrad and she has been missing
since Saturday afternoon, when she left the Rainier Beach neighborhood headed to
the UW Seattle campus. Her parents have been trying to reach her all weekend;
she apparently never made it to campus and has not been heard from by
phone/Internet. They’ve filed a missing persons report with the Seattle Police
Department. Hospitals have been alerted, according to family members, and bus
and train routes have been checked. No sign.

Good God, They've Murdered Americans

Good God, they've murdered an American here. Let's get on with it.

- Ronald Reagan, before he okayed a plan to capture terrorists who hijacked a boat and killed an American.

I don't ever want to hear another comparison of Obama to Reagan, again. Not ever. Today the definitive proof is in the Obama isn't good enough to carry Reagan's shoes, much less try to wear them.

Not so long ago, a yacht with four Americans on it was hijacked by pirates. And when this yacht was hijacked, Obama ... did nothing. Now the Americans who were on the yacht are dead. Via Gateway Pundit:

The four Americans aboard a yacht hijacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia are dead.

Hijacked last Friday off Oman, the Quest was being piloted toward the Somali coast – and was being shadowed by a U.S. Navy warship.

CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reports that gunshots aboard the yacht were heard, and the warship took action.

All 4 Americans were dead, killed apparently by their captors.

The yacht was being shadowed by a Navy vessel, but no one attempted a rescue? Where were the Navy Seals? Why weren't they allowed to shoot the pirates?

The four dead are Jean and Scott Adams, the yacht owners, and two passengers, Bob Riggle and Phyllis Macay.

So, just on the off chance I missed it, what did Obama do about these hijackings?

Okay, before I start tossing rocks, I just wanted to check and make sure that I wasn't casting blame wrongly, but I see that I'm not.

I am so mad over this I could scream. While our hand-wringing pantywaist in chief is off interfering in Wisconsin and ~~fiddling~~ golfing while the Middle East burns, four Americans just got murdered. How do you account for this, Mr. President? How do you explain this?

And despite the fact the Obama is inept, the mainstream media insists that Obama is like or loves Reagan or something.

Which is a bald-faced lie. Obama has nothing on Reagan. Not in economics, not in national security, and not even in stopping pirates. As reported by Ann Coulter:

In 1985, Muslim terrorists hijacked the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro and threatened to kill the passengers and crew unless 50 imprisoned Palestinians were released by Israel. The terrorists doused American and British women with gasoline and taunted them with matches. They forced passengers to hold live grenades. When their demands were not met, the terrorists shot a wheelchair-bound American, Leon Klinghoffer, and forced other passengers at gunpoint to throw him overboard in his wheelchair.

Even as the Americans were preparing a rescue mission, the Italian and Egyptian governments made a deal with the terrorists, offering the release of the Palestinians and safe passage to Egypt to end the ordeal. The Europeans were delighted with this masterful act of diplomacy. The Americans were not so pleased.

Oliver North conceived of an operation to get the terrorists back. Contrary to Egyptian president Mubarak's assurances that the terrorists had already left Egypt, North found out the terrorists were still there. Indeed, working with Israeli intelligence, North determined the precise EgyptAir 737 that would carry the terrorists out of Egypt, even down to the flight number. He wanted to intercept the flight, modeling the operation on the extraordinary World War II interception of Yamamoto, mastermind of Pearl Harbor.

President Reagan was briefed on the daring plan – along with copious warnings from timorous State Department officials that the Europeans might have their feelings bruised, America would look like a cowboy, and it would only strengthen the hard-liners in Egypt. Asked if the operation should proceed, Reagan said: "Good God! They've murdered an American here. Let's get on with it."

The plan was successful, and the pirates were captured. What has Obama done to stop pirates? Nothing. In 2009 a captain kidnapped by pirates was successfully rescued, but only after lots of hemming and hawing by Barack Obama. Oh, and he almost cost that captain his life a couple of times by ordering the Seals not to shoot unless they were sure the captain was in danger.

Hark, in the time I have been writing this post, and update has come from the LA Times, via Gateway Pundit:

The bodies of the four Americans are on board the carrier Enterprise off the Horn of Africa, according to Central Command. The names of the Southern California couple are Scott and Jean Adam, boaters who were based out of Orange County.]

Four U.S. Navy ships had been shadowing the Quest after it was taken over by the pirates, Mattis said. While negotiations were underway to gain the release of the Americans, U.S. forces responded to gunfire aboard the Quest. The four Americans had been shot, Mattis said.

Two of the pirates were killed by U.S. forces and 13 captured, Mattis said. After boarding the Quest, military personnel found the bodies of two other pirates. The incident occurred about 1 a.m. EST.

Negotiating? Only negotiating? Good lord, that's not good enough. While the Obama administration was negotiating with the terrorists, the hostages got murdered.

Reagan would have more than negotiate with the pirates to rescue the hostages. Obama has nothing on that great American.

Obama is no Reagan.

It's been a busy week, and I don't just mean because of college, which is enough to keep anyone busy. The news this week has been an explosion. First I think it was this week that Mubarak stepped down. Maybe it was last week. Who knows. Either way, there goes another US ally - thanks for nothing, Barack. I anxiously await the 2012 election, or, as I like to think of it sometimes, your Day of Reckoning.

That was the beginning of the explosions, but they just kept coming after that. I posted down

here already about Lara Logan's rape in Egypt. I heard through the blogosphere, but without confirmation, that the CBS execs sat on this story because they didn't want it getting out, lest it reflect badly on Obummer.

Well, turns out the blogosphere scuttlebutt was correct. CBS did indeed sit on the story. From Gateway Pundit, who got it from Jewish World Review:

A funny thing happened on the way to the glorious democracy ostensibly emerging in Egypt. CBS reporter Lara Logan, “covering the jubilation” as CBS put it, was surrounded by a mob of men screaming, “Jew, Jew!” who beat and sexually assaulted her. She is currently recovering in a U.S. hospital from injuries described as “serious.” Despite the fact that the incident occurred last Friday, CBS sat on the story until it became apparent that other members of the media had gotten wind of it. Why? The bet here is that this incident interferes with the mainstream media-established narrative regarding the true nature of some “freedom-loving” Egyptians. People yearning for democracy aren’t supposed to be anti-Semitic thugs or sexual predators as well. Thus, a genuine news item became an “un-story.”

…What is really going on in the Middle East? Upheaval–of a largely undefined nature. Where is it leading? Despite mountains of “expert” analysis, one really knows, not even the participants themselves. The American news media? A pack of Walter Durantys with narratives as tailored as those the NY Times Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter spun about the great “democratic reformer” known as Josef Stalin. A group of narrators as practiced in the art of taqiyya, which is defined as lying to protect Islam, as the Islamists themselves…

…And not just Islamists. In my entire career as a columnist, I can’t recall a time when so many members of the Fourth Estate were so willing to run interference for a president and his administration. Can anyone remotely imagine CBS spiking the same story if George W. Bush were president? Lara Logan would have been the poster girl for “unrealistic expectations of democracy in Egypt.” Bush would have been thoroughly excoriated for his idea that freedom is “G0d’s gift to mankind,” even as Barack Obama’s water-carriers have been characterizing the events in Egypt as “one the great triumphs of the human spirit” (Thomas Friedman, NY Times), or “a massive eloquent validation of the moral force and power of non-violent civil disobedience” comparable to the “legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King.” (Clarence B. Jones, Huffington Post).

The media actively obstructed the news. And they wonder why we're all getting our information from either FOX or the blogs. Hm. I can't fathom why. (<- Sarcasm.)

And then we have the Wisconsin boondoggle. For those of you who don't know the whole story behind this, let's go back to beginning and start from there. From Michelle Malkin:

The lowdown: State government workers in the Badger State pay piddling amounts for generous taxpayer-subsidized health benefits. Faced with a $3.6 billion budget hole and a state constitutional ban on running a deficit, new GOP Gov. Scott Walker wants public unions to pony up a little more. He has proposed raising the public employee share of health insurance premiums from less than 5 percent to 12.4 percent. He is also pushing for state workers to cover half of their pension contributions. To spare taxpayers the soaring costs of Byzantine union-negotiated work rules, he would rein in Big Labor’s collective bargaining power to cover only wages unless approved at the ballot box.

Malkin also posted the salary information on her blog. These screaming union thug teachers up there make about $50,000 a year in salary and THEN they get benefits. Nice. And these people are whining because they have to pony up a few extra dollars.

Oh, and they might also be mad because they'll lose their collective bargaining power, which if I am not mistaken means they can't control how much vacation time they work and how long they work in a day, never mind that no private sector employee gets to do that.

But no, the teachers got angry, and they had rallies, and then, in the strangest twist of the week, the Wisconsin Democrats fled. Right out of the state. They apparently did this to keep the Wisconsin police from rounding them up and dragging them back to the State house. Or jail, inasmuch as these Dems have now broken the law.

And then we learned that Obama and the Democrats were behind the union rallies:

Now folded into the Democratic National Committee, Obama’s campaign group Organizing For America is already actively engaged in Wisconsin and is beginning to ramp up organizing efforts in Ohio, though observers say the latter process is about a week behind that in Wisconsin. The group is also beginning to dig into Indiana, whose legislature is considering a bill to limit collective bargaining by teachers.

I can't imagine what they're going to try and do in Indiana, seeing as Mitch Daniels wisely got rid of public-sector unions when he came into office. I do know that there is a bill in the legislature here to do a school voucher program, and I support that. The public school teachers here hate it. I didn't know they had collective bargaining rights down here.

Governor Walker, the man in charge up in Wisconsin, told Obama that he was working on balancing the budget, and maybe Obama ought to work on balancing his. Three cheers for Governor Walker!!

It's been one heck of a week. I don't know what kind of plot twist to expect next in this story, though I hope in involves the Dems getting dragged back to Wisconsin to their jobs. Then after the vote, I hope they get tossed in jail. I'm tired of Dems being able to break the law with impunity.

One more thing I want to mention before I close: the House of Representatives voted to defund Obamacare and Planned Parenthood, which is good news. The lying Democrats though, are another story. Take a gander at this:

The House on Friday voted largely along party lines to prohibit funding for President Obama’s healthcare reform law and eliminate funding for family planning.

In a quick succession of two-minute votes, the House adopted three amendments to their stopgap budget bill that eliminates healthcare reform funding through the end of the fiscal year. The House also approved, 240-185, an amendment barring federal Title X family planning grants that was aimed squarely at Planned Parenthood.

The vote on the Planned Parenthood amendment from Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) was postponed Thursday night after three hours of bitter debate during which Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) revealed she once had to have an abortion. She made the revelation on the House floor after Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) described in graphic detail an abortion procedure.

“I really planned to speak about something else but the gentleman from New Jersey just put my stomach in knots because I’m one of those women he spoke about just now,” Speier said. “I had a procedure at 17 weeks pregnant with a child who moved from the vagina into the cervix. And that procedure that you just described is a procedure that I endured.”

Jackie Spier is a liar. Do you know how we Conservatives know this? Read her statement again: “I had a procedure at 17 weeks pregnant with a child who moved from the vagina into the cervix. And that procedure that you just described is a procedure that I endured.”

I hate to give anatomy lessons, but a baby does not gestate in the vagina. She could have had an ecoptic pregnancy, but not if it lasted for 17 weeks, as she would been in agony or dead by that time. Liar.

Really, it's been quite the week.

There will probably never be a better time to confront this 'religion' than now, when it's come out that an American journalist was surrounded by a mob and raped in Cairo.

As reported via Gateway Pundit:

TOP US-based journalist Lara Logan suffered a “brutal and sustained sexual assault” last week while reporting in Cairo’s Tahrir Square.

The 39-year old CBS correspondent was in the centre of the square last Friday as crowds feted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s resignation.

Suddenly, Logan and her security team were circled by a mob of more than 200 people including “a dangerous element amidst the celebration,” CBS said in a statement.

“In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and
suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers,” CBS said.

Logan, who is CBS’s chief foreign affairs correspondent, was rushed out of the country the next day. She is currently at an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment.

Can I finally say, in public and without fear of reciprocation, that Muslims are third-world savages? Because they are. The mainstream media will be in tears today if they have to report this - and not because Logan was raped. If they're in tears, it will be because they finally have to tell the truth.

By all accounts, she ought not to have been there. Egypt is not a safe place right now, and it's definitely not a safe place for an American woman, but that doesn't excuse what the rabid Islamofacists did to her. Many thanks to the brave Egyptian women and soldiers who stepped in to stop this travesty.

May Logan recover swiftly.

And let's tell the truth from now on, shall we? Islam is no religion of peace.

Frost Quakes!!

This is so wild. It goes with other things I love, including ball lightning and will-o-the-wisps. I've been through a frost quake!

Local Indiana station WTHR reported:

Many WTHR viewers reported hearing a loud boom early Thursday morning.

We've heard from people in Geist, Avon, Mooresville, Anderson, Noblesville, Decatur Township and in Randolph County. Residents described hearing a loud booming sound that woke them up, and some said their dishes rattled. One person says they thought their roof was collapsing.

An expert says the loud booms are probably something called "frost quakes" from all of the ice built up during the ice storm. The frost quake phenomenon is caused by a sudden cracking in soil or rock caused by the freezing and expanding of water.

"It's like a very soft explosion actually. It's like someone ran into something outside," said Dr. Gabriel Filippelli, IUPUI geology professor. "Unlike an earthquake where you feel it across hundreds or thousands of miles, these frost quakes are really localized because it doesn't freeze very deep."

The technical term is cryoseism - also known as a frost quake.

How neat! Here's what Wikipedia said about cryoseism. There apparently two types of cryoseisms, one caused by frost and one caused by ice:

A cryoseism known as a frost quake may be caused by a sudden cracking action in frozen soil or rock saturated with water or ice. As water seeps down into the rock, it freezes and expands, putting stress on surrounding rock. This builds up until it is relieved explosively in a cryoseism.

...

Cryoseisms are often mistaken for minor or intraplate earthquakes.Although the outward signs often appear similar to those of an earthquake, with tremors, vibrations, ground cracking and related noises such as thundering or booming sounds,

There were booming sounds.

cryoseisms can be distinguished from earthquakes through meteorological and geological conditions. ... [C]ryoseisms often exhibit high intensity in a very localized area, in the immediate proximity of the epicenter, as compared to the widespread effects of an earthquake.

Some reports have indicated the presence of "distant flashing lights" before or during a cryoseism, possibly due to the electrical changes when the rocks are compressed. Cracks and fissures can also appear, as the ground may contract and split apart from the cold.

...

Cryoseisms typically occur when temperatures rapidly decrease from above freezing to subzero, in the first cold snap of spring. They usually occur between midnight and dawn, during the coldest part of the night. ... In general, cryoseisms occur 3 to 4 hours after significant changes in temperature. Due to the perennial or seasonal frost conditions involved with cryoseisms, these events are limited to temperate climates which experience seasonal variation with subzero winters. Furthermore, the ground must be saturated with water, which can be caused by snowmelt, rain, sleet or flooding and the site of a cryoseism generally has little or no snow cover to insulate the ground. Geologically, areas of permeable materials like sand or gravel, which are affected by frost action are most susceptible to experience cryoseisms. After large cryoseisms, there is generally no seismic activity detected for several hours, an indication that accumulated stress has been relieved.

Several things I notice in here, like the time these things occur. The strongest one didn't come until almost eight o'clock Thursday morning, but they were going on through out the night. (I can account for this no thanks to my insomnia.) The ground being saturated with water, well, we did have a bit of thawing before this occurred. I wonder where the quake originated from.

I don't want to be too mean to the college I'm currently attending, mainly because I'm friends with some of the people who work there, and I like the place, but I felt the need to say something about this. My college is doing this film series on Diversity, and the fact that they called it a diversity film series should have been a dead giveaway, but I have nothing to do on Wednesday nights (other than sit in the Student Lounge), so that's how I ended up going to the first one.

The movie was called "The Long Walk Home," and it's about the Montgomery bus boycott. I though it was pretty good, until I realized something just the other night: they did not show one white man in a positive light in this movie. White women? Yes. White men? No.

Alright, so, The Long Walk Home focus on a black housekeeper/maid (played by Whoopi Goldberg. I couldn't believe it.) who works for a well-to-do white family. The house where her employers work is a good distance away from her own home, so every morning, she takes the bus to get there, until, of course, the boycott begins.

After that, she walks to work, which takes her longer and eventually, tired of waiting for her employee so long, her employer starts picking her up twice a week and driving her to work. After all, the employer reasons, she goes out early on those mornings, so on the way back she may as well stop and pick up the housekeeper on the way back.

So everything's going along fine for awhile, until her husband finds out that she's giving the housekeeper a ride, and he orders her to stop. So she stops for a day, but later that night she makes her point clear to her husband: she doesn't come to work to help him with his job. She doesn't need him telling her how to take care of the house. And if she needs to give the maid a ride to keep the house in order, then that's what she's going to do.

So she resumes giving the maid rides, and then she wants to get more involved in this bus boycott. During the boycott, the blacks in the city get all the cars they can together and carpool, and so the employer offers her car, and driving services, to the carpool.

Meanwhile, her husband is being influenced by his nasty younger brother, and ends up involved in a group - of white men, of course, - who are going to break up the boycott. I just love how they have the Confederate flag in their meeting place. Because of course, the ONLY reason the Civil War was fought was about slavery. It had nothing to do with state's rights. Nope, nothing at all.

So, one night the employer and her daughter are there at the carpool, finishing up for the day, when the giant group of men shows up to destroy the cars and drive everyone away. So, the first thing the younger brother does is try to get his sister-in-law out of there. That doesn't the work. The next thing you know, all these black women are surrounded by white men who are yelling at them to walk home. At first the employer just stands there with the men, then she finally goes and joins the black women. And then there's tears and sorrow and joy because she did the right thing even if the white men are all bigots.

Alright, now, maybe there was a good reason to make this movie. I haven't found one yet. Not all white men, not even in the South, are or were bigots, okay? And movies that portray every white men like that are doing this country a disservice. Usually when I watch a movie, I want to escape the real world, not have it shoved back at me. Has their been bigotry in the past? Yes. And Hollyweird makes sure to portray people as bigots rather then show them as heroes. How the white men who marched at Selma? I've been told there were some. How about a movie about how they suffered so colored people could have the same rights as whites?

But no one will ever make a movie like that.

And the next film in this series promises to be a doozy. More on that one at a later date.

How a Bill REALLY Becomes Law

I Can't Wait to See This

I made a Valentine's Banner... I don't know if I like it or not. It's so...pink. And...bright. And my blog is a lot more subdued. And the hearts are just weird. And random.

Okay. I went back and tried to redo the banner. Hopefully it looks a little bit better now. (It's still so pink. So...pink. not that I have anything against, pink, but there's so much of it in my new banner!) Oh well. It's until after Valentine's Day, and then I think we're going back to black.

Also, happy 100th birthday to Ronald Reagan, one of the greatest presidents who ever lived. We could really use another Reagan right about now.

Sderot

So tell me, when was the last time you turned on the TV, went to your favorite news station, and saw the commentator blaming Israel for launcing missiles at some other Middle Eastern country? Ok, so maybe not recently, but you've seen it before. You know you have.

So, did the commentator ever tell you the other side the story? Like what provoked Israel to attack in the first place? Israel does not just go around randomly lobbing missiles at other country for the fun of it. (If you have believed this in the past, then you have confused Israel with the rest of the Middle East.)

No, when Israel finally goes on the offensive, it means that they're tired of having missiles fired into thier own country. Case in point: Sderot, Israel.

From the UK's Daily Mail:

And suddenly it comes, a noise like the slamming of a heavy door as a sleek, six-foot-long Qassam rocket bursts into the cloudless blue sky.

Its trajectory is marked by a trail of white smoke as it curves towards the town. Almost simultaneously, sirens begin to wail.

A woman's urgent voice repeats the words, "Tseva Adom, Tseva Adom," over public address loudspeakers.

In Hebrew this means, "Code Red".

It signifies a missile is on its way.

Sderot's jittery residents have no more than 15 seconds to take cover before the rocket hits.

On this occasion, they will have to wait there for a long time.

For the next 72 hours Code Red alerts will sound almost continuously; Islamic militant groups in Gaza have begun raining the first of more than 100 rockets on to the town during a terrifying three-day attack.

Most miss or fizzle out.

But there's always a few that find a target.

How would you feel if this was your town? From Ron Mossad's blog:

Welcome to Sderot, Israel, population approximately 20,000. The scene you just read is one that has been repeated basically on a daily basis since March, 2002....

But Sderot isn't just a thumbtack on a google map showing the latest rocket strike in the perpetual hell of Middle East reality. It's a real city with real people that I had the privilege of visiting this past January. Palestinians fired four mortars at us while I was there. Luckily their aim was off and the mortars all landed in their own territory - no code red for me.

Seems like a lot of people are protected by, as Steven Crowder put it, "The God-given gift of Islamic Terrorist ineptitude." To bad not everyone's that lucky all the time.

And yet, despite the PTSD and seemingly perpetual choas that surrounds the city of Sderot, it's just a normal place ... well, other than the rockets, of course. Back to Ron Mossad's blog:

If you follow Israeli news you read a lot about traumatized residents of Sderot with PTSD or children that have developed panic attacks as a result of incessant Code Red alerts...but in a way, seeing how relatable the people were, affected me more than reading about victims of attacks. These people aren't superheroes, they're just regular human beings like you and me who want nothing more complicated than to be able to get out of bed in the morning WITHOUT BEING SHOT AT BY A BUNCH OF IRANIAN-FUNDED, OVERSIZED BAZOOKAS.

They have jobs, they drink tea, they send their children to school, they go out drinking (a local pub was selected by Haaretz as serving the "best cocktail" in Israel), they even produce the Bissli snacks - popular with so many American Jews - at the Osem plant right outside town. In short, this could be quiet rural town in South Jersey or Pennsylvania or Michigan or Kansas or Oklahoma or wherever. You could have had the luck of being born here instead of wherever you grew up.

The only difference is that if you had been born here, [rockets] would be falling on your head on a nearly daily basis for the past eight straight years. This is what would have been raining down on you 20, 30, 50, A HUNDRED times per DAY before your government finally decided to act against the perpetrators. This is what the rest of the world would expect you to endure falling on you as you drove to work or waited with your child for the bus or lay in bed considering what to do with your holiday weekend.

I really can't imagine what it must feel like to have missiles lobbed at you every single day. and these people live with this day after day.

So next time you hear that Israeli soldiers are being blamed for some skirmish over in the Middle East, remember Sderot.

because everyone feels bad for the Muslims who are having thier homes destroyed by the Israelis, but the mainstream media will never report on Sderot.

On Same-Sex Marriage

The Grand Pantomime: There Is No Such Thing as Same-Sex Marriage
Same-sex marriage is a fiction. Even if everyone believes that the fiction is real.

When a happy young couple says “I do,” their marriage is contingent on their performing a specific sexual act.

If they want to make their marriage real, they must consummate it. And that means that the meaning of marriage lies in the possibility of procreation. A marriage unconsummated is not a marriage. It is nullified, as though the ceremony had never happened.

To become real, a marriage requires the possibility of conception. It does not require conception. Failure to conceive has never been grounds for nullification. Older, presumably infertile, couples are allowed to marry because if they had performed the same act in the past they might have conceived a child.

From its inception, the institution of marriage has always granted male/female couples the presumption of fertility. A couple that can never, between themselves, perform the generative sexual act cannot be married, regardless of what the state and the courts say.

Moreover, marriage has always been a universal human institution. If Jack and Jane are married in Paducah or in Xian they will be commonly recognized as such anywhere in the world. You cannot say the same of Jack and Jim, regardless of whether they were married in Boston or Buenos Aires. If Jack and Jim travel the world and present themselves as a married couple, most people will be sufficiently polite not to challenge them. But they will look askance at Jack and Jim. ...

... What happens if Jack and Jim are declared by the state to be married? At the least, everyone will be required to play along, for fear of hurting their feelings.
Anyone who might be inclined to tell the truth will be forced to shut up.

Most people know that same-sex couples are not really married. Some of them are too polite to say so. Others are being cowed into going along.

After all, it’s just a harmless illusion, so why not just go along?

Not to be too dramatic, but what happens to us when we are forced to accept that reality is what we say it is? What happens to us when we believe that we can change reality by controlling what people say and how they think?

All of a sudden, this does not feel quite so harmless.

Retired Indian Soldier VS. Forty bandits

Lone Nepali Gorkha who subdued 40 train robbers

MANOJ ADHIKARI/SANTOSH POKHAREL POKHARA, Jan 13: Gorkha soldiers have long been known the world over for their valor and these khukuri-wielding warriors winning the British many a battle have become folklore.

A retired Indian Gorkha soldier recently revisited those glory days when he thwarted 40 robbers, killing three of them and injuring eight others, with his khukuri during a train journey. He is in line to receive three gallantry awards from the Indian government.

Slave girl Morgiana in the Arabian Nights used her cunning to finish off Ali Baba´s 40 thieves, but Bishnu Shrestha of Baidam, Pokhara-6 did not have time to plot against the 40 train robbers. He, however, made good use of his khukuri to save the chastity of a girl and hundreds of thousands in loot.

Shrestha, who was in the Maurya Express to Gorakhpur from Ranchi on September 2 while returning home following voluntary retirement from the Indian army--saved the girl who was going to be raped by the robbers in front of her hapless parents, and in doing so won plaudits from everybody.

The Indian government is to decorate Shrestha with its Sourya Chakra, Bravery Award and Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Medal and the 35-year-old is leaving for India Saturday to receive the first of the awards on the occasion of India´s Republic Day on January 26.

“The formal announcement of the awards will be made on Republic Day and on Independence Day on August 15,” said Shrestha, whose father Gopal Babu also retired from the same 7/8 Platoon of the Gorkha Regiment around 29 years ago.

His regiment has already given him a cash award of Indian rupees 50,000, and decided to terminate his voluntary retirement. He will get the customary promotion after receiving the medals. The Indian government will also announce a cash bounty for him and special discounts on international air tickets and domestic train tickets.

The band of about 40 robbers, some of whom were travelling as passengers, stopped the train in the Chittaranjan jungles in West Bengal around midnight. Shrestha-- who had boarded the train at Ranchi in Jharkhand, the place of his posting--was in seat no. 47 in coach AC3.

“They started snatching jewelry, cell phones, cash, laptops and other belongings from the passengers,” Shrestha recalled. The soldier had somehow remained a silent spectator amidst the melee, but not for long. He had had enough when the robbers stripped an 18-year-old girl sitting next to him and tried to rape her right in front of her parents. He then took out his khukuri and took on the robbers.

“The girl cried for help, saying ´You are a soldier, please save a sister´,” Shrestha recalled. “I prevented her from being raped, thinking of her as my own sister,” he added. He took one of the robbers under control and then started to attack the others. He said the rest of the robbers fled after he killed three of them with his khukuri and injured eight others.

During the scuffle he received serious blade injury to his left hand while the girl also had a minor cut on her neck. “They had carried out their robbery with swords, blades and pistols. The pistols may have been fake as they didn´t open fire,” he surmised.

The train resumed its journey after some 20 minutes and a horde of media persons and police were present when it reached Chittaranja station. Police arrested the eight injured dacoits and recovered around 400,000 Indian rupees in cash, 40 gold necklaces, 200 cell phones, 40 laptops and other items that the fleeing robbers dropped in the train.

Police escorted Shrestha to the Railways Hospital after the rescued girl told them about his heroic deed. Mainstream Indian media carried the story. The parents of the girl, who was going for her MBBS studies, also announced a cash award of Indian rupees 300,000 for him but he has not met them since.

“Even the veins and arteries in my left hand were slit but the injury has now healed after two months of neurological treatment at the Command Hospital in Kolkata,” he said showing the scar. “Fighting the enemy in battle is my duty as a soldier; taking on the dacoits in the train was my duty as a human being,” said the Indian army nayak, who has been given two guards during his month-long holidays in Nepal.

“I am proud to be able to prove that a Gorkha soldier with a khukuri is really a handful. I would have been a meek spectator had I not carried that khukuri,” he said.
He still finds it hard to believe that he took on 40 armed robbers alone. “They may have feared that more of my army friends were traveling with me and fled after fighting me for around 20 minutes,” he explained.

I thought this was a cool story.

Suicide Bombers in Russia & The State of the Union

First, I would like to give my condolences to the family of the injured and dead in the recent terrorist attacks in Russia. Terrorism is terrorism, no matter what side of the ocean you're on.

There's one other thing I want to mention about this story, and that's the fact that the Russian authorities found a head of one of the suicide bombers, and the Russian media reported that head to be Arab in appearance.

I read that, and i thought, could you imagine what kind of screaming would go on in America if one of the mainstream media outlets had dared to call a terrorist a Muslim. No one wants to tell the truth. These leech Muslims are everywhere, and everyone is afraid of being called racist, despite the fact that Islam is not a race. However, this is not the first time that Russia has brushed against these animals. Another example is in the Beslan school attack (Warning: Linked story contains graphic descriptions.)

May the victims of this attack, and the victims of all these Muslim-perpetrated terrorist attacks, rest in peace.

Now we're going to talk about something else, and that is Odummer's State of the Union address. I'm not going to spend too much time on it, but Gateway Pundit had a link to the speech transcript, and I thought we could look at a few pieces of it.

(For the record, I did not watch this speech. I have better things to waste my life on that Obama's SOTU speeches)

Let's not start at the top, let's just jump in:

...[T]here’s a reason the tragedy in Tucson gave us pause. Amid all the noise and passion and rancor of our public debate, Tucson reminded us that no matter who we are or where we come from, each of us is a part of something greater -– something more consequential than party or political preference.

It's funny that he brings up Tucson and says that it reminds us we're all part of something greater, especially after his party raced to blame everyone else for political rhetoric that supposedly started the shooting. And by 'funny' I mean 'hypocritical.'

At stake right now is not who wins the next election

Umm, yes it is. Do you know how traumatic the thought of you having a second term is?

-– after all, we just had an election. At stake is whether new jobs and industries take root in this country, or somewhere else. It’s whether the hard work and industry of our people is rewarded. It’s whether we sustain the leadership that has made America not just a place on a map, but the light to the world.

Yes, Barack, but you keep wanting to raise taxes on businesses, and therefore send them overseas. Or your cronies want to make the minimum wage higher, in which case jobs will still flee. America is a light, but you want to snuff that light out.

We are poised for progress. Two years after the worst recession most of us have ever known, the stock market has come roaring back. Corporate profits are up. The economy is growing again.

Then why is unemployment still so high? Seriously.

I could probably spend all day doing this, but I have better things to do with my time. Ann Coulter sums the speech up the best:

Obama said, "We are the nation that put cars in driveways and computers in offices; the nation of Edison and the Wright brothers; of Google and Facebook."

And then the government outlawed Edison's great invention, made the Wright brothers' air travel insufferable, filed anti-trust charges against Microsoft and made cars too expensive to drive by prohibiting oil exploration, and right now -- at this very minute -- is desperately trying to regulate the Internet.

That pretty much sums it up.

May the victims of the Russian bomb attacks rest in peace, and may the U.S. be blessed with an impeachment hearing - before next year's SOTU.

Emergency Alert: Venezuela

This coming Sunday, 1/23 will be a critical day in the passions of world history.

It could bring a new birth of freedom, or an atrocity worse than Tienanmen Square. All eyes must turn to Caracas, Venezuela and remain vigilant until the Marxofascist insurrection ends.

Over this past Christmas season, a hardcore, totalitarian mixture of Marxism and fascism (hence, Marxofascism) has been forced upon this nation of great strategic
importance, one citizen’s life after another.

Did you know that? No shame if you did not. Eerily, even a dogged newshound may not have caught a whiff of the stench of Chavez’ totalitarian abrogations. Even so, this coming Sunday, January 23, Venezuela’s courageous require, perhaps desperately, the massively focused attention of Americans and of the entire world. Will the whole world be watching?

Now, immediately, if news is spread, if watchers watch and prayers pray, it could mean the Venezuelans’ key to freedom and perhaps a turning point in the worldwide soft war against freedom and sovereignty, by a stealthy, globalist, Marxofascist complex. Yes, Virginia and even District of Columbia, there is a vast globalist, Marxist/fascist conspiracy. Just call it a “beast,” to use the term the Bible provides for such machinations and deal with it.

According to published articles and Venezuelan sources, this beast has applied the tentacles and fangs of Cuba, FARC, Iran, and Russia, to come to the aid of Hugo Chavez, after his party lost the overall majority vote in Venezuela’s parliamentary elections, September 26, of the past year. And it becomes increasingly apparent, this beast includes others, even some of the powers that be (TPTB) in America; more on that in a subsequent article from us.

While the majority voted against Chavez’ party, they maintained a majority in their parliament. This vote signaled the potential failure of that governing majority to sustain itself. Their solution was to relinquish authority to Chavez by a very broad enabling act, granting him dictator status.

By Christmas time, the Chavez thugs’ rallying cry was “Merry Chavismo,” as they busied themselves confiscating major farms totaling many thousands of acres, especially in the relatively successful, freer market stronghold of the Sur del Lago region. ... This is a locality very rich in oil and natural gas, also in increasingly precious agriculture and never mind Venezuelan mouths, the top-down tyrannical regimes of the world are hungry for all of the above.

Chavez’ ill-fitting excuse, not wasting even a micro-crisis: his government needed to
come to the rescue after alleged chaos following heavy rains. ...

Massive protests followed. Farm machinery was parked on highways,
blocking the movement of military confiscators. In one case, thug forces were
halted by a ninety-something-year old man, blocking their path. But eventually,
for the most part, they accomplished their kleptocratic work, as family and
corporate farmers both had their land stolen by Marxist fiat.

As the demonstrations mounted, we are informed, Chavez told farmers that his
bureaucrats would review their land rights, if they brought their legal deeds
for review. They were stored in a building that was promptly burned. Chavez, not
missing a Marxofascist beat, then assented it was arson, but blamed it upon his
opposition in the Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) party.

Venezuelan students vow never to give up nor give in

Tens of thousands of students have organized, to depose Hugo Chavez. They have vowed to not to recognize Chavez as the legitimate president of Venezuela, vowing to remove him from office “at any cost,” through civil disobedience.

Here's what it all comes down to:

On the anniversary of when the people of Venezuela threw out the last dictator,
January 23 (Sunday) they take to the streets again to protest against dictatorship. There will be sympathy demonstrations in some 30 cities around the world, including Miami.

The reason for holding this rally is not only the anniversary, but also the unconstitutional laws that have been implemented to deny any power to non-chavista parties, even in jurisdictions where they actually won the elections. There is no judicial separation of powers (e.g., judge Maria Afiuni is in jail without trial because Chavez didn’t like her verdict in a case); there is no legislative separation of powers (the lame duck Congress granted Chavez the right to rule by decree); and there is no local democracy (all state and municipal elected bodies have been replaced by “communes” answerable only to Chavez).

Furthermore there is media and internet censorship, and rampant confiscations of private property, both firms and farms. Rather than to use the oil wealth to improve conditions in Venezuela, Chavez is using it to subsidize the dictatorships
in Cuba and Belarus, and he is apparently bribing the politicians of Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Honduras, to change also their constitutions to allow for perpetual reelection of the president. Being an ally of Ahmedinejad and Putin, and spending heavily on armaments for a high-technology war, he is clearly setting the stage for a conflict with the United States.

The main event is of course in Caracas, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM ET.

Erlingsson also lists locations and times around the world, in which demonstrations will be held. ... These include, in the United States: Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Dallas. ... American patriots, from Tea Parties to social democrats are being urged to show up as a “flash mob” preferably with a red gag or bandana over their mutually non-violent mouths — or at least to noise it up, in media and to media.

I won't be wearing a red bandanna over my mouth in church tomorrow, but I do plan to wear red. Feel free to pass this post or Gulag Bound's post on.

The Tucson Tragedy Blame Game

Well, what can I say about this that you all don't already know?

First, my condolences to the families of those who were killed in this terrible crime. Fourteen people were injured, and six people were killed when lunatic Jared Loughner opened fire.

The deceased are Judge John Roll, 63; Gabriel Zimmerman, 30; Phyllis Sheck, 79; Dorthy Murray, 76; Dorwin Stoddard, 76; and Christina Greene, 9.

Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the target of the attack, is alive but still in critical condition.

And as one Conservative put it, "before the blood had even dried" down there in Arizona, the Left was rushing to assign blame.

To the Tea Party, of course.

Now, liberals are running around screaming that this is the fault of the Tea Party and that angry rhetoric cause Loughner to snap and start shooting. Never mind all the stuff Obama has said.

Liberals passing through will say, 'oh, but that was just rhetoric. The president was being metaphorical.' Yeah? Well you've accused me of spouting rhetoric that caused Loughner to snap, and I'm a little out-of-the-way blogger. I don't have a public stage like Obama does. Tell me who's rhetoric Loughner would have been hearing. And yes, I referenced myself, because if you blame the Tea Party, you've blamed me.

But nevertheless, the Dems still planned to blame this on the Tea Party. In fact they planned it almost as soon as they heard about. From Politico via Gateway Pundit (emphasis added):

One veteran Democratic operative, who blames overheated rhetoric for the shooting, said President Barack Obama should carefully but forcefully do what his predecessor did.

“They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers,” said the Democrat. “Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”

I think that speaks for itself.

Besides the Tea party, there was a great liberal rush to blame Sarah Palin for the attacks. The reasoning behind this was a picture that Palin had on her website before the election, which showed Rep. Gifford's district in cross hairs.

Never mind that Brad Ellsworth, who's district was also in cross hairs, is still alive, not to mention the other politicians who were in cross hairs. Help me out here, liberals, what are you trying to prove? After the Fort Hood shooting, we were all told not to rush to judgement, but after Tucson, you all went running to blame Sarah Palin and the Tea Party. Which leave me asking, what gives?

Never mind all the Leftist rhetoric against Sarah Palin, which Michelle Malkin has detailed here.

Never mind the fact that Loughner has been fixated on Rep. Giffords since 2007, long before Sarah Palin became famous nationwide and before the Tea Party even existed.

Today word came that only 32% of America thinks that rhetoric had anything to do with the tragedy in Tuscon. Sorry Democrats.

Jared Lee Loughner is not a Tea Partier. He is insane, and he has had run-ins with the law before. However, far left loon and Tuscon Sheriff Clarence Dupnik did nothing about those threats. Via The Cholla Jumps:

The sheriff has been editorializing and politicizing the event since he took the podium to report on the incident. His blaming of radio personalities and bloggers is a pre-emptive strike because Mr. Dupnik knows this tragedy lays at his feet and his office. Six people died on his watch and he could have prevented it. He needs to step up and start apologizing to the families of the victims instead of spinning this event to serve his own political agenda.

Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation. My sympathies and my heart goes out to her and the rest of Mr. Loughner’s family. This tragedy must be tearing them up inside wondering if they had done the right things in trying to manage Jared’s obvious mental instability.

Every victim of his threats previously must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if they had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully by the Glock 9mm Model 19 that he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more.

This was not an act of politics. This was an act of a mentally disturbed young man hell bent on getting his 15 minutes of infamy. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was aware of his violent nature and they failed to act appropriately. This tragedy leads right back to Sherriff Dupnik and all the spin in the world is not going to change that fact.

So a loony liberal sheriff - and most likely a bleeding heart liberal at that - allows an insane man who has been making threats against all types of people walk free, and then six people wind up dead.

I guess this doesn't have anything to do with Palin or the Tea Party, does it?

Don't Feed The Trolls, and the Potential Healthcare Bill Repeal

Far be it from me to try and infringe on any one's freedom of speech, but why are we arguing with morons?

For those just tuning in, allow me to explain. I am very much a fan of Gateway Pundit, which is a Conservative news blog, and also the Internet moniker of the man who runs the blog. I like Gateway and I like his blog. I also like the reading the comments sections of his posts, because it's amazing what you can learn, both from the regulars, and from the newcomers.

However, recently I have noticed an upswing in the trolls around the place. And it is annoying. For several months there were next to no trolls and now they're everywhere.

Worse, they can't form a coherent argument, and they never seem to realize when they're beaten. So one of the regular Punditeers will try to talk some sense into one of the trolls, only for the trolls to act like, well, liberals, which they most likely are, and lack anything that even remotely resembles an argument.

"If you can somehow force a liberal into a point-counterpoint argument, his retorts will bear no relation to what you've said -- unless you were in fact talking about your looks, your age, your weight, your personal obsessions, or whether you are a fascist. And that's kind of true. I forget how many time I've seen stupid liberal trolls do just that: we can't make a coherent point with admitting to hating America, so we'll misconstrue your statements and attack you instead. After all, you love America so attacking you is the next best thing.

I try not to argue with trolls, although I have accidentally ended up arguing with a liberal before. I'm not afraid to fight for my country, but on the other hand, I'm not real big on wasting time. You can spend time arguing with the trolls on GP's blog, but when you finally pin them into a corner, they change the argument.

In the interest of fairness, though, there were a pair of commenters who acted like trolls, but gave it up after getting verbally beaten around by the regulars a couple of time. Who knows, maybe arguing with idiots has some advantages. Maybe they do learn after awhile. Which, begs the question though, about why **** ***** and **** * can't actually learn after the fifty thousand times someone's argued with them. (Sorry, I don't want the trolls to know I'm talking about them, so no names.)

Alright, enough about the trolls. Now it's time to move on to the health care bill. I hear tell that the Republicans are going to vote for a repeal on the 12th of January. It was pointed out to me by one of the Punditeers today that this is a win-win for our side, no matter what happens. Either it gets repealed and we win, or the Democrats show their true colors, shoot the bill down, and we have something to hang them with come 2012.

Gutsy, but I felt it could have to stood to be a bit more strongly worded, and I think he was a bit wrong by assuming it would be repealed. Personally I think it should have run something along the lines of, "thank you for reminding us about your backroom deal. By all means feel free to block us. We appreciate you showing the public your true colors. (What color represents treason again?)

Okay, the last line might have been a little to far, but I couldn't resist. Good I'm not a politician. I would never be able to resist making fools out of stupid people.

Either way, it will certainly be interesting to see if the Right can pull this off.

We'll Need A Crane

Hello everyone, I hope you had a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to everyone.

I guess Congress must have finally gone home, and not a moment too soon. In fact, I wish they had gone a little bit sooner. I have no idea how much damage they managed to cause before they left, and I'm half afraid to ask. I was travelling over Christmas, so I missed a bunch of news. I do know, however, that when I got up on the 26th someone had turned the TV to FOX news and the newscaster was asking about whether Obama would be able to complete his agenda with the new Congress that was coming in. And right before I changed the channel, I thought to myself, you know, I had wanted Odummer to get his agenda through, I wouldn't have gone out and voted for the Republicans.

But I digress. Tonight I was thinking about a song that I haven't listened to in awhile. It's by a group called "They Might Be Giants" and the song is called "They'll Need A Crane."

Now the song itself talks about a couple's relationship, that it fell apart, and how they'll need a crane to pick the pieces up and put them back together again.

And I thought to myself, you know, we're going to need a crane to break down what the Dems have already built and then pick up the pieces of our freedoms and put them back together.

Here's the song:

There was Obamacare, and Don't Ask Don't Tell got repealed, "Quantitative Easing," all the money Odummer managed to wrack up on his constant vacations/parties/what have you (by the way, did you hear that his vacation to Hawaii is going to cost taxpayers over one million dollars? And this comes not that long after his trip to India, when he took thirty-four warships with him), the Pigford slave reparations, and these are just the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. not to mention that fact that no thanks to Obama and his cronies, the national debt is through the roof.

We'll need a crane to tear this garbage down and return the country to normal. Don't let anyone lie to you; the country will not magically get better after the new Congress comes in. It is going to take years to fix this (if we're lucky.) I say this now because I expect to eventually hear some Independent whining that the Republicans couldn't do anything.

That's right; unless some Dems move to the center, the next two years will be gridlock. That's the idea. First we put up a roadblock and work undoing whatever we possibly can. But some of these bills are monstrosities, and I suspect it will take awhile to undo them.

By the way, a Democrat journalist just went out and said he couldn't understand the Constitution because the document was over 100 years old. Iowa Hawk responded to the guy in a unique way, but I think the best response came from a commenter on Gateway Pundit's blog:

It’s a good thing the left has all the intelligent people. If I was as smart as they are instead of just an ignorant TEA Party supporter I wouldn’t be able to understand the constitution either.

I second that. And just think, more fools like this have been running the country for the last two years. We're gonna need a crane to break all of this garbage down and start over again. The TEA party is the crane itself, and the Republicans, if they their jobs right, are going to be the metal ball on the end of the chain.

Tomorrow's Political Forecast: Partly Tyranical with a 53% Chance of Atlas Shrugging

Is it just me, or have things actually gotten worse since the Dems were voted out? Oh wait, it's not just me - It has.

Alright, so the Democrats are angry that we rejected their tyranny, but I don't understand why they still have the power to ruin our lives like this. It annoys me.

Let's see, what all kind of crud has happened the past few days? Well, tonight I got word that the FCC has decided to start regulating the Internet. (Keep your hands off my computer! Dial R 4 Infinity is a No Net Neutrality zone!!) Also,

- The Senate passed a food safety bill that gives the FDA more power. The Republicans abandoned the Tea Party to jump on board with the Democrats. You can follow this link to see several lies about that bill get debunked. (Even if you don't read that food safety bill, I strongly suggest reading NaturalNews article in the second link.)

- In an utterly stupid move, the Senate decided to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell. The stupidity of this is just mind blowing. It's an army, not a social club, and it's no place to host a social experiment like this. In fact, I can predict how this ends because everytime I hear about a different country that allows fags to serve, the army can't fight worth squat.

- The irony meter went through the roof on Sunday when Wikileaks traitor Julian Assange's lawyers went out and complained that details about their client's sex life were leaked. (~~We read the documents on Wikileaks.~~)

And last, and probably worst (maybe...it's hard to tell) is the fact that the Republicans also collapsed on the START nuclear treaty with Russia. Now there is a motion to advance it. (Irritating me even more is the fact that one of my idiot Senators, RINO Dick Lugar, voted yes. Democrat Evan Bayh, who has retired, abstained from voting. I never thought I'd appreciate a Democrat over a Republican, but I do in this case.)(Wait a minute, I just admitted that I prefer Bayh over Lugar. What is this, the apocalypse?)

I digress. Today I was thinking about all this crap and I thought, you know, I'm getting an Atlas Shrugged vibe here. Who knew Ann Rand was qualified to be a prophetess? In Atlas Shrugged, the government is always after more power. And when whatever they're running fails, they demand more power to make sure it doesn't fail again. (even though the collapse was their fault in the first place.) That's what's happened with this new Food Safety bill. The FDA botched up, so of course they want more power now to make sure they ~~can screw up our lives~~ don't screw up again. (See lie #5 on the Natural News link up there.)

DADT qualifies under the 'making life fair' part of the government in Atlas Shrugged. And yes, the government in the book did try and make life fair. (They also used class warfare. I'm telling you: flat tax.)

Ever since Obummer came to power I've heard different people say it was like they went to bed in America and woke up after the election in a Banana Republic or the Twilight Zone or something like that. Well, now that I'd done reading AS, it feels like I went to bed in the real world and woke up in the book.

Which begs the question: WHERE IS JOHN GALT? Where is the person is going to restore sanity to those with the minds to accept it? I'm ready to accept it. Heck, I'm ready to move to Galt's Gulch. (Though I admit it will be hard to ship my books out there.)

All joking aside, no, I really am waiting for the person who's going to save America. And no, Obama is not qualified to do that job. Heck, he's not qualified to a Wal-Mart cashier. So who's going to save us now? (Oh heck, for that matter we may as well ask who is John Galt?)

No, I'm not giving up. Not yet. We still have another shot, as soon as January fifth rolls around. But it's not coming fast enough. This lame duck session should never have happened. Obama knows this is his one last shot to get the things he wants done. He is such an idiot it isn't funny. Washington D.C. is suicidal, and they want America to die with them.

Guess who's bad from finals, and still alive? Me! I'm still waiting to get the grade back on one of my finals, but it looks like no matter what I get for that one, I'm still going to pass the class, so everything is good.

Now, some of you may remember that in years passed I have really decorated my blog for Christmas, but Blogger has now updated their design blog layout and I'm having trouble navigating it. I think I have it figured out now; but we'll see if I can navigate it back to normal after Christmas. Let's hope so.

I can't spend much time here, as I have a paper due today and need to finish working on it, but I just heard that the DREAM bill passed in the house. What a nightmare. Dear heaven, what a nightmare:

The Senate is scheduled to vote on the bi-partisan legislation, which would potentially legalize hundreds of thousands of young people, on Thursday. Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada), majority leader, is not expected to have the 60 votes needed for passage.

Republican leaders said the bill is just another form of “amnesty”, one that is too costly to taxpayers and will only invite more illegal border crossings.

With a comprehensive overhaul of the immigration system dead, Democrats and immigrant advocates believe the Dream Act is the last best chance to win legal status for at least some illegal migrants before Republicans take control of the House in January.

Overhauling the immigration system is not dead, and if it is someone had better resuscitate it. Over in New Revolution, I used a quote as a chapter opener and the quote went like this: "Amnesty is a big billboard, a flashing billboard, to the rest of the world that we don't really mean our immigration law."

That was said by someone called Richard Lamm, and truer words have never been spoken about immigration. All the DREAM act is is amnesty, and it's going to cost us 6.2 million dollars - and that's the conservative estimate. It reality it will probably cost a lot more. And now illegals can take jobs that so many ordinary Americans need. thanks Congress. Thanks for nothing.

So the Demonrats, angry that they were rejected in the 2010 elections, respond by groping us all at airports and now by giving illegals amnesty. Let this serve as a lesson to us all: never vote for someone with a D after thier name.

Now, I've blasted Twilight before on this blog, because I think the book is shallow and vapid. It's kind of funny actually. I picked it and several other books up at the library the other day, and one of the other books was a book about the Civil War. So on the one hand, I had Breaking Dawn, a book that makes me look like a teenage ditz, and a book on the Civil War, which makes me look like a somewhat intelligent young woman. But I digress.

So I have Breaking Dawn, the last book, and I can't help but wonder why people like this series so much. Edward and Bella and angsty martyrs and Mary Sues to boot.

A Mary sue is a character with far too few flaws to be believable. Mary sues are also known by their ability to get their hands on things that no one else can have. Like that car Edward bought Bella that several other characters whispered to each other about "That thing's not even out yet!" That firmly cements Edward's status as a sue. For more on Mary Sues, Google is full of info.

Alright, enough complaining about Breaking Dawn. I'm off to go do other things, and I don't have many plans to be posting until finals are over. Wish me luck.

If You Don't Like the American Flag, Move to Iran

I'm mad. And I know what you're thinking: TARNS, we had a great victory not long ago, why are you upset?

I'm mad because even though we've just spayed them, Democrats are still everywhere. I can't stand them, and I can't get away from them either. What really set me off this week was my reading assignment in my English Composition class over at college.

So I was reading this essay by a Democrat who was whining and griping about how white Conservative men are against single moms getting welfare, and how we need to raise minimum wage and make life easier on these welfare moms. (Good thing the idiot who wrote essay was nowhere in the vicinity, or I might have committed an act that the Tea Party would frown upon.)

I'm getting so sick of liberals (and Democrats, but those two terms are interchangeable.) They have this spiel that life should be fair for everyone. If life was fair, then I wouldn't be force-fed liberal bull crap every other time I went to do my homework. If I can't trust you to be fair in a textbook, then give me one good reason I should let you try and legislate my life to make it fair? No answer? Didn't think so. Would it kill anyone out there to put an Ann Coulter column in my textbook so I can have a palate cleanser of after listening to liberals carry on?

Anyway, this dumb prick in the textbook whined that we need to do better at teaching abstinence/safe sex and we need to raise the minimum wage. Ah, the classic stupid liberal arguments.

ABSTINENCE not only prevent unwanted pregnancy, but it also prevents the transmission of STDs. But no one teaches abstinence in public schools, or when they do it's taught right next to 'safe sex.' Heck, there are even fliers in the student lounge at my college about HIV/AIDS, and they tell teens that the best way to not get AIDS is to abstain, but if you don't want to abstain, then use a condom.

I have bad news: condoms are not fail proof. Sorry (except I'm not.)

And the minimum wage argument. This is where liberals truly prove that they have the collective intelligence of a box a rocks. They think it is SO great to up minimum wage. Well, I have more bad news. When minimum wage goes up and businesses are forced to pay workers more, there are two ways the businesses handle this increase. First, they fire people. Then, they pass the cost onto the consumer by raising the cost of their goods. So now your welfare mother is not only unemployed, she can't afford the now more expensive box of cereal to feed her kid. This is where the government comes in to help, and we get to start this miserable cycle all over again.

At this time, I would like to add that the author of the liberal spiel is also SEXIST, because I'm a white Conservative WOMAN who doesn't want to see the minimum wage go up. Just thought I'd toss that out there.

What actually drove me to carp about this over here on my blog is this report from Gateway Pundit that another dumb school is upset a kid had an American flag; this time the kid had it on his bike. You know, if you don't like what the American flag stands for (because believe me, it's not about the flag, it's about what that flag stands for) then you can leave. I'll pay for your plane ticket to France or Iran, take your pick. But it's only gonna be one way.

I know that some people don't like America, but I'm tired of it being the ones who live in America who don't like it. If you don't like it, stop dragging my country down. Just leave.

In fact, I'd really like it if you left. Then I wouldn't have to read anymore stupid liberal spiel in my textbooks.

We are taking a break from the Monster Profiles because as of today, there is only one week left before the election. Conservatives, right-wingers, Republicans, and everyone who wants to see this country come back from the brink of destruction THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO LOSE YOUR NERVE. This week is expected to be a disaster of epic proportion. Don't put one thing past the Democrats. They are going to do their darnedest to kink up everything about this election. they have already started.

- The ~~Ninth Jerk-it Court of Shmiels~~ Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned Arizona I.D. laws that require voters to present a photo I.D. before they vote. (Can't infringe on those illegal Mexicans and their right to vote now, can we?)

-Voters in Nevada have found that went they went to vote, they found their ballots were mysteriously pre-marked in favor of Harry Reid.

And that is presumably only the tip of what I expect to be very, very dirty iceberg. Dems have final read the writing on the wall and realized that America in general is furious about what's been going on in the District of Corruption.

But some time ago, a song was suggested to me as a good theme song for the Democrats in this election, and after listening to it, I had to agree. Here:

Monstrous Profiles # 5 - The Baykok

If anyone has suggestions for a creature for Monstrous Profiles, I'm interested in hearing them. But in the meantime, onto number 5 - the Baykok.

The hunter walked slowly through the woods, careful not to make any sound that could alert his prey to his presence. He carefully approached a deer that was eating leaves of the trees, drawing out his bow and fitting an arrow to it. As he prepared to fire, he heard a rattling noise, then suddenly something struck him upside the he head and he collapsed, unconscious.

Next to him the figure of a skeleton holding a club let out a shrill cry and settled down to eat it's meal.

Name: Baykok, Bakaak, Bakuck, Paguk, and several others
Location: Great Lakes region

The baykok, like the Wendigo, is a creature of Chippewa mythology. Like the Wendigo, it's also something you never, ever want to bump into.

This creature is an emacipated, skeleton-like figure with red eyes and translucent skin. It flies through the forest sekking victims. Unlike the Wendigo, however, this creature only has one specific type of human prey.

From Monstropedia:

The Baykok only preys upon warriors, but does so ruthlessly, using invisible arrows or beating its prey to death with a club. The Baykok, after paralyzing or killing its prey, then devours the liver of its victim.

The Baykok is a hunter, stalking and killing human prey without a hint of guilt or remorse. However, this ghoulish creature never appears to more than one individual at a time, and only preys upon hunters and warriors. The Baykok prefers to hunt at
night, moving silently through the brush and the darkness in search of lone individuals.

It is said that the only way to sense an impending attack is by hearing the popping and creaking sounds made by the creature’s bones, and even sensing the threat is no guarantee of survival. Although the Baykok occasionally uses a heavy war club to bludgeon its victims to death, the creature prefers a bow that fires invisible arrows, which are tipped with a poison that induces a deep, dreamless sleep in those hit by the arrows. Before it eats, the Baykok unsheathes a small silver knife, and slices open the victim’s abdomen. The revenant then thrusts in its bony hand, removes the liver, and greedily consumes the organ. After dining, the Baykok shoves a rock into the empty
cavity, and finishes by sewing the wound shut with a magic thread that heals any and all superficial signs of the incision.

The unsuspecting victim then wakes up the next morning in the middle of the woods, most often with no recollection of their encounter with the ghoulish Baykok. Surprisingly, the unfortunate individual often lives for days or even weeks without any adverse side effects, despite having unknowingly lost a vital organ. Then the victim suddenly becomes violently sick, inevitably wasting away and dying. There are no exceptions.

Fortunately, the Baykok never willingly approaches a human civilization, as the creature itself is extremely reluctant to leave the safety of the forest. The Baykok knows its forest domain better than a seasoned woodsman, using this knowledge to set ambushes, to track prey without being detected in turn, and to escape those that may be hunting it.

The Baykok inhabits the forest territories of the Great Lakes, especially if these places were once inhabited by the Chippewa.

Yikes. There is one potential way of stopping the monster from making a snack out of you:

One of the most horrifying aspects of the Baykok is that the creature has no known weaknesses. Holy water, religious icons, and perhaps even blessed weapons have no effect on this revenant. However, like most of the corporeal Undead, the Baykok may have some sort of susceptibility to fire. And, since this revenant is little more than a dried-up skeleton, some sort of bludgeoning attack is advisable if a fight is unavoidable (use the creature’s own war club for this, if necessary).

Since the Baykok is clinically dead, one cannot actually kill the creature. However, despite what the legends say, there may be a way to destroy it. It may be necessary to hunt down the Baykok to its lair deep in the forest, confront it, and break its brittle bones to splinters with a heavy bludgeon (a mace works best). Then, the remains should be gathered up and placed in a pile of dry wood, and then thoroughly soaked in gasoline or lighter fluid. Then, a lit match should be thrown onto the pile, igniting it. The fire should be constantly fed until nothing remains of the Baykok except for ashes. If luck holds out, this should permanently destroy the creature and prevent it from ever rising again. However, be aware that this is only a theory, and has never
actually been tested.

Your best bet when it comes to this monster is to just stay out of the woods after dark, and if you do go in, be sure and take someone with you, since it won't attack if you're not alone.

And if you hunt, and by chance find yourself alone in the woods this Halloween, be very, very careful.

Because that popping noise you hear behind you, that might just be a hungry Baykok.

Monstrous Profiles # 4 - The Ahuizotl

Guess what!? It's Halloween time again, which means it's time for more Monstrous Profiles! Let's get going.

The canoe slid neatly through water; overhanging tree branches occasionally brushing the occupants of the canoe. The hunters in the canoes stayed quiet as the boat came to rest on the shoal. Two of them jumped out and dragged the boat up onto the shoal, where they decided to leave it sit for the night.

As they unloaded their prey and prepared to head back to the village, one of the hunters heard the sound of a small child crying, and turned to go see where the lost child was. his companions watched as he moved closer to the edge of the riverbank, where the sound was loudest.

he peered down into the water, and his companions watched in horror as a hand reached out of the water and pulled him in.

Three days later the man's body was found floating in the river, missing the eyes, teeth, and fingernails.

Another victim of the Ahuizotl.

Name: Ahuizotl
Location: Central Mexico (Mesoamerica)

The Ahuizotl is a creature in Aztec mythology that was said to look like an otter with monkey-like hands and an additional hand on the end of it's tail. Its main habitat is near water, and it's favorite food is humans.

To lure humans to their untimely demise, it makes a cry that sounds like the cry of a small child. And if you go to see why this 'child' is crying and you get too close to the water, then the ahuizotl grabs with the hand on the end of its tail and drags you down into the water.

When your body floats back up to the surface a few days later, it will be missing the eyes, fingernails, teeth, and toenails.

This creature was described in the Florentine Codex; a set of books on Aztec life before the arrival of the Spanish Conquerors. According to Wikipedia, in the book, it is described as

"...very like the teui, the small teui dog; small and smooth, shiny. It has small, pointed ears, just like a small dog. It is black, like rubber; smooth, slippery, very smooth, longtailed. And its tail is provided with a hand at the end; just like a human hand is the point of its tail. And its hands are like a raccoon's hands or like a monkey's hands. It lives, it is a dweller in watery caverns, in watery depths. And if anyone arrives there at its entrance, or there in the water where it is, it then grabs him there. It is said that it sinks him, it plunges him into the water; it carries him to its home, it introduces him to the depths; so its tail goes holding him, so it goes seizing him ... [When the body is retrieved] the one it has drowned no longer has his eyes, his teeth, and his nails; it has taken them all from him. But his body is completely unblemished, his skin uninjured. Only his body comes out all slippery-wet; as if one had pounded it with a stone; as if it had inflicted small bruises ... When it was annoyed - had caught no one, had drowned none of us commoners - then was heard as if a small child wept. And he who heard it thought perhaps a child wept, perhaps a baby, perhaps an abandoned one. Moved by this, he went there to look for it. So there he fell into the hands of the auítzotl, there it drowned him..."

So if perchance this Halloween, you hear the sound of a child crying near a river, approach with extreme caution.

I can't get away. Well, there's a bunch a crazy news out there, let's get started.

If Barack Obama gets impeached for nothing else, it ought to be this. He said that the U.S. can absorb another terrorist attack, even if it's like 9/11. Even if it's worse.

Woodward’s book portrays Obama and the White House as barraged by warnings about the threat of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil and confronted with the difficulty in preventing them. During an interview with Woodward in July, the president said, “We can absorb a terrorist attack. We’ll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever… we absorbed it and we are stronger.”

I don't care how strong we are, you oaf. I don't want to be a casualty of the next attack. The article continues.

But somehow I can’t escape the feeling that this flippancy comes from Obama’s envy that George W.Bush got a “big event” to make his presidency while all Obama has gotten is a bad economy, massive job loss, and dissatisfaction at every level of society. No big disaster that he could make his nut on. Heck he even wasted the BP Oil spill with weeks of inactivity.

Others agree with me. “This is just another example of the Obama Administration’s flippant attitude towards the War on Terror – a war they refuse to even identify or address. Instead of assuming the United States can just ‘absorb’ another terrorist attack, President Obama should be focused on creating a serious global strategy and fighting the dangerous ideology of Islamic extremism to ensure an act of war like September 11th never happens again,” said David Bossie, executive producer of the film America at Risk.

But Obama doesn't care we get attacked again or not... hmm... maybe he is a closet Muslim.

Let's move on! I don't know how may of my readers follow Gateway Pundit's blog, but there has been a hit piece put out on him by Leftist organization Media Matters. Congratulations, Gateway! You're doing something right!

On a much more serious note, a woman in Virginia is about to be executed for arranging her husband and step-son's murder. I wouldn't mention this, but that nutjob who's running Iran had something to say about it, and I feel that deserves a moment. Here's what he said:

An Iranian news agency reported Tuesday that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the West of launching a "heavy propaganda" campaign against the case of an Iranian woman who had been sentenced to be stoned to death for adultery but failing to react with outrage over the imminent execution of Lewis in Virginia.

Why would we fail to be outraged over Lewis' execution but get worked up over the Iranian woman who's going to be stoned for adultery? Oh, I don't know... how about...

- Lewis had a trial by jury, and I'm sure that the jury actually contained women.

- There was actual evidence of wrongdoing by Lewis.

- We aren't biased based on gender, unlike Islam which believes that a woman's testimony is worth only half of a man's.

Nope. No reason whatever. I don't think that Iranian woman committed adultery. I think she was probably framed, and is going to die for it now, but I don't have all the facts so I shouldn't be making judgements.

The latest post-racial news came in, and it wasn't so post-racial after all. From Gateway Pundit's blog, Two men charged with violent racist attack on white teen:

DNA recently linked Ahmed Mohamed and Jonathan Baquiring to the attack in which a 16-year-old boy was robbed, taunted with racial insults, burned with a lit cigarette and punched repeatedly. Mohamed, 22, and Baquiring, 21, each were charged Monday with first-degree robbery and malicious harassment, the state’s hate-crime statute.

Baquiring was booked into the Seattle Correctional Facility just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the King County Jail Booking Register. His bail is set at $500,000.

Seattle police are still searching for Mohamed.

King County Deputy Prosecutor Samantha Kanner will also seek to have Mohamed held on $500,000 bail once he is arrested, according to charging papers.

The victim, Shane McClellan, said he was walking home around 2 a.m. when two men, whom he described as black and Filipino, asked him for a light.

He said the two men then robbed him and beat him for four hours, whipping him with his own belt while saying things like, “How do you like it, white boy?” and “This is for enslaving our people,” according to the police report.

McClellan, who is white, said the two men also poured Four Loko energy beer on him, burned him with a cigarette and urinated on him, police said.

When are you going to come out and denounce this, President Obama? We're supposed to be beyond race now, aren't we? But you'll hide, again. You make me sick.

If this post-racism, someone needs to hit the reset button.

Project 2,996 Tribute - Pamela Chu

It bothered me when I saw her name on the list of unclaimed victims on the website. It bothered me even more when I typed her name into Google and found nothing. The entire world at my fingertips with Google and I couldn't find a trace of this 9/11 victim anywhere.

but a bit of further looking turned up one hit for her: a profile printed by the New york Times and later reprinted in the book Portraits Of Grief.

According to this profile, Ms. Chu was born in Korea, but moved to America with her parents when she was two years old. She graduated from the University of Buffalo and went to work for Cantor Fitzgerald shortly afterward. According to a friend, she was cool under pressure and never stressed out over things. She was both the only Asian and only woman in her department.

And she was only 31 when she died.

May the victims of 9/11, their families, those who died trying to save them, and those who survived, never be forgotten. may we never forget teh soldier who protect us, even now. And may we never stop trying to defend our freedoms.

Koran Burning: Media Late to the Party

It's so hilarious to me that over the last four days, it's come to the media's attention that hey, someone's burning something other than an American flag! I've known this for like two weeks now.

As predicted, Muslims have proved once again that they are not a religion of peace. Where is the peace in threatening to kill people for burning a Koran? Adding to the irony is the fact that Muslims use the Bible as toilet paper. Hmm, which of those two things is less offensive again? Me personally, I'll take having a book burning.

A lot of things have happened around this story over the past few days. First, General Petraeus came out and said that having a Koran burning will make things worse for the soldiers in Afghanistan. the only thing is, NOTHING will make Afghanistan easier. The best thing to do would be to bomb the place and leave. It's a waste of taxpayer money to give those people roads and infrastructure and oh by the way, the Taliban will really appreciate all that when they come back to power. Yes, I do think they'll come back. And I think that after we waste billions of taxpayer dollars to improve roads over there, it'll be easier for the Taliban to move missiles around. Three cheers for being stupid.

Barack Obama only cares about freedom of religion/speech when it comes to Muslims building a mosque two blocks away from Ground Zero. When it comes to a church's right to burn Korans, he's against it all the way. While we're on the subject of that mosque, the Imam in charge of it said that if it isn't built Muslims will attack. A little late for that, I'm thinking. Here's what the nutjob had to say:

“If this is not handled correctly, this crisis could become much bigger than the Danish cartoon crisis, which resulted in attacks on Danish embassies in various parts of the Muslim world…. If we don’t handle this crisis correctly it could become something which could really become very, very, very dangerous indeed.”

Wow. I'm terrified. Except it doesn't take much to set Muslims off, so I'm used to this now. Gateway Pundit had this response:

Imam Rauf, in all sincerity sir, you can take your victory mosque and shove it.

Ditto.

On the 9th of September, and about four pm, the pastor of the Florida church, Terry Jones, agreed to meet with the (Florida?) Imam, who promised that the Victory mosque would be moved. After that promise, Jones called off the burning of the Korans.

About four hours later it came out that the Imam had been lying all along and wasn't going to move the mosque. (Apparently the Imam was following the principle of taqqiya, or lying to nonbelievers.) This lie, however, was soon found out, and Jones declared the Koran Burning back on.

The media, of course, is having fits over this. No one should ever the malign the "religion of peace" but of course it's okay to malign every other religion. and freedom of speech is only for Islam, as they were in favor of this mosque and against the Koran burning.

This story just gets more and more bizarre. According to at least one report, the Westboro Baptist church has threatened that if the Dove Outreach Center doesn't burn any Korans, they will, and they claim to have done it once before. (For those of you who need a refresher, the Westboro Baptist church was the one protesting outside a soldier's funeral, and they got dragged to court for it.)

In another story, Donald Trump has offered to buy out one of the mosque investors in an effort to ends the whole controversy. You can read the whole story here.

Soldiers have already shot some protesters for throwing rocks at their base. Apparently there's no word on whether or not the soldiers were American or Afghan.

This story just gets more bizarre all the time.

Muslims: We're victims too!

The AP is determined to make sure that this 9/11, you realize that Muslims are victims too!

Don't buy it. Just don't:

American Muslims are boosting security at mosques, seeking help from leaders of other faiths and airing ads underscoring their loyalty to the United States — all ahead of a 9/11 anniversary they fear could bring more trouble for their communities.

Now I can't get inside these Muslims' heads, but they are probably lying. The Koran permits Muslims to lie to unbelievers, so all those ads claiming loyalty are probably defective merchandise.

Their goal is not only to protect Muslims, but also to prevent them from retaliating if provoked.

Given how violent Muslims actually are, eh, good luck with that one.

One Sept. 11 protest in New York against the proposed mosque near ground zero is expected to feature Geert Wilders, the aggressively anti-Islam Dutch lawmaker. The same day in Gainesville, Fla., the Dove World Outreach Center plans to burn copies of the Quran.

"We can expect crazy people out there will do things, but we don't want to create a hysteria," among Muslims, said Victor Begg of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Michigan. "Americans, in general, they support pluralism. It's just that there's a lot of misinformation out there that has created confusion."

What misinformation exactly? This is a really important question to ask here. What is this misinformation about? What's in the Koran? We know the truth and now it needs to be suppressed? I wish I knew what this guy was talking about.

On Tuesday, the Islamic Society of North America will hold a summit of Christian, Muslim and Jewish leaders in Washington "to address the growing tide of fear and intolerance" in the furor over the planned New York mosque.

Islamic centers in many cities are intensifying surveillance and keeping closer contact with law enforcement. Adding to Muslim concern is a fluke of the lunar calendar: Eid al-Fitr, a joyous holiday marking the end of Ramadan, will fall around Sept. 11 this year. Muslim leaders fear festivities could be misinterpreted as celebrating the 2001 terror strikes.

I sure hope those rabbis and pastors back out of that meeting: going to that is asking for trouble. And we don't need to see that you're celebrating: we saw it when the towers destroyed: Muslims were happy.

Separately, groups are distributing ads to combat persistent suspicions about Islam. One spot, called "My Faith, My Voice," features American Muslims saying, "I don't want to take over this country."

Yes you do want to take over this country. Don't lie to me. The goal laid out in the Koran is that there will only be piece in the world when Islam is spread throughout the entire world. Don't even bother to lie.

I could keep going, but I don't feel like it; I'm really annoyed. The AP tried to pull this stunt last year too: "don't blame the Muslims! They're just as much victims as we were!" Which is simply not true. Yes, Muslims were killed when plane the planes hit the WTC, just like members of every other ethnic group, but it doesn't matter. According to the Koran it doesn't matter if "innocent" Muslims are caught in the crossfire of a suicide attack. If they were good people they'll go to heaven. (The ultra-cynical view is, "Blow up everyone around you and let Allah sort 'em out.")

And it irritates me. I am not concerned about the feelings of living, breathing, let's-build-a-mosque-near-ground-Zero Muslims. I am more concerned about remembering the people who lost their lives on 9/11.

But hey, what can you expect from the anti-American press?

Obama needs his License Revoked

"After they drove the car into the ditch, made it as difficult as possible for us to pull it back, now they want the keys back. No. You can't drive. We don't want to have to go back into the ditch. We just got the car out."

- Barack Obama, attempting to prove that his party should be re-elected (And proving that he thinks you, the average voter, has no idea what's going on.)

Someone should go tell Obama to go take a look at his poll numbers. He's not doing so hot - and neither is Congress. He had this cute little metaphor that if you want to go forward you put the car in 'D' not 'R'. In this little metaphor, Obama is saying that if you vote Democrat, he can get you out of the ditch, but not if you vote Republican. Of course, this little metaphor might work better if he hadn't put the car into gear and then drove it into the ditch.

Obama has once again proved how out of touch with reality he is. The economy failed in the latter end of George Bush's term largely because of the housing bubble, which was built up by Democrats to start with! Then Obama came along promising change and put the car even further in the ditch by killing job wherever he found them and terrorizing the economy.

He's attempted to kill drilling jobs with his oil drilling moratorium. He's killed jobs at tanning salons by raising new taxes on them. He's trying to limit how many fish fisherman can catch and therefore reduce the profits the fishermen get. And those are just a few examples of what he's done to ruin this economy.

Back when he was running for President, Obama made another incredibly stupid remark, this one about wanting trickle-up economics. It's been a while since I took economics and heaven knows I'm no businesswoman, but even I know a dumb idea when I hear it. That dumb statement doesn't just defy economics, it also defies gravity.

In nature, when water flows down from a lake, it waters everything on the way down. It never trickles back up to where it came from. And the same principle works in economics. (Which I'm going to go out on a limb and assume Obama failed.) Rich people have money, and when they're not running scared that the government will take their money away from them, they invest it in the stock market. This gives companies more money which allows them to expand and hire more people. As money trickles down it helps everyone. It can't trickle up; poor people don't invest in the economy enough to make a difference.

So thanks for nothing Obama. You did NOT ever get that car back out of the ditch, you got it stuck in there deeper, and you're happy about it because it lets you push your dumb socialist agenda.

It's time to revoke Obama's licence. November 2012 can't come fast enough.

FL Church Promises to Burn Korans, Muslims Respond in Typical Fashion

First of all, Pastor, none of those things you listed are isolated incidents. Not one. they are all part of the Islamization of America. And I do agree that it needs to be stopped.

Second, if this doesn't make those idiots in the media shut up about 'religion of Peace' already, nothing ever will. See how this pastor is receiving death threats? You get two guesses as to who is sending them, and I'll give you two hints:

1. Not Christians.

2. Not Jews.

Christians don't send death threats. Muslims do, though.

Now this is controversial for many reasons, and I probably won't get to them all here. First of all, the question is, Is it a good idea for this church to do this? Part of me desperately wants to say yes because I'm tired of creeping Islam. Yes, this should be done. Everyone out at that book burning should be carrying a gun in case CAIR tries something and why are you just burning Korans? You haven't gone far enough. You'd better serve ham at this thing - bonus points if you cook it over the fire you make from the Korans, and you need to have instrumental music playing in the background, too. The Battle Hymn of the Republic, or something.

But the other part of me wants to know if this is the right thing to do. Is this a good testimony for us Christians? I don't know. But I do wonder, particularly when I remember the Crusades.

How much longer are we going to sit down and take it while Muslims demand that we
give them everything they want? I've blogged on here about the idiot Muslim cook who tried to sue his employers when they wanted him to cook pork. If you don't want to cook pork, then maybe you shoulda been a desert chef or something. Muslims are creeping into our culture and they are not assimilating - they expect us to assimilate to them.

I'm tired of Islam. Right now they're trying to build a VICTORY MOSQUE TO COMMEMORATE THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ON 9/11. Let's not beat around the bush, we'll call the Hamasque of the Usual Suspects what it is: a VICTORY MOSQUE TO COMMEMORATE THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ON 9/11. Okay? And I'm tired of it. Building a mosque in a business district - it's not because you need a place to worship, it's because you want to COMMEMORATE THE DEATH OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, well, you get the point.

And then, Bibles. In Saudi Arabia, it is illegal to own one of these. Oh, yeah, real tolerant religion going on there. Burn a flag, burn people to death, burn a church, burn a Bible, Muslims don't blink. Burn a Koran, and they scream like stuck pigs.(By the way, I think it's worth mentioning that church burning is the second-favorite pastime of Muslims.)

Now, there is endless debate going on now about whether or not this is the right thing to do. There is no easy now. The easiest thing to do would be to not let any more Muslims over here, ever. After 9/11 immigration from the Middle East should have been stopped, with the only exception being the Jews. Only Jews, not Muslims who lived in Israel.

Now, "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful." It falls under free speech laws that these people can burn Korans, but is it helpful? Or will it be another black mark against Christians? At this point I would have to say that there's not much you can do that will make Christianity look any better in the media's eyes. Determined to make Islam the religion of peace, they've left Christianity to be transforming into a 'violent religion.' We're not, by the way. but the media will never listen to that.

As to whether or not the church should burn Korans, because I'm still evenly divided over what to do, I'll leave that one up to them. But one thing that I think is worth mentioning is the Crusades. At this rate, we're going to need a few more of these.

Contrary to what you've heard from your teachers or from watching Kingdom of Heaven, the Crusades were not a bunch of Christians going out to terrorize Muslims. the Crusades were a bunch of Christians going out to stop Muslim aggression and prevent said Muslims from taking over Europe.

Q: The Crusades are often portrayed as a militarily offensive venture. Were they?

Spencer: No. Pope Urban II, who called for the First Crusade at the Council of Clermont in 1095, was calling for a defensive action -- one that was long overdue.

As he explained, he was calling the Crusade because without any defensive action, "the faithful of God will be much more widely attacked" by the Turks and other Muslim forces.

"For, as most of you have heard, the Turks and Arabs have attacked them and have conquered the territory of Romania [the Greek empire] as far west as the shore of the Mediterranean and the Hellespont, which is called the Arm of St. George," Pope Urban II said in his address. "They have occupied more and more of the lands of those Christians, and have overcome them in seven battles. They have killed and captured many, and have destroyed the churches and devastated the empire.

"If you permit them to continue thus for a while with impunity, the faithful of God will be much more widely attacked by them."

He was right. Jihad warfare had from the seventh century to the time of Pope Urban conquered and Islamized what had been over half of Christendom. There had been no response from the Christian world until the Crusades.

Huh. No response until the crusades. The media won't acknowledge Islam for what it is, and it'll take Crusades now to stop this spread of Islam. Methinks history might be slated to repeat itself.

Q: What are some popular misconceptions about the Crusades?

Spencer: One of the most common is the idea that the Crusades were an unprovoked attack by Europe against the Islamic world.

In fact, the conquest of Jerusalem in 638 stood at the beginning of centuries of Muslim aggression, and Christians in the Holy Land faced an escalating spiral of persecution.

Early in the eighth century 60 Christian pilgrims from Amorium were crucified; around the same time the Muslim governor of Caesarea seized a group of pilgrims from Iconium and had them all executed as spies -- except for a small number who converted to Islam.

Muslims also demanded money from pilgrims, threatening to ransack the Church of the Resurrection if they didn't pay.

Later in the eighth century, a Muslim ruler banned displays of the cross in Jerusalem. He also increased the tax on non-Muslims -- jizya -- that Christians had to pay and forbade Christians to engage in religious instruction of their own children and fellow believers.

Early in the ninth century the persecutions grew so severe that large numbers of Christians fled for Constantinople and other Christian cities. In 937, Muslims went on a rampage in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, plundering and destroying the Church of Calvary and the Church of the Resurrection.

In 1004, the Fatimid Caliph, Abu 'Ali al-Mansur al-Hakim, ordered the destruction of churches, the burning of crosses, and the seizure of church property. Over the next 10 years 30,000 churches were destroyed, and untold numbers of Christians converted to Islam simply to save their lives.

In 1009, al-Hakim commanded that the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem be destroyed, along with several other churches, including the Church of the Resurrection. In 1056, the Muslims expelled 300 Christians from Jerusalem and forbade European Christians from entering the rebuilt Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

When the Seljuk Turks took Jerusalem in 1077, the Seljuk Emir Atsiz bin Uwaq promised not to harm the inhabitants, but once his men had entered the city, they murdered 3,000 people.

Another common misconception is that the Crusades were fought to convert Muslims to Christianity by force. Glaringly absent from every report about Pope Urban's address at the Council of Claremont is any command to the Crusaders to convert Muslims.

It was not until over 100 years after the First Crusade, in the 13th century, that European Christians made any organized attempt to convert Muslims to Christianity, when the Franciscans began missionary work among Muslims in lands held by the Crusaders. This effort was largely unsuccessful.

Yet another misconception revolves around the Crusaders' bloody sack of Jerusalem in 1099.

The capture of Jerusalem is often portrayed as unique in medieval history, and as the cause of Muslim mistrust of the West. It might be more accurate to say that it was the start of a millennium of anti-Western grievance mongering and propaganda.

The Crusaders' sack of Jerusalem was a heinous crime -- particularly in light of the
religious and moral principles they professed to uphold. However, by the military standards of the day, it was not actually anything out of the ordinary.

In those days, it was a generally accepted principle of warfare that if a city under siege resisted capture, it could be sacked, and while if it did not resist, mercy would be shown. It is a matter of record that Muslim armies frequently behaved in exactly the same way when entering a conquered city.

This is not to excuse the Crusaders' conduct by pointing to similar actions. One atrocity does not excuse another. But it does illustrate that the Crusaders' behavior in Jerusalem was consistent with that of other armies of the period -- since all states subscribed to the same notions of siege and resistance.

In 1148, Muslim commander Nur ed-Din did not hesitate to order the killing of every Christian in Aleppo. In 1268, when the jihad forces of the Mamluk Sultan Baybars took Antioch from the Crusaders, Baybars was annoyed to find that the Crusader ruler had already left the city -- so he wrote to him bragging of his massacres of Christians.

Most notorious of all may be the jihadists' entry into Constantinople on May 29, 1453, when they, according to historian Steven Runciman, "slew everyone that they met in the streets, men, women and children without discrimination."

Finally, it is a misconception that Pope John Paul II apologized for the Crusades. He did not.

There is no doubt that the belief that Pope John Paul II apologized for the Crusades is widespread. When he died, the Washington Post reminded its readers "during his long reign, Pope John Paul II apologized to Muslims for the Crusades, to Jews for anti-Semitism, to Orthodox Christians for the sacking of Constantinople, to Italians for the Vatican's associations with the Mafia and to scientists for the persecution of Galileo."

However, John Paul II never actually apologized for the Crusades. The closest he came was on March 12, 2000, the "Day of Pardon."

During his homily he said: "We cannot fail to recognize the infidelities to the Gospel committed by some of our brethren, especially during the second millennium. Let us ask pardon for the divisions which have occurred among Christians, for the violence some have used in the service of the truth and for the distrustful and hostile attitudes sometimes taken toward the followers of other religions."

This is hardly a clear apology for the Crusades.

Don't think for one minute that if the Muslims could force us all to stop worshiping God and teaching each other - even each other! - about the Bible, they wouldn't do it. It would not surprise me if very shortly we are in for the fight of lives just to keep our freedoms.

I'm glad the Pope didn't apologize. At least someone has a brain.

In Europe things have already started to reach a breaking point. No one over there wants the Muslims anymore simply because of the way act and how they demand to be treated better then everyone else. Whether this is because their skin is brown or what I don't know or honestly care.

These people are already trying to infiltrate our culture and force us to play by their rules, and I don't appreciate that much. The Muslims are consistently doing outrageous things, so maybe it's time that the rest of us be just as outrageous.

Maybe. Maybe doing this isn't right at all.

Or maybe it's what we need - the beginning of another Crusade.

The U.S. delegation will not offer an apology for dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki when it attends a ceremony in Japan on Friday marking the 65th anniversary of the attacks, which brought World War II to an end.

State Department spokesman Noel Clay said no apology will be offered by the delegation, to be led by U.S. Ambassador John Roos, at the ceremony in Hiroshima.

"We welcome the visit," he told The Associated Press. "But without an apology, it is difficult for us. We aren't asking for reparations. We simply want the U.S. to apologize and get rid of its nuclear arsenal."

"We want America to get rid of all nukes!" Now doesn't that just figure. Some other things come to me out of this, including, did the government consider making the apology or did the Japanese ask them to make it?

The son of one of the men who dropped a bomb said that we were apologizing just by being there. I don't know. Maybe he's right.

On the IMAO post, which is where I first learned about this, one of the commentors pointed out that the Japanese haven't apologized for Pearl Harbor yet. It's a good point, and I'd like to add one more: where's our apology for the Bataan Death March? I don't think the Japanese have to much of a right to be after an apology.

One more thing: just in case Obummer doesn't know about this yet, let's not tell him that no one's apologizing until after this memorial is over.

Whatdaya Know, the Healthcare Bill Kills Jobs, Too.

Why am I not surprised? From Gateway Pundit, who got it from the Washington Post:

The sun hasn’t exactly set on Solar Planet, but anxiety over the fate of the Arlington tanning salon has been running high ever since a “tan tax” took effect Thursday.

One of the less publicized measures in the new health-care law, the tax imposes a 10 percent surcharge on the use of ultraviolet indoor tanning beds.

Supporters — including the Obama administration, congressional Democrats and dermatologists — have argued that the tax will raise an estimated $2.7 billion toward the cost of expanding health coverage to the uninsured, while discouraging a practice that increases the risk of skin cancer by as much as threefold in frequent users, according to scientific research.

But outraged tanning salon owners worry that the levy could deal a death blow to an industry already reeling from the recession.

“In 26 years of business this is the worst I’ve seen it,” said Scott Shortnacy, owner of the Arlington Solar Planet as well as six other branches in the Washington area. “Normally for people who tan, it’s a part of their lifestyle. They keep doing it even in a recession. But everybody has been looking for ways to cut back on those areas. … Our sales are down 20 to 30 percent.”

According to the Indoor Tanning Association, an industry trade group, most of the nation's 19,000 tanning salons are small businesses owned and staffed by women. Shortnacy said all but two of his several dozen employees are women. With business so slow, he opted against hiring the 10 to 15 seasonal workers he normally adds during the spring high season.

This is beyond stupid. This is just so, incredibly, stupid. In the last paragraph, a tanning salon owner points out how he didn't hire additional workers for the spring season. That's fifteen jobs out the door right there. And more jobs will follow; to avoid paying that tax, people will cut back on tanning, and when the patrons go, people who work in tanning salons are going to lose thier jobs.

So thanks, Democrats. Thanks for killing more jobs that people could have used. Thanks for nothing.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!

I'm excited. I can be excited, right? It's the Fourth of July, and I can't help but think that even though George Washington would be ashamed that we named the now corrupt seat of government after him, as long as there's still Patriots out there in America somewhere, we'll still be fine, right? That's my big question.

But enough about politics; it's time to celebrate! Have a Happy 4th of July everyone, and may God bless America! Here's to 235 more years!

And thanks also to all the servicemen and women who've kept us free and made our way of life possible. Thank you.

And back to Cynical Book!

Yes, that poor other blog of mine, left abandoned for so long, is finally being put back to work, being used to host a modern events story. Yay! Oh, I have lots of work to do over there, and that's not even counting the work I have to do on the story.

The template designer... man, I hate that thing. What happened to all the old templates? Like the ones I've used on my blogs? I thought that maybe I should see if there are some other templates I'd like to try, but I couldn't find the old ones and all the new ones are just dumb. I prefer the simplistic approach of the old templates; the new ones have no spot for my blog banner and on Cynical Book it takes my sticky post - which is supposed to be at the top of the page - and puts it down on the very bottom. That's annoying.

But enough complaining. I have finally felt secure enough to take my pro-Israel banner down... for now. Much as I love the pretty blue and white, it feels more normal to have the regular, same-old-same-old banner back up.

I ran into some trouble this morning trying to get to Gateway Pundit's blog. Anyone know what the deal with that is? Is it just my computer, or something else? Every time I tried to go over there my virus software said that there was some malware or something there. (This is another annoying thing, because I'd kinda like to see the news.)

Well, i think I'll go try GP's blog again, and see if I can get over there. Also, there is a new banner in the works for New Revolution - Cynical Book. (Which I will most likely continue to refer to only as Cynical Book.) Here's the link to CB. I'd love to have some people reading the story. :D
